The cartoon family from Springfield has been given a makeover by an ad agency in the Republic of Angola, in south central Africa, before the show starts to air there.

Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and Bart lost their trademark yellow skin for dark brown skin after the company altered the programme's famous promotional shot, which shows them sitting on their couch together.

Marge's giant blue hairdo has been switched for a jet black one, while Lisa's spiky barnet has been braided.

All the characters have been dressed in African-style clothing and even the picture hanging in their living room has been replaced - with an image of elephants in the desert.

I've see a black Bart Simpson on tee shirts.
