TIFF '09: See the Manson Chicks in Leslie Trailer, New Pics!

The official trailer was posted today from Reginald Harkema's Leslie, My Name is Evil, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this month.

In addition, we got our hands on a bunch of new stills from that takes on the murder trial of the infamous Manson murders.


Perry, a sheltered chemist, falls in love with Leslie, a former homecoming princess, when he is selected to be a jury member at her hippie death cult murder trial. Perry has always done what is expected of him. He was a straight-A student who got a good job at a chemical company and proposed to his Christian girlfriend, Dorothy. Leslie took a different path after she was traumatized by Kennedy’s assassination, an abortion and the divorce of her parents. She took LSD, joined a hippie death cult and helped murder a God-fearing citizen in her own home.

When Perry and Leslie lock eyes in court, Perry is forced to confront the darkest parts of him and by extension, society. "LESLIE, MY NAME IS EVIL" is a film that explores how the choices Perry and Leslie make reflect upon the moral choices our society has made.

Manson, My Name is Evil Arriving on DVD This October

Taking horror fans into the mind of a follower of a real-life serial killer, Manson, My Name is Evil (formerly "Leslie, My Name is Evil"), makes its American DVD debut October 12 from Lionsgate.



An Official Selection of the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, the film has been hailed as "close to perfection" in recapturing the horror of the murderer whose deeds coined the term 'serial killing.'



The film stars Kristen Hager ("Valemont"), Gregory Smith ("Everwood") and Ryan Robbins ("Caprica").

Wow. That picture of the girls with the knives is seriously hard to look at.

I have no problem with the movie per se, but I almost feel like everything that could be said about this case has been said by now. It kind of seems like further exploration is just going to be exploitation. The blurb from the Toronto Film Festival is promising, of course, but I might pass on it.
