“Beverly Hillbillies” co-star Max Baer Jr. is thinking about buying a closed hotel-casino in Sparks, Nev., and opening Jethro's Beverly Hillbillies Hotel and Casino, the Associated Press reports.

Baer has a home in Lake Tahoe and already has approval to build a casino on another site.

Max has actually been working on this project for years. He's had trouble finding a site to build this casino. He's identified several sites over the years but has run into issues with neighbors and local governments that have prevented this project from being built. I hope this latest attempt is the one that finally comes to fruition. He's not getting any younger!!

I remember reading that he wanted to this back in 1999. I'm sorry it's taken so long for this project to come to fruition.

I visited his website (www.jethroscasino.com) a few months ago and read about all the problems Max has run into trying to build this project. There are also a lot of pictures and descriptions of what this casino will look life if and when it finally gets built.

I hope that he can get this casino/hotel off the ground. Like you said, he's not getting any younger, and it will be nice to see his dream come to fruition while he is still here to enjoy it!

I agree. I hope he is around to see this project through to completion and can enjoy the fruits of his labor.

That sounds like it would be fun to walk in and look around, even though I'm not a casino person. I echo everyone else's sentiments about his efforts. It's nice that he's obviously proud of his days as a "Hillbilly"!!!
