- Everybody Hates Chris Launch Marathon
Monday, September 7, 2009
10:00pm-6:30am ET/PT
Everybody Hates Chris joins the Nick at Nite family with an all-night Labor Day night marathon from 10pm-6:30am ET/PT! The series is inspired by the teenage experiences of comedian Chris Rock (who is also the narrator), while growing up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York in the early-mid 1980s. All 88 episodes will air on Nick at Nite as the show will air every night at 10 & 10:30PM ET/PT starting the next night as well as 2 & 2:30AM ET/PT. The series stars Tyler James Williams as the young Chris Rock. Tequan Richmond, Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Imani Hakim, and Vincent Martella also star. With recurring guest appearances by Todd Bridges, Ernest Thomas, Jackee Harry, and Jason Alexander.
-Glenn Martin, DDS
Premiered Monday, August 17, 2009
Regular Time-Spot Mondays at 8PM
Glenn Martin, DDS is the first television production to come out of Michael Eisner’s Tornante Animation Company. The original stop-motion animated series follows the life of Glenn Martin (Kevin Nealon), who yearns for a change of scenery and a deeper connection with his family. Determined to bring the family closer together, Glenn takes the Martins on a road trip to protest the destruction of a beloved childhood park. As things unravel right from the get-go, the family is forced to make the dental-mobile – replete with a giant decorative toothbrush on the roof – their new home. Glenn, Jackie (Catherine O’Hara) and Courtney (Jackie Clarke) – an 11-year-old future corporate maven who brings along her personal assistant, Wendy (Judy Greer), a 14-year-old North Korean exile – and son, Conor (Peter Oldring), the 13-year-old hormone-addled tween who’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed--quickly learn when hitting the road that the road can sometimes hit back in unexpected ways. The Martins are accompanied on their journey by the family dog, Canine, who’s pronounced buttocks only add to the hilarity.

Hm, interesting spots for Chris. Nice to see Home Improvement getting some decent treatment, even though late at night. The Nanny sure is cut.
As for Malcolm -- maybe it's doing better than we've been assuming? After all, it is getting 12am back and keeping 8-9pm.
So sick of Lopez it isn't funny. A week of it?
Scoobiedoo30 08-17-2009, 12:05 PM sad to see Fresh Prince Leaveing Nick@Nite.
Pavan 08-17-2009, 12:10 PM So sick of Lopez it isn't funny. A week of it?
Better to advertise Chris with their highest rated show airing non-stop a week before. As for Fresh Prince, a show from the dead (meaning stuck in the vault of Viacom) will replace it on The N in September. More on that this week on the blog.
That makes sense about George. I just hope they don't have any more marathons of it for awhile.
Hm, show from the dead on The N. All I can think of is Saved By The Bell, Growing Pains, or Full House that would fit. I don't know if they even have Full House anymore though lol.
Dontdomornings92 08-17-2009, 01:08 PM I actually like the new schedule like a lot. I am so happy that the nanny is going back to just the 11 and 11:30 slots evey night, that means it is still on at a time when I can watch it right before bed =) 4 hours of it a night was just overkill. I start school on the 8th anyways so its not like I will be able to stay up all night watching tv anymore. I actually think that everybody hates Chris will be a show I will like.
JulieSomoski 08-17-2009, 01:11 PM NAN is finally returning to their roots with some nice programming decisions this fall. The entire schedules seems pretty good to me. Obviously these little mini-marathons were just for the summer, with a consistent schedule returning in the fall. Chris at 10pm is a good choice, sandwiched inbetween George Lopez and The Nanny. Malcolm returning to midnight must mean it's doing okay for them, and the latenight marathons are also a good idea.
icecream 08-17-2009, 01:17 PM The times for George at 9 and Chris at 10 should be switched I think. It's a waste on Fridays and Saturdays for George Lopez only airing in the 1AM hour. Plus Malcolm in the Middle fits the most with Chris with them both being single camera and no laugh track/audience. The Nanny's ratings might drop at 11 going from George to Chris as a lead-in.

Both George Lopez and The Nanny are probably their strongest shows at the moment, so sandwiching Chris inbetween them is a very smart move, even if it is more compatible with Malcolm.

Oh joy... :barf:
bliggenstrauff 08-17-2009, 05:00 PM Yeah I'm sick of the Lopez too. Anyway, it's a good schedule overall though. Not as much overkill as July and August
yankeesrj12 08-17-2009, 09:09 PM I knew Malcolm in the Middle wasnt doing that bad. Nice to see it back on at 12am and more on the weekends. :)
DSfan 08-17-2009, 11:03 PM At least this schedule has more consistency than August and July's. Too bad Family Matters and Home Improvement are essentially being wasted in such late timeslots, though.
spunkygirl 08-18-2009, 09:05 AM Did Malcolm even do well in the midnight timeslot? Why bother to put it there?
Geez they sure seem to think EHC is gonna do well
If MITM bombs from 12-1 and Chris bombs at 10, they could go back to Lopez 9-11, Nanny 11-1, Chris 1-2 then extend the marathons an hour.

C'mon Beavis and Butthead!!!
chris31989 08-18-2009, 11:06 AM I just wish they would have given "Family Matters" a daily time slot.
Pavan 08-18-2009, 12:08 PM The series replacing Fresh Prince on The N is...
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/08/n-adds-full-house-ion-gets-more.html
Figured it would be Full House, as it's too old for a network like NAN to air in times when kids are watching now anyway I guess.
I guess Growing Pains is pretty much over with Viacom.
Brent88 08-18-2009, 02:46 PM This is a much better schedule than now. I like the fact Malcolm is back at Midnight. Very surprised to see Chris between Lopez and Nanny but it certainly makes sense to give it the best support possible. 3-6am is much better with a rotating marathon instead of lame FP, and I'm glad The Nanny is cut back considerably, but I wish FM had a more regular timeslot. It's better than just 6am though at least.
snick54 08-20-2009, 08:09 AM This schedule is SOOOO much better than the one they have now. Glad to have the 12AM Malcolm airings back. Also glad to see that they've dumped the ridiculous four-hour Nanny block.
spunkygirl 08-20-2009, 03:38 PM There's hardly anything on Nick I want to watch now that they've banished Home Improvment to over night's, and FM is all but gone too.
EHC and MITM-just meh
TVFactFan 08-22-2009, 04:19 PM I didn't see Family Matters listed which is probably for the best

I agree, nothing but Garbage
Buffyboy323 08-25-2009, 01:51 AM I didn't see Family Matters listed which is probably for the best
Why? I thought you liked Family Matters....
yankeesrj12 08-25-2009, 01:28 PM Glenn Martin DDS averaged 2.6 million viewers during its premiere week (Monday-Thursday, Aug. 17–20, 8pm–8:30pm).
The premiere episodes held 89% of its lead-in ratings (The Penguins of Madagascar) with kids 2-11 (3.9/1.4 million K2-11); 83% with Adults 18-49 (0.5/581,000); and 91% with total viewers (P2+).
I'd say Glenn looks like a success for N@N.
EDIT: I saw pavan just posted it in the other N@N thread. :)
Dontdomornings92 08-25-2009, 07:21 PM Does anyone else get this pop up http://www.news3show.com/finance/google-now-hiring-you.html evertime they visit this site??

You can't judge a show by the ratings it receives in a PREMEIRE EPISODE
JulieSomoski 08-25-2009, 09:16 PM You can't judge a show by the ratings it receives in a PREMEIRE EPISODE
It was actually 4 episodes that averaged this, which is what I think the article is saying. What I'm wondering is if ratings got worse as the week went on. I've only seen like the first 1 or 2 minutes of a couple episodes, and it just isn't my type of show at all. I also noticed they added in a laugh track, which was annoying me right off the bat.
But, if it's a success, it's a success.

Actually, this isn't that great of a schedule. While I am glad that Malcolm is back at 12AM and The Nanny isn't on for 4 hours anymore, I don't like that Family Matters is still banished to overnights. I also wish Fresh Prince was staying around. Good thing it will still be on ABC Family.

I still think it is MUCH better. I don't like that home improvement isn't on much though. I am sick of Fresh Prince on NAN and it is on ABC Family so its not like we won't be able to watch it =) I hope they don't dump The Nanny anytime soon.
Ok so I have a question do you think that they are going to keep this schedule for a while??
Dontdomornings92 08-27-2009, 12:41 AM Ok I know wikipedia is not always accurate but has anyone read this
"Beginning May 31, 2010, TV Land will air reruns of a CBS soap opera, Guiding Light. Upcoming shows will include The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, Home Improvement, and The Nanny. All of the shows are former Nick at Nite shows removed to make room for newer programming."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_Land
I have also read on both the tv land website (forums) and The Nanny wikipedia site that The Nanny will no longer air on NAN starting April 2010 and it will then move to TV Land.
Is there any truth to either of these??

Dontdomornings92 08-27-2009, 01:12 AM I don't get it "90's" shows like he Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, Home Improvement, The Nanny.... seemed to be working well on NAN, so why are they trying to change the network to "new" shows like MITM, Everybody Hates Chris, George Lopez...
Dontdomornings92 08-27-2009, 10:01 PM  ... no, likely just Wikipedia vandalism. They made like The Nanny was moving, but I doubt it will that soon at least.
See I doubt it is moving from NAN that soon either, it seems to be a hit on NAN. I searched it in Google and everything I found about The Nanny moving to TV Land in 2010 is from 2008, I mean things can change since then. I don't think that NAN ever expected The Nanny to be a hit and that they were planning to put it on only for the summer, but since it was a hit I think they are going to keep it on for a while =)

It's not a real clear indication of what's going on now (as the data stops in July) but its better than just seeing averages.

Very cool to see these numbers. Hard to make anything out of it, though, since I can't even remember what the NAN schedules was 3 months ago. Still, seems like Malcolm is doing slightly better than decent and The Nanny is holding its own. I'm guessing since then, Malcolm has gone down a bit while The Nanny has gone up.
Jude The Obscure 08-29-2009, 11:58 PM Funny about GL.....but FTR.....not all of the episodes are still in existence. If GL was ever to get any rerun play (very doubtful that will EVER happen), the run would have start sometime in the '80s, when tapes were saved from daily shows. Many episodes from the 50s, 60s and 70s are gone simply because of no kinescopes or episodes being "wiped" away.

yankeesrj12 08-30-2009, 12:44 AM From August 17th-23rd, George Lopez was the most watched Nick at Nite show with 2.74 million viewers!

These are exactly the ratings I've been waiting to see. This gives us so much insight as to what is actually going on with the ratings. Clearly, George Lopez still rules. Over 2 million for nearly every airing in 1 week is amazing. What's also pretty evident is that The Nanny is doing very well at 11pm. Over 2 million for a few airings is great. It does seem to be falling off with the midnight and 1am airings, though. It had below a million for 2 of them, but that still must be better than what FM was doing in the slot.
Overall, very interesting. Malcolm isn't doing that bad at all, while FM seems to be holding up in latenight. When you look at these ratings, NAN's September schedule makes a lot of sense. And, they're up quite a bit from last year I believe, so they're definitely doing something right.
Pavan 08-30-2009, 02:52 AM Family Matters never got below a million when it aired anytime between 11pm-2am. The Nanny is not doing well besides 11pm-12am. Clearly George Lopez helps it because it drops in other slots. Good that they are cutting it in September. Below a million in the 1am hour is unacceptable. Fresh Prince is a draw in those late night hours of 3-6am. These ratings didn't have the 8pm hour.

The Nanny is not doing well besides 11pm-12am.
I think that is because who wants to watch 4 hours of The Nanny, especially when they replay the episodes the next night at 11 anyways?? Actually to me that makes sense, the 11pm rating are great, the 12pm ratings are alright, then the 1am ratings start to get bad, and the 2am ratings are horrible because people are getting bored with 4 hours of the same show, especially when they know the episodes will be on the next night at 11 anyways.
Its obvious that George Lopez and The Nanny are the networks top shows right now though... I actually like the schedule for September except I still think that GL should be on at 10 and EHC should be on at 9 and that HI should get more air time but that is just my opinion.

Agreed - the 12am and 1am are repeated the next night at 11pm and 12am. It really makes no sense why NAN does this, but thats probably why ratings for the 12am-2am airings are much lower.
Still, the 9-11pm GL and The Nanny are well above everything else on the schedule.
Dontdomornings92 08-30-2009, 02:34 PM Wow the ratings have really gone up for The Nanny. In May the highest rating was "1788" then in August the highest rating was "2119".
breezen 09-01-2009, 11:56 AM Do the ratings reflect who's taping these shows vs. actually watching them? I have no idea who is watching Lopez because as I read through these threads, no one here seems to be.
I was checking in to see if my favorite NAN show "Home Improvement" had been put back at a reasonable hour. But it hasn't. And I'm not going to tivo it. <sigh>
I swim early in the mornings so as the line up is beginning, I am ending my day. And what do they put in the slot before I head to bed?
LOPEZ!!!
I give up. After many years of watching NAN at various hours due to various jobs, I am going to put this station out of my head. Since they've been running NBL (Nothing But Lopez) all summer, I have found many other shows that do what I like them to just before bed: make me laugh!
Dontdomornings92 09-01-2009, 12:16 PM Do the ratings reflect who's taping these shows vs. actually watching them? I have no idea who is watching Lopez because as I read through these threads, no one here seems to be.
I was checking in to see if my favorite NAN show "Home Improvement" had been put back at a reasonable hour. But it hasn't. And I'm not going to tivo it. <sigh>
I swim early in the mornings so as the line up is beginning, I am ending my day. And what do they put in the slot before I head to bed?

Right!?! I have no idea who is watching Lopez either, who can stand it?? I know I too have found other shows to watch late at night. I am not giving up on NAN though, I mean the schedule for September is MUCH better then it was for the summer.
spunkygirl 09-02-2009, 08:25 PM They seem like they show the same episodes of GL over and over. Everytime I watch it, I feel like I watched that episode just the other day.
I'm glad to see the Nanny is doing so well. I want it to stay at 11 pm, and good point about them repeating the episodes the next night, tis why I only DVR the 11 pm episodes

George Lopez is great. One of the few N@N shows I actually like.

Unfortunately, I agree. I don't mind George Lopez, but I can't stand these week long marathons when its the only show on all night long (well, except for 8pm). I know it does well and all, but this is overkill.
spunkygirl 09-02-2009, 08:42 PM I agree, I'm already sick of GL

Exactly! I just wanted to point out that I like GL but I have seen every episode too many times.

I am also very glad The Nanny is doing so well and I want it to stay at 11pm.

Premeire numbers don't mean anything
yankeesrj12 09-10-2009, 05:34 PM Premeire numbers don't mean anything
I agree, but it's always nice to see numbers from Nick at Nite.
JulieSomoski 09-10-2009, 07:38 PM Those are good numbers, about what The Nanny is doing on average. I'm hoping Chris can stay at this level and keep The Nanny up as well. I've been enjoying it this week, although I wont be able to watch it next week once Leno starts.
ThaMahstah 09-12-2009, 03:53 AM Well that was quick. It's Friday and already Glenn Martin's replaced Malcolm in the 12:30 AM timeslot.
That or I'm missing something.

I don't get this. Chris was supposedly doing great at 10pm. Maybe its GL that isn't doing so hot at 9pm?
Scoobiedoo30 09-21-2009, 04:40 PM I know I don't get this as well
TVFactFan 09-21-2009, 04:48 PM I'm loving EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS!!!!-lol
Pavan 09-21-2009, 05:34 PM It makes more sense to have Chris at 9.
In addition, George is back 10-11pm on Fri-Sat replacing Chris.
nickandmore 09-21-2009, 05:39 PM It makes more sense to have Chris at 9.
Yes, Chris at 9 is good. Fits better with Malcolm. Plus, it's a really good family sitcom, so 9pm should make it so more members of the family can watch.
However, the Friday-Sunday night episode "premieres" (meaning the first time an episode airs on N@N) are airing now from 2-3am. Which is OK for me, since I always DVR the 2-3am episodes (since I have other shows on at 10pm).
Scoobiedoo30 09-21-2009, 05:45 PM I think Chris will do good at 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm CT Time.
ThomasE 09-21-2009, 09:28 PM I wish NAN would make up their minds. I have never seen this many changes on the network in my life!
ThaMahstah 09-24-2009, 04:23 AM It seems like it changes nightly.
