Got this thread idea from a thread in the General Discussion area. My mother's dad would be 90 years old today. He died on his 40th birthday in 1959.

Happy birthday up in Heaven, Grandpa Amos. We'll meet each other some day.

I can think of two people locally off the top of my head. I didn't know them, though, but remember them because their DOB and date of deaths stick out in my mind. One died on her 22nd birthday last summer and another died on his 27th birthday earlier this year.

My maternal grandmother (who I never met) died on her birthday (May 25, 1918-May 25, 1983).

I think it's really sad when people die on their birthdays. Can't think of any names right now, but it just seems more poignant when this happens.

Thanks for posting this link. The name that stuck out most to me on this list is Corrie Ten Boom. If any of you haven't read her book "The Hiding Place" I recommend it. It's about how she and her family hid Jews from the nazis during WWII.

Since that list comes from Wikipedia, It can't be trusted for reliabilty. Most anyone can edit the information at anytime which is one reason why I detest the website.

People who die on their birthdays are referred to as birthday perishers. Statistically it can be expected that one in every 366 people (0.27%) die on their birthday. In reality, many studies have shown a somewhat higher probability.

Stanley Fafara (Whitey on Leave it to Beaver) died on his 53rd birthday on September 20, 2003. He had e-mailed me and posted on these message boards 10 times in 2003.

Frank Bank (Lumpy Rutherford on Leave it to Beaver) missed it by one day. He died of cancer on April 13, 2013, in Rancho Mirage, California, one day after his 71st birthday.

Larry Breeding died in a car accident on his 36th birthday on September 28, 1982. He starred on the short-lived sitcoms Who's Watching the Kids? (1978-1979) and The Last Resort (1979-1980). He had guest starred as Laverne's boyfriend three times on Laverne & Shirley. He was dating Penny Marshall at the time.

Today I learned that statistically speaking, you are most likely to die within one month of your birthday. This is known as the "Birthday effect."

As far as I know, no one in my family died on their birthday, but my grandmother died a day before what would’ve been her 81st birthday.

He died on Tony Dow's birthday, which I remember due to it being my deceased mother's birthday.
