What do you guys think happened to her? Do you think she is still alive and not knowing who she is, is she dead from foul play, or was she abducted? I don't know what to think because the police seemed to have had no leads as to where she may have gone, unlike with Tara Calico, who left a trail such as bike parts, her cassette player, and other things. But Tammy seemed to have disappeared without so much as an article of clothing or eyewitness testimony as to where she might have been after being dropped off at that bank by a friend.

Well I personally have this segment, and it is indicated that whatever friend of hers was the LAST person to ever see her.
I wonder if that guy was ever enlisted as a suspect because I find him rather suspicious. I am inclined to believe that fren somehow has some involvement with / if not responsble for her disappearance.
Because, who will just leave a friend (much less say a pretty girl) stranded alone, barefooted and with no money in the middle of the road? Thats a very irresponsible thing to do to a girl.
And by all common sense no one will step off their ride when they had nothing on them.
I can think of 3 most probable theories of what had happened to her :
No. 1 - The money laundering ppl who she witnessed and feared so long for had her silenced.
No. 2 - She was abducted and very likely raped and killed.
No. 3 - The fren killed her and disposed of her body.

Personally, I think she met with foul play and she didn't go into hiding to protect herself. I think that whoever was "out to get her" found her and did her in. But what puzzles me is that she told her best friend prior to her disappearance that she "would be going away for awhile". Did she have some kind of premonition?

Suzanne, Tammy's sister, has stated that this person has been cleared of involvement. Tammy has a thread at Websleuths in the Cold Cases section, and Suzanne's comments can be found there easily.
The hospital didn't feel she had any mental problems, so she was released. My own opinion, and I mean no hurt or disrespect to Suzanne, is that the hospital missed the mark. They may have not done a very thorough psych eval, or she might have been in a lucid state or not cycling at the time of eval and therefore the doctors saw nothing wrong. Schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses are often diagnosed in late teens early 20s--the same age range as Tammy was when the symptoms started.
I DO think it's possible that she might have seen something on the trip mentioned in the segment which helped trigger a SMI (serious mental illness) episode, which convinced her that someone was after her and furthered the downward spiral. The behaviors that were shown in the segment are very very common in severe schizophrenia and bipolar disorders....somewhat classic even. Fear that someone is trying to poison them, that people are watching them. I do think she met with foul play once she was dropped off, but I personally feel that mental illness was the explanation for her previous odd behaviors. I know Suzanne does not feel similarly and of course anything I post unless otherwise stated is my opinion....and I would never mean anything disrespectful of either her or Tammy. Of course not everything about this case was in the segment either so I'm just working off of what I have read of Suzanne's postings on this site and Websleuths, her website, and the UM episode. Regardless of what happened and why, Tammy deserves, like all missing people, to be found and closure to be had.
