Darlene. She could be just as annoying as Becky was when she was a teen, but I agree she was far more down-to-earth.

Becky Number One for me.

Darlene for sure! Then Becky #1...and NEVER Becky #2.

Definitely Darlene for me as well. Becky was so self-centered and annoying. I loved Darlene's cleverly wicked sense of humor and her relationship with her Mom and Dad! :)

Tough question. Becky was supposed to be the smart sister, as she got better grades in school, but in reality, she was rather stupid. And she would always whine. On the other hand, Darlene could be just too much of a smart-mouth at times. I think I still have to go with Darlene though.

Darlene. Because I think despite the fact that she was the younger one between the two she was FAR more mature than Becky.

Indeed. Becky might have been older and gotten better grades in school, but when it came down to it, Darlene was the smart and mature sister.

Darlene. I never liked Becky much...no matter who was playing her.

I had always preferred Darlene over Becky, especially Lecy Goranson's Becky. I liked Sarah Chalke's Becky better, but that's just me. I didn't care much for the whole "Darlene is depressed" storyline. I missed the funny, witty, smart alecky, sports loving Darlene. When she was going through her depression, she had none of that. She was just dull and bland. All she wanted to do was hole up in her room and read. I was so glad when that storyline ended.
So I choose Darlene pre and post depression.

A fine example of Becky being smart but acting stupid was the episode where they had to cut up frogs for science class and Becky didn't want to, so she took a C for the class. What doesn't make sense to me is that she wouldn't cut up a dead frog for science class, yet she would eat meat. Meat is an animal that has been killed and chopped up. What's the difference, really?

Anyway, that's my two cents...:)

It kinda annoyed me too that Darlene gave up sports like she did. ohno: and instead all she did was lay around in her room being depressed all the time either reading, writing, or just doing nothing but watching TV. In the end I was glad when she came out of her depression but I still missed the tomboyish sport-playing Darlene. Kinda wish they would have stuck with that story line for at least another season. Though her wanting to become a writer like her mother was pretty good too. :)

I guess the difference is, that you don't have to kill the animal yourself. And there's a also a difference between killing an animal for food and killing an animal for "science".
And as a Swede, I can't believe American schools actually make students do this.

I didn't look at it that way, I guess. I never had to do that in school, except we had to cut up nightcrawlers when I was in 8th grade. We had a Anatomy class in high school, but I never took it, because they actually had the students "work on" dead cats and I would never do that! But, I still eat meat as long as I don't have to kill it, I'm fine with it. There is a difference between killing something for "food" and then killing something for "science" so I do agree with you on that. I will never make my children cut up any animal for science if they don't want to.

Darlene was my favorite Connor kid...period! With Darlene, she was the kind of "what you see is what you get" kind of person or down to Erath as others have mentioned. And yes, Darlene was SO MUCH smarter then prissy, self-centered Becky. My favorite thing about Darlene was that she had a knack full pulling stuff out of thin air and I think no one could have played Darlene better then Sara Gilbert. Her delivery of her lines were even funnier then the lines themselves.

She's also my favourite character ever in TV.

Definitely Becky, for me. Darlene was good but too moody and complained too much. She got on my nerves so much I wanted to smack her. Becky all the way!

I hate Becky so much. I grew up hating Becky, I actually think that partly shaped my personality. Becky's a major bitch, like when they had to close the bike shop, she just thought about herself. She's just a selfish brat.

There's one episode that comes to mind for me where both Darlene and Becky were down-right-self-centered inconsiderate brats! Roseanne wanted to have a "just the girls" day with them, and neither one of the girls was in to it. It was a rare instance where Roseanne made it known that her feelings were hurt. When Dan heard about it, he was "livid", and let both of them have it!!

But I guess I have to prefer Darlene over Becky. I think just because Sara Gilbert played the role so well, is a good actress, and (even though Darlene could be so mean spirited), she was funny. When Becky started acting up and being selfish, it just wasn't humerous. As for Sarah Chalke's Becky, I don't know that she was meant to be mean or self-centered at all.

I know what episode that you are talking about and I agree that it was horrible what they did to Roseanne! Never would I do that to my mother because she does so much for me and deserves the days that are given to her. Darlene and Becky should have done the same for her instead of using the situation as an opportunity to get what they want out of her. As you mentioned it was one of the rare occasions we really see Roseanne's feelings hurt and when Dan learned about what happened he went up there and told both of them off which I am glad. It was actually when you think about the rare instance when you saw both Darlene and Becky team up together to get something they wanted, regardless of how selfish it was.

However, I still prefer Darlene over Becky mainly because I love Sara Gilbert. She was so perfect for the role of Darlene, I can't think of anyone who could have done it better than she did. Not that but she also because she reminds me a lot of myself. As for Sara Chalke I think she played Becky to where she seemed more mature and less selfish which was good I thought, however, there was a point from time to time you missed Lecy Goranson's Becky.

Becky...number one becky tho lol

I loved becky...although I will concede that is it understandable that she is less liked

Darlene was cynical...sarcastic and a wiseass...very realistic for a teenage girl

Becky was bratty, whiny, and argumenative...also realistic for a teenage girl

Becky got good grades...helped around the house..Darlene always gave a fuss

Darlene was more fun to watch but Lecy was an amazing actress and her portrayal of Becky Was kickass
