View Full Version : Misconceptions
MickeyMac 08-24-2009, 03:42 PM What are misconceptions people have of you.
People have two of me (that I know of)
1. Everybody thinks I dont like anything that was made past the year 1966 (something that is so untrue)
2. Most people including my friends think I am a couple of can short of a six pack. Not true either. I am different I will admit that, and I am on the ecentric side, but I'm not insane.
Chocoholic 08-24-2009, 03:45 PM Some people seem to think just because I have vision and hearing difficulties must mean I also have intellectual difficulties. Not true at all!
Darren J. 08-24-2009, 05:39 PM Some people think I'm gay because I listen to Ginuwine, Jagged Edge, and other R&B musicians. Not the case.
ArchiesDingbat 08-24-2009, 09:14 PM i think people think im dum sumtimes cuz im so shy that i freez up and words dont come 2 me easy when i 1st meet people.
they think im gay cuz i got no b/f
InspectorExstead 08-24-2009, 09:49 PM Some people think that just because I'm shorter than they are that I will freeze up, get nervous and never say what I want. On the contrary, I've surprised people because I have a tendency to be more blunt off line than on line. I've gotten into a couple of arguments because of that, but I have tried to tame the bluntness. I don't let people walk all over me, and those that think they can walk all over-well, I show them. ;)
TheGreatPretender 08-24-2009, 10:02 PM To be honest I don't know what people's conceptions of me are, my problem is i THINK I know, and I automatically carry that with me, and I usually think it is something bad.

I don't get why people think that. I know a lot of guys that listen to those musicians.

You'd be surprised at how many people 1)Never heard of those musicians, or 2)Assume that their music is baby making music. You can make that argument about Boyz II Men(who I'm also a fan of BTW). Thing is most people my age listen to musicians like Lil' Wayne, Soulja Boy, and rock musicians. Unless it's R&B, I generally don't like today's music.
dawsongirl 08-25-2009, 12:14 AM That I'm a stuck-up bitch. I'm really not, I'm just untrusting and shy.

I think that people get that same feeling about me. Fact is I'm very open-minded and accepting of others. Hell I hang out more with nerds and awkward people.

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Paranoid is my middle name!!

Same here. I'm painfully shy and not a big talker. I'm just not good verbally.
70s show watcher 08-25-2009, 02:42 AM i think that people think im some sort of pushover because im so easygoing most of the time the other misconception is that people think im never serious and they act so surprised when i jump in and take care of things for people when they really need it

That.
beautifuldreamer 08-25-2009, 05:25 PM I don't know... a lot of people think I'm cheerful all the time, and eager to listen to their problems... but they only think that cause I have a smile pasted on my face 24/7 (which is really more out of habit:rolleyes: ). People also think that because I'm a music major, I want to perform for them at every chance I get.... ugh. And I think because I'm really quiet, people think I think highly of myself... but whatever.

I hate that. People think that quiet = arrogance.
browneyes106 08-25-2009, 06:15 PM One misconception that has happened to me a few times in life has to do with my age, my parents' age and the age of my siblings. I'm a lot younger than my siblings. They are 13, 11 and 8 years older than me. My parents were 34 and 37 when they had me. Anyway many people including a few of my relatives think I was an "accident baby". But in reality my parents had planned having a fourth child a couple of years after my sister was born. But my mom had trouble getting pregnant and when she did my sister was already 7 years old. One of my cousins once told my mom that having me screwed the generation gap in my family. That really made my parents mad.
I don't think my mom wasn't really old when she had me some people make it seem like she was in her 40's or 50's when she had me.
MickeyMac 08-25-2009, 06:25 PM Why is it that if you are quiet you are considered an oddball, but if you never stop talking you annoy people. Seems like I cant win.

That's just rude. Who tells someone they were an accident when they're not even involved??
