If Big Bang Theoy Continues to do this good, i think that CBS would be airing THis And Two And A Half Men after the Supper Bowl. (I THINK CBS IS AIRING THE SUPPER BOWL THIS YEAR)

If CBS airs a comedy after the Super Bowl (and they do have it this year) they will only air one. They will not air two comedies IMO. The front-runners for the post-Super Bowl slot IMO are Survivor, The Big Bang Theory, Gary Unmarried, and The Mentalist. No new shows will air after, and nothing very old will after (with the exception of two time post-Super Bowl slot holder, Survivor).

Why would they air Gary Unmarried? Lol, that show barely averages over 7 million for a new episode, even when up againist repeats.

If all continue to do well, we will see one of three:

a) The Mentalist
b) The Big Bang Theory
c) How I Met Your Mother

I say "Mother" over "Men" because it'll need all the help it can get leading monday nights, while Men can remain safe, averaging 14-17 million on a weekly basis! And "Mother" proved with the proper lead-in, it can be huge!

If BBT gets fantastic ratings this fall, I can't see them wasting it post-Superbowl when it isn't needed. Same goes to The Mentalist. But, I can definitely see them airing How I Met Your Mother, which is still relatively strong for a comedy but could definitely use the boost.

I think a strong contender is Survivor, though. With the franchise already declining in a rather big way and tough competition in Flash Forward this season, it could use a Super Bowl-boost for the All-Stars Edition.

The only way I can't see them using Survivor is if CBS is thinking about ending Survivor after the All-Star Edition, which wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I'd say Gary Unmarried is a contender as CBS is trying to start that Wednesday Comedy Block. If CBS is losing to ABC half way through the year, why not give extra promotion behind the Super Bowl? At this point, I still think The Big Bang Theory is the top choice because it can help the show explode. It doesn't matter if its big this year, and doesnt need the help. Look at the Super Bowl episode of Friends!

I would be stunned if it was Gary Unmarried. It is one of the lowest rated shows on CBS, and gets absolutely no promotion. They haven't run a promo for Gary Unmarried the entire summer. I could not see them wasting the Super Bowl on Gary Unmarried. The others all mentioned here I think have a chance.

I really don't think it'll be The Mentalist or any other crime drama for that matter, considering how poorly Criminal Minds did a couple years back. Big Bang Theory is probably a top contender, and it could definitely pay off. Considering that neither Old Christine or Gary Unmarried have gotten no promotion all summer and they're basically filler shows for the timebeing (which is a shame), I doubt it'll be either one of them. If HIMYM needs the help come January, that's another strong option. Maybe put BBT directly after the Superbowl with HIMYM after BBT? I don't see a reason why they couldn't do an hour comedy block after the Superbowl.

It's funny that everyone thinks that "Gary Unmarried" and "New Christine" won't get the post Superbowl slot because their ratings are too low. It seems to me that's exactly why they should get that time slot. Because they need it the most. But then again that would make way too much sense wouldn't it?

The reason they wouldn't be the post-Superbowl slot is because they're filler shows. CBS brought back Old Christine for syndication reasons and to get ABC off their backs. They brought back Gary Unmarried because it was relatively cheap and worked well with Old Christine before. The fact that they didn't move them and aren't promoting them at all clearly says that CBS just doesn't care about them at this point and don't plan on them having any bigger success.

I'd love to see either show get the post-Superbowl slot, though. I just don't see it happening.

I don't even watch anything after the SB but ESPN. By the end of the game, I'm just too tired to tune into anything else. I'm a big Criminal Minds fan and I didn't even watch their post SB show live.

That would be fantastic! Especially if they have all new episodes that monday night afterwards to keep momentum going!

It would be even better if both had Superbowl-themed episodes. CBS should definitely consider this.

HIMYM did a Superbowl-centric episode in season 2, and it was fantastic! I'd love to see another one.

For TBBT, the only story I could see working is Penny, Leonard, Raj and Wolowitz planning to watch the superbowl at Leonard and Sheldon's, when all throughout the game Sheldon does all he can to understand the concept of football. When he thinks he knows enough, he bets against one of the guys and loses, and through the rest of the episode, he'd try proving why "in theory," he won the bet!

LOL - that sounds like good enough concept to me. Maybe you should pitch it to them :D

I just wanted to bring this up again, because I finally saw a promo for Old Christine tonight - seems like CBS aired the promo during all 4 comedies. Yet, I haven't seen a single comedy for Gary Unmarried.

And, the promo for the BBT season premiere looks hysterical! Can't wait!

I think BBT is poised to have a great season.

I saw the Old Christine promo, too. I only recall seeing it once during the Monday night comedy block. Nothing yet for Gary Unmarried. The Big Bang Theory promo started airing during Fridays football game and aired during the weekend. It was the first sitcom to get a season premiere promo.

I only recall seeing one as well, and it was def. either during Two and a Half Men or it was a spot between the end of "Men" and the beginning of "Bang."

For Gary, I don't see it making it past it's 13-ep order. When Rules of Engagement returns, it def. won't be making a return to 9:30 on Mondays, and knowing CBS, even if it's only holding on by a thread, Accidently on Purpose will have a chance to grow with a full season.

I bet we'll see Rules of Engagement on Wednesdays, and say goodbye to Gary!

I believe you're right - I said all 4 comedies when I should have said the 9pm hour comedies. I recall seeing it first between Men and BBT, and then one during BBT. Not a bad promo, too.

I think it says a lot that we haven't seen one for GU yet. I do think ROE will be either airing Mondays at 8:30 or Wednesdays at 8:30. I think AOP will last the 13 episodes, but if it's doing worse than HIMYM I can't see CBS lasting with it. Same goes for GU.

Actually, though, I did hear somewhere that CBS ordered a full season of GU. Someone saw taping dates listed at a website for episodes 14 and 15, apparently.

They showed the Old Christine promo again on Tuesday during The Price Is Right. Still no Gary Unmarried promo sighted. Hmmm...

Saw it as well. CBS is also starting to show promos for the rest of their season premieres - so far, I've seen "season premiere" promos for NCIS, Criminal Minds, all 4 Monday comedies, Old Christine, The Mentalist, CSI: Miami, and Medium. That's the majority of their shows, and oddly enough, haven't seen a single promo all summer for Gary Unmarried.

EDIT: Just saw a 2nd Old Christine promo, which is a short 5 second spot but very sexy. CBS is also airing promos for their Monday comedies all over the place. I have yet to see one for GU.
