Will this work? CBS and "CSI" producers are making changes to the show to help boost ratings, including giving Laurence Fishburne a makeover to help him appear more "relaxed."

Fishburne wore glasses and suits during his introductory season on "CSI," where he took over for departing lead William Petersen. Ratings fell sharply during the latter half of the season.

"We spent a lot of time talking to producers, talking to fans," CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said during the CBS executive session at TCA.

"Nick [Stokes] is going to get promoted. ... Sarah [Sidle] is coming back for the first five episodes. ... You're going to see Fishburne more settled in his role -- a more leadership capacity. ... He's more versed in the langauge of 'CSI' ... he's had a little bit of a wardrobe makeover ... our research said they wanted to see him more comfortable in his clothes. ... We think they're going to be happy with what they see."

After the panel, Tassler elaborated that Fishburne would wear his glasses less often and wear more comfortable-looking clothes.

A wardrobe change is not gonna make a difference for me anyway. The show is dead in the water without William Petersen. It is great that we will see Sara a bit in the upcoming season but it still is not gonna be the same. As long as William is off the show I won't be watching.

maybe they should do a crossover episode with "Extreme Home Makeover" next.
