I'd love to talk about some movies.

I'm looking for some underappreciated movies.

I have over 2,000 movies in my collection and now there is nothing I want. I`m hoping some people know of some real gems of movies that might be overlooked. So low budget, great acted movie that just flew under the radar. Any suggestions would be welcome!!!

Here is my list of movies you need to watch but probably haven`t.

The New York Ripper
Freeway
Hard Candy
Bubba Ho-Tep
The Experiment
Fido
Pink Flamingos
Filthy World
SLC Punk
Zero Day
The Boys From Brazil

Here are movies you should have seen but if you didn`t you need to watch them

Blazzing Saddles
Robo Cop
Hotel Rwanda
Unforgiven
Aclockwork Orange
Schindler`s list
Jerimiah Johnson

I`d love more feedback and get your opinions

Lesser knowns-

That Little Monster 1994-A girl gets a job babysitting for a strange couple, and their even stranger baby. Very David Lynchian.

Eyes Of Fire 1983- Surreal and atmospheric horror-western about a preacher leading a group of people in search of a new home. What they find instead is a haunted valley, and evil spirits.

Static 1986- A factory worker invents a device he claims can show images of heaven.

Poison For The Fairies 1984- Mexican horror film set in the 60's. A new girl at a boarding school befriends another girl who wants to be a witch. They soon begin to play deadly games together.

The Spirit of the Beehive 1973- In 1940's Spain, a 7 year old girl after seeing the movie 'Frankentstein' believes the monster is real and sets out to find him.

UFOria 1985- Quirky smalltown inhabitants prepare for an exterrestrial arrival.

The Reflecting Skin 1990- During the 1950's a boy becomes convinced the widow who lives up the road is a vampire.

The Quiet Earth- 1985- One morning a man awakes finding he may be the only person left.

The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey 1988- A group of people wanting to escape The Plague during the 14th century, dig a tunnel and find themselves in a modern day world.

Trust 1990- A pregnant highschool dropout meets a much older troubled man who carries a grenade

Freeway

Freeway is one of my favorites. I'm surprised it hasn't become more of a cult classic.

I love Russ Meyer movies. Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, as weird as it is- is probably Meyer's most "normal" movie.

I like showing Freeway to people who have never seen it before, and only think of Reese Witherspoon as little miss goodie-two-shoes, and watch their reaction.

Freeway 2 on the other hand, what a stinkfest.....

Has anyone seen Voyage of the Rock Aliens? I had never heard of this movie until yesterday when I found 2 sealed copies at Goodwill. This one stars Pia Zadora and I found out that it's considered a cult classic and not easy to find.

I have it on VHS. I like collecting these offbeat 80's comedies- to me it fits in the same mold as Surf II '84, Lobster Man From Mars '89, The Jet Benny Show '86, The Wizard of Speed and Time '88, Hyperspace '84, Remote Control '88....

Rock Aliens is a wacky silly musical comedy. It also has Ruth Gordon and Michael Berryman. It makes for a great double feature with Surf II as both poke fun at the 60's beach party movies.

and I'm on the hunt for The Fertilichrome Cheerleader Massacre '89

I saw that. I thought she was crazier than the pedophile...

There's another great movie I saw with a very small cast. It was Richard Linklater's Tape (2001).

The movie is just Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Robert Leonard in a motel room talking. Really good.

Once Upon A Time In America-with Robert De Nero and James Woods. Its the story of the rise and fall of Jewish gangsters from street kids to prohibition. Its mostly told in flashbacks, and its about three hours and forty five minutes but so worth the watch.

These are the movies people on here and other sites suggested I watch that I have gotten through Netflix

I just finished Lone Star and The Paper, both were good movies. Lone Star seemed very long and you kind of had a feeling how it was going to end but it was nicely done and they wrapped up all the loose ends. The Paper I liked and you got the feeling of how tough the newspaper business was.. I say was because the movie was made in 1994.... before all the Newspapers really hit hard times. I imagine today it can be downright depressing working for one today.

Both good movies if you are looking for a good story. If I had to choose I would say The Paper was a little better because it made me laugh.

Lone Star http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116905/

The Paper http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110771/

I also watched Leviathon, and Salton Sea. I thought Salton Sea was awesome, great movie with lots of twists and I loved the ending... terrific. Leviathon was a decent Movie. I really just thought it was an Alien rip off set in sea instead of space, but I was entertained throughout so what do you expect from a horror movie?

Leviathon http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097737/

Salton Sea http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235737/

Formula 51 I also liked. It has the comedy, violence that I crave, plus you get to see Samual Jackson in a skirt!!

I'd like to thank everyone for their suggestions, keep them coming! I have filled up my queue and it's great. Here is a movie that is pretty awesomley stupid. Granted this movie isn't for everyone, but if you like some low grade comedy wrapped up in an exploitation movie with a killer penis this is your type of show.

It's called PERVERT .

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460898/

It's a pretty decent way to burn an hour and a half.

Check out The Ugly (1997)

It's a New Zealand horror flick about a psychologist trying to get inside the head of serial killer, Simon Cartwright, who claims that beings called "The Uglies" make him kill.

Really good and this is a pretty unknown flick.

Local Color (2006)
advertisementA successful artist looks back with loving memories on the summer of his defining year, 1974. A talented, but troubled eighteen year old art student befriends an elderly alcoholic genius painter who has turned his back on not only art, but life. The two form, what appears to be at first a tenuous relationship. The kid wants to learn all the secrets the master has locked away inside his head and heart. Time has not been kind to the old master. His life appears pointless to him until the kid rekindles his interest in his work and ultimately gives him the will to live. Together, they give one another a priceless gift. The kid learns to see the world through the master's eyes. And the master learns to see life through the eyes of innocence again. This story is based on a real life experience. Written by George Gallo

In 1974, in the suburb of Port Chester, New York, the teenager aspirant artist John Talia has a troubled relationship with his homophobic father that does not understand his talent. While visiting his friend Yammi, John finds that the genius Russian painter Nicoli Seroff lives nearby and he decides to pay a visit to his idol. John finds a bitter alcoholic elder that still grieves the loss of his wife Anya many years ago but he successfully befriends the master. When Nicoli travels to the countryside in Pennsylvania, he invites John to go with him to teach him how to paint. Then John meets Nicoli's neighbor Carla who grieves that loss of her son, and the arrogant critic of art and Nicolai's friend Curtis Sunday. Sin Nombre (2009) English Subtitles
El Casper (Edgar Flores) (aka 'Willy') is a gang member initiating a young boy into his gang. The boy is given the nickname "El Smiley" (Kristyan Ferrer) following a violent initiation. Casper is romantically involved with a girl, Martha Marlene, but keeps the relationship a secret from his gang, fearing for the girl's safety.

Sugar (2008)
After he catches the eye of a scout while playing in his native Dominican Republic, baseball prospect Miguel "Sugar" Santos (Algenis Perez Soto) is recruited to play in the minor leagues in the Midwest, where he has difficultly adapting both on and off the field. I just watched a pretty great movie. Called Love and Sex 101.

It's about a man that is about to get married and he recieves a list of all the women he has had sex with and all the women he'll ever have sex with. His wife to be is #29 on a list of 101 women.

It's a great date movie and has some very nice turns to it.

Well, if you throw a couple of rare movies that you liked out there I'm sure some people wouldn't have seen them.

I have High Tension a very good movie. It ripped off a Dean Koontz book called Intensity. It was exactly like Intensity until about half way through and then it went into a total different direction. Good movie!!

Thanks for the suggestion.
