98 years ago today, on August 6, 1911, Lucille Desiree Ball was born. If Lucy was still with us she would be 98 years old today! Happy birthday Lucy and thank-you for the legacy of laughter you left behind! (much of which is finding it's way to DVD this summer!)

Happy Birthday Lucy! Very cool that she's the same age as my grandad! He'll be 99 in November!

Lucy is missed, but we are lucky that she left behind a legacy like no other. It is my belief that there has not been a person before, since, or ever who can hold the claim that they brought more laughter, more joy, more happiness to people than Lucille Ball did and has and will continue to do.

I once wrote to Gary Morton, probably about 1990 or 1991, and he wrote back a short note thanking me for writing. He also wrote what I believe is one of the best "tributes": "Keep on watching 'I Love Lucy,' a good laugh can chase away your woes."

I highly consider Lucille Ball and all the other greats that came from her era to be those who were special. It doesn't take long to glance at an episode of I Love Lucy and realize that "Wow, she is talented." Because she truely was, and I found her talented even before I Love Lucy debuted.

All that hard work and effort that she put into her life has really paid off. It's been 20 years since she passed away and people still remember her vividly. It takes years of dedication and practice to be as good as Lucy was. Even then most people can't pull it off because they simply don't have the discipline or work ethic. There is no one like Lucy today. I think the best thing to remember about her is she was not only funny and hilarious, but she created something that has lasted for decades. A lady who wanted to make a difference, and succeeded.

Blows away all of today's Hollywood actors out of the water.
