View Full Version : Does anyone else miss USA's Up All Night and TBS's Dinner and Movie browneyes106 08-27-2009, 01:51 PM I miss those a lot. Torgo 08-28-2009, 12:23 PM I miss Commander USA's Groovie Movies- which ran on USA Network back in the 80's, they showed a lot of great rare and weird horror movies. The Commander was a retired super hero, his sidekick Lefty was his hand with a smiley face drawn on it with his cigar. I saw movies on there like- The Children, Dance of the Dwarfs, The Pack...lots more... Jude The Obscure 08-28-2009, 05:39 PM wow--back when USA was really taking chances and carving itself a unique identity. Where that USA went, I have no idea  TMC 11-15-2015, 02:35 AM I miss Commander USA's Groovie Movies- which ran on USA Network back in the 80's, they showed a lot of great rare and weird horror movies. Gumdrops 01-10-2016, 02:57 AM I loved USA Up All Night when I was a kid. So many weird movies...oh and Duckman too. I miss the old USA channel. :( UMFaninMD 01-10-2016, 10:04 PM I loved Up All Night, Commander USA, and Saturday Nightmares. USA was such a great channel back then. Unfortunately they became yet another boring cable channel and I stopped watching when these programs went off the air. doctorpetina 01-25-2016, 02:52 AM Damn I was too young to stay up for "Up All Night" and "Weekly World News" I recenty found and episode on youtube and got depressed over what I missed :( mets82 01-25-2016, 04:21 PM I didnt watch UP All Night. I remember Dinner and a Movie. I thought it got annoying because they just kept talking. I wanted to see the movie although Anabelle Gurwich was hot. Although I might remember Dinner and a Movie for this: http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N-GDLyVGA8 MrCleveland 01-26-2016, 02:53 PM I never watched USA's Up All Night, but I did love TBS' Dinner and a Movie. I'm planning on making a Late-Night TV Show called The Craptastic Movie Show which shows a bad movie that the hosts riff and we show sketches, maybe we would have one episode where we make a dish like Bad Idea Sauce...which is a VERY hot and spicy sauce. The show will be a cross between RiffTrax and Big Chuck and Lil' John... 5yjm8K93u4Y egepLRAapY4 I just need editors, writers, and actors. Dude111 01-27-2016, 02:28 AM Yes both were pretty good! Torgo 01-27-2016, 03:02 PM USA Up All Night is where I first discovered bizarre movies like The Toxic Avenger and Return Of The Killer Tomatoes. Wow, the R-rated version of Toxic Avenger is highly edited, I can only imagine what Toxie would be like on commercial TV, almost seems pointless to even watch it like that. Granted, that was sometimes the only way to watch some of these movies. Vahan 01-27-2016, 05:13 PM Many people who watched USA Up All Night watched it for Rhonda Shear, and couldn't really have cared less about what movies were being shown, because they were edited for content and time. Also, two of Shear's films were featured on the program: Basic Training and Tender Loving Care. UMFaninMD 02-03-2016, 10:08 PM I liked Up All Night when Gilbert Gottfried hosted. The sarcastic way he talked about the movies cracked me up and the weird little segments between scenes made for a surreal viewing experience. I liked Rhonda Shear too and her crazy outfits. Now she sells her own line of underwear on home shopping networks. My mom bought me a couple of her items. Mace Dolex 02-04-2016, 12:32 AM Wow, the R-rated version of Toxic Avenger is highly edited, I can only imagine what Toxie would be like on commercial TV, almost seems pointless to even watch it like that. Granted, that was sometimes the only way to watch some of these movies. It was when I first learned of the term "B-movie" and found out that low budget cheap movies would skirt theatrical releases and go straight to VHS, I just found The Toxic Avenger just weird and totally unlike kid friendly The Toxic Crusaders syndicated cartoon that was also airing on Sunday mornings, cable TV was really booming and I was discovering lots of weird obscure cult movies. Tubehead 02-12-2016, 05:05 AM i used to watch tbs dinner & a movie then i used to watch this show i forgot the name but it was on tnt they showed older horror . sci fi movies!! |
