Former NFL MVP Rich Gannon (2002) is a host on Sirius NFL radio and came out with his rankings of NFC East quarterbacks:

1. Tony Romo
2. Donovan McNabb
3. Eli Manning
4. Jason Campbell

Here's what Gannon had to say about Romo: "I think now that he's dumped Jessica Simpson, he's got the golf clubs in the closet, he's able to focus, he's got rid of T.O., I look for him to have a great year, absorb and take on more of that leadership with the Cowboys. I just think he's got the best skills of all those quarterbacks. ... He's a great competitor. He's got a little bit of that gunslinger mentality like Brett Favre. He's willing to take chances. I really think he's probably going to have his best year in the absence of T.O."

On McNabb: "Tony Romo ahead of Donovan McNabb, it's by just a hair. I think that Donovan McNabb is a solid player in Philadelphia. I think he certainly gives them the best chance to win. Remarkable run, all those championship games that they've been to. But they haven't gotten over the hump and that's the thing that concerns me a little bit. The other thing is, I'd love to see Donovan McNabb stay in Philadelphia in the offseason and train with that football team. I just have a hard time with a guy who packs up at the end of the season and moves out to Arizona; he lives out there and works out there. I just think, in this day and age, with the amount of money you're talking about and the importance of that offseason program, that I want my quarterback in town in Philadelphia."

On Eli Manning: "I think he's gotten better each year and that's certainly something the Giants are very aware of. He had his best year last year in terms of his completion percentage, up around 60 percent, his passer rating [was] 86. The thing that has always concerned me about him is his completion percentage. Not the most accurate guy, just a career completion percentage around 55 percent. But I will say this: the Manning boys are tough. They are great competitors. They are tremendous leaders. He's the perfect fit for Tom Coughlin and that offense and that football team. ... The other thing I like about him is he lines up and plays every week. Four years in a row he has not missed a game. I look for consistency at that position and he brings it to that football team."

The other thing is, I'd love to see Donovan McNabb stay in Philadelphia in the offseason and train with that football team. Who the hell cares where a starting QB trains in the OFF-SEASON, and how does that correlate to how good of a player and QB he is, in general & in the NFC (specifically the NFC East division). Where a player trains in their spare time has nothing to do with absolute skill and talent. I get his point, but it doesn't mean much to me in terms of value, when he's comparing Romo to McNabb, and the skills they possess and who's better of the 2.

P.S. I like how he completely ignored a breakdown of Jason Campbell, and didn't mention him at all, towards the end. GarfieldKool, you might have to find a new starting QB or perhaps slap Rich Gannon around a little bit :lol:. jk

Mcnabb is still the best QB

Here's how I rank the QB's:

1. McNabb
2. Eli Manning
3. Romo
4. Jason Campbell

Rich Gannon has one thing right about Romo. He is rid of all of his distractions. And I think he will have a great season as a result.

Who the hell cares where a starting QB trains in the OFF-SEASON, and how does that correlate to how good of a player and QB he is, in general & in the NFC (specifically the NFC East division). Where a player trains in their spare time has nothing to do with absolute skill and talent. I get his point, but it doesn't mean much to me in terms of value, when he's comparing Romo to McNabb, and the skills they possess and who's better of the 2.

Yeah, we were totally ignored by Rich Gannon, but who the hell is he anyways?! JC will have to prove himself this year, that's all that it boils down to.

I will say one thing though...Manning did come through when it counted. Romo really hasn't done anything yet.

You got that right, I'm still mad that d*ckhead ruined my Christmas on Dec 25, 2006 when they lost at home to the Eagles-LOL


I think the NFL schedule makers are going to keep putting the Eagles on the Cowboys schedule in December until they beat them

Manning did not win a playoff game until his sixth year and was 0-3 in the playoffs prior to that; this is Romo's fourth year and he's only 0-2.

0-3. I count that Eagle game last year as a playoff game. Dallas wins and they're in and Romo played awful. It was one of the worst games I ever saw him play.

I hope you're right about Romo though. I want to see him do well.

McNabb and Eli are both better than Romo. Romo was a temporary solution when Bledsoe starting sucking and constantly throwing to Terry Glenn. Instead of finding another QB, they kept Romo and let him play, no matter how bad he was.

I have to disagree with you there. I have some problems with Romo, mainly his need to be a celebrity QB. I'll admit he looked awful in that Philly game but the whole team did. He's a better than average QB right now. He's been to 2 pro bowls. I don't know how you can just dismiss that. He was injured last year too. We'll see what kind of a QB he turns out to be this year without T.O. although T.O. wasn't much help last year. He only had 3 good games. The verdict is still out on Romo IMO but I do think he's better that a lot of starting QBs. What he really needs to do though is protect the ball...that drives me more crazy than anything. Romo is our best QB since Aikman. If you lived through the Quincy-Chad years, Romo looks like the second coming of Johnny Unitas. :lol:
