Why would Chrissy's mother drive all that way from Fresno to Santa Monica to go to her dentist? Isn't here dentists in Fresno?

My guess is that she made an appointment with a dentist in Santa Monica just so she would have an excuse to check up on Chrissy. One thing I noticed is on the second pilot (appearing in the Season 3 box set) the supporting cast isn't credited.
