Robert Pattinson has been named the sexiest man in the world in a new poll by Glamour magazine, says The Sun.

The Twilight star beat competition from Johnny Depp and Hugh Jackman to top the list compiled after surveying 2,000 women.

Speaking about the award, he reportedly said: "The hottest actor stuff doesn't really mean anything. You have a month maybe with all this heat and hype."

Earlier this year, the 23-year-old came third in Company magazine's list of the most eligible bachelors, while he was also voted the most attractive man of 2008 by Hello.

The top ten sexiest men are:

That's so weird because I was just at Wallyworld yesterday, and I was near some posters, and the one on the outside was of Robert Pattinson. I thought to myself "I just don't see the appeal". Maybe because I'm just an "old fogey"!!:D

I know plenty of sexy people who are not famous.

i agree but the thing with polls such as this one is that they are based mainly on looks more than anything else such as talent and personality. out of the 10 guys on the top ten list, i'd say only johnny depp and hugh jackman interest me.

well, as i mentioned, neither of those guys would interest me, they do nothing for me at all. and why is it always the big names that get mentioned? most of the male celebs i fancy are either relatively unknown or not as big as pitt, clooney, beckham, timberlake.

it's like whoever is flavour of the month they just go with it. and yet for you it's that guy in your avator, trapper from M.A.S.H, but the actor who plays him is not as huge as pitt, beckham etc.

for me, it's michael urie and although he is famous, he is not a worldwide superstar like those guys. but he is still great as marc on ugly betty and yes i find him cute ;) !

As for Pattinson, I don't find him that appealing either. Of course, I'm not a Twilight fan, so that could have something to do with it. But I don't think he's that good looking...

some song he wrote for the twilight soundtrack that i love is the only reason that bland movie was worth my time. so thanks to him for saving two hours of my life. sort of.

i'm pretty sure that if this poll had been carried out in the US or outside of the uk, the results would've been very different.
