Dirty Dancing Remake On The Way

Movie bosses are bringing Dirty Dancing back to the big screen - a remake of the 1987 classic is in the pipeline.

The film - starred Patrick Swayze as a dance instructor - took a massive $213 million (£133 million) at the worldwide box office and propelled the actor to international superstardom.

A sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, starring Diego Luna, was released in 2004 and a theatre production has been wowing audiences on Broadway and in London's West End.

And now film executives are keen to cash in on the continuing popularity of the movie, with a new version of the original picture.

Bosses at Lionsgate productions are currently developing a script with Uptown Girls writer Julia Dahl, according to Production Weekly.

I'm a fan of most remakes, but I think this one is a bad idea. Given the current state of Patrick Swayze's health, I think a remake of this classic is in poor taste. This is Patrick Swayze's signature movie. It should remain that way, in my opinion.

I was going to say that I might go see a movie like this, but you do have a great point. Actually I was going to say that if they didn't call it Dirty Dancing and it was only based on the original, then I would go see it, or at least rent it. I love any kind of movie about dancing, but Dirty Dancing was the best!!!

It might be barely like the original. Like the remake of The Cutting Edge.

I'm not aware of a remake of this.

What I do know is that it had two sequels made for ABC family that in no way related to the original.

The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold (2006)
The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream (2008)

The first sequel yes........2 was about the daughter of the main characters (who were now played by other actors) of the first movie.
