I was just thinking about him yesterday knowing it was his birthday. Usually I don't get extremely upset upon hearing of a famous person's death, but when I heard about Freddie, I was in tears.

Oh yeah, "Who Wants to Live Forever", one of my all-time favorite Queen songs.

Another thing to mention, for those familiar with Eric Carr, he was Kiss's drummer for a while, he died the same day as Freddie, of cancer. He was only 41. His death is often overshadowed by Freddie's death.

Who Wants to Live Forever is one of my top favorite Queen songs as well - just gorgeous (although Brian May wrote it, not Freddie). Anyway, God bless Freddie, who was a terrific vocalist and a very talented songwriter as well. :birthday:

Mercury had one of the most unique and powerful singing voices I have ever heard.

That's right. You would never be able to confuse Freddie's voice with someone else's. Same goes for Steve Perry.

That would've been a great duet - Freddie Mercury and Steve Perry. :D

A few years back, I saw Queen in concert with Paul Rodgers. Even though Freddie & John Deacon weren't part of it, I still wanted to see them because I never got the chance to see the "real" Queen. Still great to see Brian & Roger though. One of the songs Brian sang was "Love of my Life" and Roger sang "Radio Gaga", which were 2 of the highlights of my night. They featured Freddie quite prominently in video and some in audio, but he certainly was sorely missed in the flesh.

Recently, I was watching the making of "A Night at the Opera" and Brian was saying he still likes performing "Love of my Life" in concert because it keeps the memory of Freddie alive.
