View Full Version : This Summer Sucked ***!
MrCleveland 09-06-2009, 09:18 AM Now normally, there were some summers that I would be doing a lot and there were some summers that I would not do much.
But this summer...I did nothing!
First-The weather. It was raining, and not just plain rain...drizzle. This made the summer damp.
Second-No Traditions. Usually I would go to Madison, Pennsylvania, and Milan every (or almost) every year. This year...I did none of the three.
Third-My neighbors. We couldn't go outside to even enjoy ourselves. So this Labor Day...I'm wearing black because it's been the worst summer ever!
phoebe7165 09-06-2009, 10:29 AM Now when you're a kid, summer's great - no school, still too young to have to work a summer job, vacations....
Now as an adult, I think summer sucks ass every year. Fall cannot come soon enough. Although this summer it was pretty good as far as my concerts!!
So sorry your summer didn't turn out the way you wanted it to.;)

Like I said...I did something for 25 years and this year...I didn't make it.
And if I go next year...is it still tradition?
Chocoholic 09-06-2009, 12:57 PM I can't complain much about this summer temperature-wise, but I found the rain and cloudy weather depressing. I also had jaw surgery, which was not fun.
Hopefully, we'll have a nice, long Indian summer.
Nighthawk76 09-06-2009, 02:28 PM Being out of work made this summer pretty unmemorable.
comedyfreak 09-06-2009, 02:54 PM This summer wasn't memorable for me either I haven't done anything other than see a movie or two and you can do that anytime.

Can I ask why you didn't go to any of these places? Finances?
Hey, if you've been doing these things for 25 years and you skip just one year, I don't see why it still can't stay a tradition!!

Madison Old-Fashioned Days-We got roped into a Church Picnic. And this is usually hit or miss anyhow, one year we went on Saturday.
Pennsylvania Family Reunion-No car to get there and my dad was tied-in to many projects. We also decided to move the rest of the crap from grandma's old house, and that was one of the reasons why I couldn't go.
Milan Melon Festival-I would've liked to go, even after celebrating their Golden Anniversary (50th for all you factual people), I wouldn't have minded. But my dad had to work and when you have your own business, sacrifice has to come.
And I promise that I will visit Milan for two days...just to make it up! That and I have no car because it got into an accident.
sunshinefizzy 09-06-2009, 03:56 PM I liked this summer. Just lying out in the sun in my bikini, reading a good book and watching a movie here and there. Yeah, good times for me.

Hehe, I like the way you put it. It was kind of the same for me... I did nothing, but at least I had fun doing it.
Summer was too short! I'd rather be bored than be completely burned out and stressed like I am right now.
I don't think I've ever had a 'memorable' Summer.
MickeyMac 09-06-2009, 08:23 PM The big downer of the summer for me is to have to question among my friends where do I stand. I didnt ask anyone but since I found out that I creep people out, sadly I dont know where I stand with people anymore.:(
dawsongirl 09-06-2009, 11:10 PM This summer sucked monkey balls. **** Summer of 09. I hope it burns in hell.
Bring on winter, so at least I can use SDD as an excuse for my depression.

Mickey, I don't know you in person, but I don't understand how you creep people out. You seem like an intelligent, warm, funny, level-headed person to me.
Maybe you need to go find some people who appreciate you for who you are. Just a suggestion :)
Southern Hellraiser 09-06-2009, 11:53 PM I HATED this summer. All I did was work and when I wasn't working, I just sat at home all day and thought about how miserable I was. It wasn't exactly what I expected the summer before my senior year to be like. It also didn't help that I had to go to work with a bunch of racist rednecks everyday...
Schmoopie 09-06-2009, 11:58 PM I am having a great summer! I'm sorry to hear yours has been so bad, Mr. Cleveland. I say the summer was great, despite the heatwave we had back in August. However my house was so hot (no A/C) during that time that the thought of going home was just unbearable. It was terrible, but I loved the warm weather.
I am looking foreword to fall, however, even though it means the rain will return. I hope we get even a little of an indian summer this year. Warm weather plus gorgeous fall colors. Sounds perfect!!
Theda Bara 09-07-2009, 12:23 AM Forgive me, for sounding self-righteous (or, even a tad condescending) but, life is what you make it to be.
I saw a couple of great concerts (this summer) and that is fine with me:)
DLevine2 09-07-2009, 08:33 AM I had a great summer. I went to the beach in Hilton Head, SC at the end of May and that was fun. Then almost the end of June I went to St. Simons Island, GA which I went to the beach again and that was fun. Then last month I went to Asheville, NC and South Boston, VA which I enjoyed seeing my grandparents in South Boston, VA.
The bad thing about this summer, it was too hot to go for a walk which I was trying to wait for the weather to cool down. I went for a walk sometimes during the summer when it was not too hot outside.
The good thing about this summer which was I saw a couple of movies at the movie theater and one concert.
I'm looking forward to fall being here which I can see the colorful leaves, having food which are pumpkin breads, and try to enjoy indian summer.

I will try and make the next decade more memorable.
I will make the Summer of 2010 the summer that I'll NEVER forget.
I will do all three events that I go to...and more.
I will buy a car between now and the end of this year.
I will also make sure that 2009 and this decade the 00s go into oblivion and never come back.

Thank you for the kind words, but the fact that I am a quiet person and dont talk all the time makes people uncomfortable.

Those people are just stupid then. Waaaay better than someone who won't shut the $%#@! up.

I VERY much agree, Tara. I mean, sometimes things don't always go our way, but the mind is a powerful tool, and a person can use it to turn his or her luck around. It's an amazing thing. :D

A-freakin-greed!!! You're right on the money, Cathy... I'd way prefer talking to someone who is rather quiet, than someone where my opinion basically doesn't matter cause I can't get a word in edgewise!
I've chatted with you before, Mic... and yes, you are quiet. But I rather enjoyed talking to you! :D I think in person you might be hard to read, maybe you're not very expressive, which might freak people out or something... that's the only thing I can think of, cause otherwise, you seem like a great guy to be around. :)
Scoobiedoo30 09-08-2009, 01:15 AM The only thing I have to say this summer went by fast

Ooo, ooo, me, too!! Hate to rub it in, too, but had a rather good concert-going schedule going this summer. I saw more shows than I was expecting to and had the best time last weekend at a concert in LA!!
Sorry for being nosey, but who did you see in concert?

That sounds like a great idea!!!

That is SO true! Especially around here where it doesn't start getting hot until mid July!

Same here I got to see some great bands including the Gories. Most people havent seen them play since they broke up around 1993.
