View Full Version : Do you think Roseanne is making a historic TV Land moment?
TVFactFan 08-01-2009, 03:29 PM I know for a fact that in the 9 years I watched TV Land in this apt, I never remember seeing any other TV Show being aired from 9pm al the way to 4 in the morning-lol I mean the ratings must be like KABOOM!!!!. But I just want to say this must be a wonderful thing if you are a Roseanne fan and it must be wonderful to know each night your show will be on all evening long. I know I would be in TV heaven if one of these shows below got this treatment
Three's Company
Jeffersons
George Lopez
Cosby Show
I know this show must be delivering ratings that TV Land has never seen before
Overdose 08-01-2009, 03:39 PM When I type in "Roseanne" on Twitter, I see hundreds of tweets about how people are watching Roseanne all night long and how much people LOVE Roseanne. What people forget, is that during Rosenne's prime it was probably the best show of all-time.
Many people only remember the downward spiral of the later seasons, especially season 9. But seasons 1 through 6 (and most of season 7), were pure genius. And that's mostly what TV Land is airing, seasons 1 through 6.
The show, especially in this economy, is more relevant now than when it first aired. Roseanne is also more 'real' than most reality shows we see today.
The fact of the matter is, Roseanne is truly a modern classic. Kudos to TV Land for realizing this.
icecream 08-01-2009, 03:43 PM You'll be in heaven tomorrow night then. George Lopez has a marathon on Nick at Nite from 9PM-4AM.

Not really because I work on Mondays and it would have been heaven if it aired TONIGHT-lol
JulieSomoski 08-01-2009, 04:09 PM Ratings, I don't know. But Roseanne is still a hugely popular show with a huge fanbase that still supports it. And as a Roseanne fan, I have to say that it is nice knowing that I can watch Roseanne until I go to bed every single night, lol.

Someone mentioned it maybe because of the economy but I woukd think that someone who is struggling would want to escape reality not be reminded of it-lol

LOL - Roseanne offers a completely realistic look at an average middle-class family in suburban United States trying to get by week to week. I just think it reminds so many viewers of themselves and the problems they're dealing with, making it something we can all relate to no matter where or when it airs.
factsoflife 08-02-2009, 05:58 PM You know when it first aired i wasn't a big fan of "Roseanne" i found it tacky and distasteful. I watched it a few times because it had a few gay characters on it, but i never liked it. With that said, now that i've grown i can find humor in some of the episodes. I love the Darlene character who was so much wiser than those around her and it's a shame she ended up a college drop-out, though not surprising given her family history.
My favoite character was Jackie and my favorite season is actually the last season! i love the idea of the family winning the lottery!

She went to college for 3 years and then got pregnant. I remember an episode where she said she was still going to finish up her last year. I can't remember which one exactly...
But where is the proof she "dropped out"!?!?!?
dakert 08-02-2009, 10:02 PM I always assumed it was easier for TVLand to air a show AD NAUSEUM than to actually think about and be creative in what they broadcast.
TV Land Sucks!!!! unless you really really like Rosanne

well i haven't watched the show on a regular basis, i just remember seeing an episode where i thought she had decided to drop out of college; and i recall she tried to hide it from Roseanne and Roseanne and Dan went nuts when they found out. But perhaps i am wrong. Like i said i've only ever watched it on a sporadic basis and never in order.
Schmoopie 08-03-2009, 01:55 AM I can't get TV Land, but we can see the TV listings (really ticks me off that we can see listings for stations we can't get-like TCM!), and actually I'm GLAD now that I don't have it. I swear there were at least two twelve hour blocks of Andy Griffith, then they were showing some stupid reality show (why the 30 minute break, I have NO idea!), and then they were going to start the endless showing of Rosanne! Nice originality, TV Land! And how much do you want to bet that they would repeat episodes during these long blocks. I bet they show the same episode at least three times. Nick at Nite used to do that, and it really irritated me.
