View Full Version : Bring on Season 2!!
Jude The Obscure 08-10-2009, 10:53 PM C'mon CBS make it official and announce season 2 already, esp in time for holiday sales!!
Season 2 still has a lot of great, fun episodes and the two parter that introduces the one and only Theodore J. Mooney is just classic :D
There are a few episodes I ended up missing on the Nick run so some will be brand new to me--including the one where Jack Benny plays a plumber!

I was hoping we would hear an announcement soon too. On the heels of the successful release of Season 1, this could make a great follow-up and be on the shelves for the holidays. I heard they were working on it but I'm not sure when they are aiming for a release date.
Edster2973 08-11-2009, 09:39 PM You have to remember that there's a huge process involved in restoring these shows to pristine condition, including original intros and such. With that in mind, and given that we're in a recession, CBS probably waited until the set was released so that they could see how well the set sells first before shelving out more cash to do further seasons. I'd guess that this is why there hasn't been an announcement yet.
One thing is for sure though, that the set sold very well and so Season 2 is due to come out as soon as humanly possible.

Jude The Obscure 08-11-2009, 11:01 PM I know this Ed......it is just a statement of encouragement :) I don't think CBS actually comes to this board

How do you know that Season 1 sold well. I bought it, and I'm hoping it did, but, how well did it sell? How did you find out how well it sold?

Oh, ok. Just making sure. I'm thrilled with the enthusiasm but the thing that I love about the set is that it was done RIGHT. The remaining seasons won't be done right if they rush through the process to quell our desire for faster releases. I don't mind waiting if at the end of the day we end up with a stellar product. Glad you feel the same. :)

It was mentioned at amazon.com that it was in the top 5 or 10 and I remember reading an article online stating that sales exceeded the expectations of CBS. In other words, we're guaranteed Season 2. Pour the champagne! :)

Okay, cool! Thanks for the information. I am so excited for Season 2 (in fact, all of the seasons), and I just want to make sure we get them all! I can wait, as long as they are done right, but, I hope we'll get an announcement soon!
Robert 13 08-13-2009, 09:44 AM It is Lucy afterall. I don't think CBS imagined it would sell anywhere near as well as "I Love Lucy". Now that it has, maybe they will work on both Seasons 2 & 3 so that they are released in quick succession. That would be excellent and they both contain some of my very favorite episodes. "The Camp Cooks" episode on Season 3 is a scream.

Thats the way I feel, take the time to get it done right. I'm anxious for it too, but if they need time to pull all that great stuff together, take the time !!!
rcbrad 08-14-2009, 07:59 PM It funny that you mentioned "The Camp Cooks" This is one of the episodes that I am really looking forward to seeing again in particular.
Jude The Obscure 08-17-2009, 10:33 PM I'm looking forward to seeing Lucy and Viv compete in the pie bake off! Oh that is so FUNNNNNNNNNNY!! Viv being so smug "I told you so! I told you so! I told you so!" and Lucy mocking her right back  And with Kathleen Freeman and Mary Jane Croft added in--what a great episode.
Also when they take in those two con men who use the ruse of the World's Fair to plan a bank heist :)
I also love the Ann Sothern "Countess" episodes!

I can't wait for season two to come out so I can see all these episodes you're describing!
Jude The Obscure 08-17-2009, 11:00 PM Well some of them are in Season 3, Marv

Well then I can't wait for season three to come out too! I just hope the seasons are released at a reasonable rate.
Robert 13 08-18-2009, 11:51 AM Season 1 was highly-anticipated and a very exciting release for Lucy fans. If CBS waits too long, they could miss the bus on all this excitement. Strike while the iron is hot. :D
Jude The Obscure 08-25-2009, 12:35 AM The public domain companies are! New "commerative lunch box style" packaging is seen from a new set at Amazon (got the e-mail today about it). What's bad is that people who bought Season 1 may this is another official release and buy it, instead of thinking season 2 will come out and therefore peter out any momentum season 1 had.
And read this error-riddled description to boot!
The lovable redhead with a knack for monkey business is back! Join Lucille Ball in her hit I Love Lucy follow-up series, The Lucy Show. Ball returns as Lucy Carmichael, a recently widowed secretary who works for First National Bank. From a branch in Connecticut to one in sunny California, Lucy trades one irritable supervisor Mr. Barnsdahl, for an equally bad-tempered boss, Theodore J. Mooney. Expect plenty of Lucy-esque blunders and office shenanigans in this hilarious smash-hit series! This is the queen of comedy doing what she does best: making people laugh. Also starring Charles Lane and Gale Gordon.
TeeVeeCloset 08-25-2009, 11:06 AM I actually pre-ordered this about a month ago because I'm a lunch box collector, I only hope it is a nearly full sized one since dimensions weren't given, but I knew I was getting the same old crappy PD dvd's, but yes I totally agree this could be very confusing and misleading to the uneducated consumer.

The likelihood of anyone being confused is slim however. About 99% of fandom who would even be remotely interested in such a release is bound to know what's up when it comes to season releases. The casual Lucy fan just wouldn't bother with this sort of thing. It's too fanatical an item for those who only watch Lucy in passing. This is something that's aimed at Lucy fans who must simply have everything, and these are the ones who'd probably know more of what's to be released than we do. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it...

Jude The Obscure 08-27-2009, 08:42 PM I went back and looked......is this just a lunch box? or does it have DVDs inside it?
And Ed.....you would be astonished to know just how clueless some people are, even Lucy fans...

Hey Jude my friend,
When I preordered the lunchbox from amazon, I ordered it with alot of stuff that won't be released for about a month, sometimes they ship separately, but so far it hasn't arrived but I definately believe that it contains the same old PD episodes on at least 2 dvd's inside....it seems to be a new trend in PD DVD releases to incase them inside lunchbox tins.....I got a great "Full size" 6 Blondie Movies set about a month ago.........I still agree that the description is terribily misleading and is a synopsis of the entire "The Lucy Show" series and yes could be terribily confusing to the average consumer....mentioning Charles Lane when he could only be in two possible episodes from season one is a perfect example for confusing people that this could be a season one set when it definately isn't!
Jude The Obscure 08-28-2009, 11:56 AM Thing is, Lucy NEVER worked for Mr. Barnstahl as a secretary.
And she also never worked for Mr Mooney in Danfield (except for that one episode when she wanted to earn extra money and ended up causing a run on the bank )
My mom got a tin box set last Christmas with the same old episodes we have in other sets. Only bonus was it had some Dick Van Dyke episodes also included.
