What are some shows in re-runs that you think are being over-exposed? Here are some I thought of:

These are really the only channels I pay attention to, so there are probably more.

I love The Golden Girls but I agree reruns are getting played too much. Roseanne also airs once a week on Oxygen but it's a daily marathon. My local CW also airs two episodes in the mornings. I agree with you on George Lopez and The Nanny they get aired way too much. That's 70's Show wasn't really over exposed when it was just on FX. Touched by an Angel just recently started being aired multiple times on Hallmark. I agree the CSI franchise shows are really overexposed. NCIS and Bones are also starting to get that way too. I do wish Cold Case reruns would be aired more on TNT or another cable channel. That show gets shafted a lot.

I don't think Seinfeld is overly exposed. It only airs on TBS and no other cable channel. My local CW station airs two episodes at 11:00 and 11:30pm Mondays-Fridays. I know it does air on a lot of network affliates throughout the country.

I agree about Seinfeld.

browneyes, Scrubs is another good one. Totally forgot about it, definately over-exposed. It always airs 2 hours a day on WGN, then Comedy Central and MTV.

It airs mainly late nights on The N and Nick at Nite, but we can't forget Fresh Prince.

Another show starting to get overexposed in reruns is Degrassi:The Next Generation. It was ok when it reruns aired on The N. But it is being aired sometimes on MTV and there are many local network affliates airing episodes. I bet if Drake aka Aubrey Graham and Shanae Grimes hadn't broken through to the American entertainment scene. MTV wouldn't be airing reruns.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is getting plenty of airplay of CMT and also airs on TV Land.

I agree with all of these and especially Degrassi taking over timeslots is getting on my nerves. But, of them all, I hate the insane amount of airplays that AFV gets especially when WGN and/or ABC Family decide to ruin a night of prime time with 3 hrs in a row!!! It's terrible what they're doing. I used to like the show with Bob Saget but it's overexposure has made me despise it a little.

It wouldn't bother me about That '70s Show, but does the N ever pass season 4? In my 6 months or so watching this show in late night, I've never seen any of the newer episodes on The N.

I would say Fresh Prince as well. It seems that every time I turn on the TV it's on again!
Would Law and Order count? God, if I'm not seeing episodes of Fresh Prince, Law and Order is right there trying to knock them out of the running for most times a televsion show is aired in one day!!

Malcom in the Middle, I love watching the reruns, but They air like 4 episodes a day on FX, and Then 2 more on Nick at Nite, plus it is airing daily on My Network TV as well, plus it is coming to ION in the future, again I love the show, but there were only 6 seasons, so the same episodes get played often.

FX airs 4 episodes a day, and Nick at Nite airs 2 episodes a day, so thats only 6 episodes a day. Considering how much other shows run a day (The Nanny, Fresh Prince, Degrassi, etc) I would say Malcolm in the Middle isnt run that much. There was 151 episodes over 7 seasons (not 6 seasons), so the episodes are more spread out than other series'.

I think Malcolm in the Middle gets overplayed. It's on The CW and now on Nick at Nite. I don't really care for it.
Where I live Fresh Prince is only on Monday-Friday on Nick at Nite at 3 am. I don't get overexposed with it.
I don't get WETV where I live, only Hallmark so The Golden Girls isn't too bad. It's one of my favorite shows.
They play Little House on the Prairie on Hallmark as well as TV Land.
George Lopez and The Nanny are currently overplayed on Nick at Nite as some of you have said and I'm not a big fan of either show.
Home Improvement used to be on Nick at Nite and TBS until they got Malcolm in the Middle, now it's just on TBS in the afternoons Monday-Friday.
Roseanne is definitely overplayed on TV Land, it's also on another channel in the afternoons. I bet Roseanne is loving it, all the money she is getting from all the reruns.:rolleyes:
Family Guy is played a lot as well as Scrubs and Sex in the City.

Nick@Nite used to show it all night, for like 3 hours straight, and it's on TBS, BET & even Fox Family. I love the show though. I don't mind the reruns. What pisses me off is that Nick@Nite cuts out stupid things in the show, for no reason, same with TBS- along with the whole theme song sped up on TBS, which is stupid as hell....and the fact that Nick@Nite airs the same episodes night to night, and just shifts an episode up a half hour each respective night after....gets annoying after awhile.

Married with Children - TBS, FX, Spike TV, TV Land (sometimes), and even on Me-TV (my local station in Chicago).

I don't think those shows are overplayed either. Family Guy is overplayed more than King of the Hill.

I noticed a few people mentioned The Simpsons. I know a lot of network affiliates air the show. My local Fox stopped airing reruns in late 2007. Years ago they would air episodes at 5 and 10. Back in 2004 they started only airing one episode at 10. They stopped airing reruns to show air Jeopardy which also comes out on my local CBS. The Simpsons doesn't air on any cable channels.

I have noticed that shows like Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and the King of Queens are getting lesser airings on cable and local channels.

Anything that is currently playing in reruns on any of the major cable nets and local affiliates.

America's Next Top Model---it currently airs on Oxygen (it airs ALL DAY on Sundays) and Bravo and has in the past aired on VH1, MTV and i think at least one other network. It also continues to produce new episodes for the CW.

You're right, I do live in Canada, and the TV package I get is more than "basic" - something like 300 channels available - but almost every channel airs either reality TV or airs shows like "Two and a Half Men" or "CSI" etc., over and over. The last channel that aired "The Golden Girls" and "Roseanne" folded a couple of years ago and was rebranded as a reality TV station. TV is extremely pathetic and terribly lacking where I live.

On Hallmark Channel they should replace the 11PM-1AM airing of The Golden Girls with Home Improvement.

O I know! They've had it always in that same time slot for; first 5 nights then 6 nights a week ever since they went national in 20012!!!

MASH is like an unwelcome houseguest. Once it shows up, it never leaves. It has to be the most overexposed and rerun sitcom in history. In my area in the next 2 weeks, it will be on over 100 times! Others that tend to get shown a lot include "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Mom", "The Goldbergs" (the new one), "Seinfeld", "Family Feud", and especially "The Big Bang Theory" (and "Young Sheldon" when it likely joins the group in Sept.)

As Katie Ann mentioned, in Canada, we are very lucky if we even get to see any of the old stuff. Did you know that "The Brady Bunch" (which Me-Tv seems to play and publicize to death -- or so I've heard!) has not aired on a Canadian TV station in the last 10 years? Let that sink in a while and bask in the unfairness of it all. Before CHCH came to the rescue and brought back some great old series like "Bewitched", "I Love Lucy", "I Dream Of Jeannie", and "The Partridge Family", and even a rarely seen gem like "Gidget", Canada used to have 3 classic TV retro stations. 2 of them are now reality channels and the other (DejaView - "the channel devoted to bringing you TV’s ultimate classics from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s") now carries "Rules Of Engagement", "The Middle" and "Scrubs". So we are really shafted there. Meanwhile, "Rules Of Engagament", "King Of Queens", "Family Guy" and others keep playing on and on with no relief in sight. While The Middle is a recent show, it is one of the few modern sitcoms that is on the level of past 20th century classics. The Middle was easily the best sitcom of the 2010s decade, and better than any US sitcoms from the 2000s decade, only Corner Gas passes it there. It is too bad Family Guy didn't remain cancelled, and The King of Queens is way overplayed here as well. Young Sheldon just finished its 3rd season, wouldn't syndication wait until season 4 is finished and start fall 2021?

I think this discussion has more to do with quantity rather than quality. Good shows like "MASH" and "Three's Company" are just as guilty of overexposure these days as is pure junk like "Full House", "Rules Of Engagement", and "Rick and Morty". Sometimes you have to wonder if there really is too much of a good thing, not that many people will complain about it. That's why binge-watching is so popular. The problem is that there is so little air time to go around that when one series gets binged to death by certain channels, other less-seen but also good shows get left out, even some of the true greats. For instance, where I come from, "The Brady Bunch" is never on, "The Andy Griffith Show" is only a rumour, and "The Beverly Hillbillies" never get to load up their truck to go anywhere. I wonder why this is so since today those who still get cable can subscribe to over 1000 different channels but there's still no room for these shows on any of them. Why? Because "Seinfeld" and "MASH" refuse to leave or least give up one of their precious time slots, and that is just wrong!

well, at least HH hasn't always been in its current time slot.

The only problem I have with "Hogan's Heroes" is that they never show a complete episode anymore. It's on at 11:30 am every day, which just happens to be the time that CHCH will break in with a news update and then our moronic PM Trudeau comes on and updates everyone on his latest plans to combat COVID-19. It makes me so mad that I've given up watching it altogether. On some days, his endless nonsensical rambling spills over into 12 noon which is when "The Partridge Family" comes on. For that, I will never forgive him.
