who here believes that it's unsafe to do these things? I've never believed it, I mean what do offices do? And what if you're in the bathroom and a thunderstorm starts? Or on the phone and one starts?

I've never heard that before at all. I don't see what harm using the bathroom would do during a storm. The phone? Maybe, just because of the electricity. I'd actually be more worried about using a cell phone during a storm, but you'd have to be crazy to stand outside during a storm anyway!

I wouldn't be worried. We rarely get thunderstorms over here though.

I was once told that if you use a landline during a storm and lightning strikes the telephone line you can get injuried. I dont know if that is true or not.

I don't believe it about the bathroom. I never use the phone during a TS though. My sister was on the phone once during a TS and she got a shock. I don't take chances. lol

I remember seeing a Rescue 911 episode back in the day where a guy was on the phone during a thunderstorm and lightening struck the phone line. It literally jolted him right out of his shoes! :eek: After seeing that, I never wanted to chance it, LOL

It is, just ask my cousin, he was taking a shower one time during a thunderstorm and nearly got zapped

I don't use the phone. I've never heard anything about not using the bathroom. There was a kid in my city (I didn't know him) who was electrocuted in front of his tv set about 10 years ago.
