I've tried to follow several links from here to the Doe Network...but the site isn't coming up...the site that comes up actually links you to lots of pay sites for finding people.

Is anyone else having this problem, or is it some kind of virus on my computer (or something...I'm not too computer savvy lol)

Are you using the address http://www.doenetwork.org/ ? Using that address, the site came up just fine for me right now.

doenetwork.net and doenetwork.com, etc, aren't related to the real doenetwork site.

I was actually clicking on the link for the young man found with the Grateful Dead t-shirt...I wanted to look at his Doe Network profile...but it came up with the other site. Then I clicked another link on one of the other stories, same thing.

I noticed this too when I first came to this board about two years ago. Most of the older links to the doenetwork are for www.doenetwork.us

My guess is they changed their domain a few years back. So you always have to replace the .us with .org

I've never even heard of the Doe Network, but it's a great name for a network that airs shows like UM. :cool:

Uhhhh....not sure if you were just being facetious but the DOE Network is a missing persons site, not a television network. And to the OP yes, it is very annoying to click on those links and be taken to that pay site with the little wide-eyed boy staring back at you. The problem is that I've encountered that problem when trying to link from various other places on the net, so it seems the fact that they changed domains is less helpful than I'm sure they were intending.

The Doe Network is in no way related to UM, and definitely doesn't air UM episodes. It is, however, an extensive database featuring the profiles of missing, as well as unidentified persons (John/Jane DOEs). And they happen to have profiles for many (though probably all) of the cases featured on UM that are still unsolved.
