Full House of Morals: Candace Cameron Dedicates Life to Christianity … And Wine

For years Candace Cameron Bure, aka DJ Tanner, became a staple in the American home as she grew up in a “Full House” of drama, laughs and family fun. But after a ten-year hiatus from the lights and action, Cameron has just recently come back to the small screen to star in the ABC family series “Make It or Break It”. And for the record, don’t expect her to stray from her strong Christian values for the sake of showbiz.

“Family friendly roles are extremely important, it is who I am,” Cameron told Tarts. “I had family morals instilled in me as a child and I have a responsibility to be a good role model.”

But aside from raising three children during her decade out-of-the-spotlight, the 33-year-old kept busy spreading the sacred word by speaking at numerous churches across the country.

“When the kids are back in school I want to go back to visiting churches, it is a passion of mine. Christian faith is so important and sharing Christ is one of the most important things to me,” she added.

But that’s not the only thing Cameron is sharing with the world, the blonde beauty and her husband, retired NHL Hockey Player Valeri Bure, are playing the business card with their own Napa Valley exquisite line of fine “BURE Family Wines.”

“I retired (from professional hockey) to spend time with our kids and move with the family business,” Bure added. “I love wine, I love the learning the business side.”

Wow, that's great that she's ventured into a new career for herself. I was watching the "Full House" Biography on the Biography Channel and DJ's famous line "Oh Mylanta" came from Candace's refusal to say "Oh my God" on the show. She said that she said "Mylanta" instead and the writers wrote it into the scripts. Pretty cool!

Absolutely! She seems to be the only one from Full House that can really be considered a role model these days. Definitely the only "kid", compared to Jodie Sweetin and the Olson twins. Bob Sagat just disgusts me now, and I've lost interest in John Stamos. Something I never EVER thought would happen. The only one that I don't know much about is Dave Coulier. Haven't heard anything about his present doings. However, he did introduce Candace to her husband, so I'd say he is pretty high on her list of people she's grateful for!

Great article!! Yes, Candace is DEFINITELY a role model young girls should emulate. Candace's story reminds me a lot of Brenda and Wendi Turnbaugh, my friends who played Grace Ingalls on LHOP. That was their only acting job, but they are wives and mothers who have gone on many mission trips (Brenda's husband is a minister). They are both dedicated to sharing God's Word with the world. We need to hear more stories like theirs and Candace's.

I'm very happy for Canadace. I was watching the Full House episode of True Hollywood Story and I saw someone say above that they saw the Biography episode. Should I watch the Bio one too is there anything interesting other than the fact stated above (which, for the record, was never mentioned in THS).

I pretty much knew most of what they mentioned already except for a few things. It was a good show and it was interesting to hear them talk about their experiences. Here's a spoiler (sort of) that I didn't know about....

I thought that the cast decided to end the show at the 8th season but apparently it was ABC's doing. They said that the viewers TV habits were changing and that the family shows weren't as popular. That's a real shame, but I still think it's good that they ended it before Michelle became a teenager. True, they could have explored the childhood of Nicky and Alex, but DJ, Stephanie and Michelle were the true "star" kids on the show, since the show was created with them in mind.

^ I heard that ABC had decided to cancel the show at the end of the 1994-95 season and that it was either going to be picked up by the WB or UPN. John Stamos wanted to leave the show anyway, and it was decided the show would end rather than go on without him. That's the version I've heard over the years, anyway.

I don't mean to criticize Candace's religious points of view, but I still have unsettling feelings relating to her brothers alleged behavior on the set of Growing Pains. Kirk Cameron (to make a long story short), supposedly became very militant and diva-like in trying to make Growing Pains as squeeky clean (i.e. no sex, deliquent behavior from his character, etc.) as possible.

He is just awful, isn't he? In the Bob Sagat Biography special, they were making it sound like he was "so successful" in getting away from his "Danny Tanner" image. In fact, they practically harped on it, saying that he wanted to separate himself from the character completely. It's like he is ashamed of being a part of Full House, when in reality, he should be ashamed of what he's become.
I mean, I'm not as religion-oriented as Candace, but there's no way I could sit through even five minutes of one of his routines. If you read the reviews on Netflix regarding his stand up DVD's, they are practically all one star, two at most. About 99% say that he was swearing just to be swearing. I am SO glad that Jerry Seinfeld didn't go that route. I would have lost all respect for him.

Dave is still doing Clean Stand-Up Comedy and has a website called

and as for Lori Loughlin, any show that she does whether it be Sitcom or Drama, she doesn't use profanity or do any nude scenes on film.

Thanks for those updates on the other characters. I had forgotten about Lori Loughlin, although I don't know how. I agree about the four you mentioned and I'm glad you told me about Dave Coulier. He did introduce Candace to her husband so he must be a pretty good guy!

Oh and TMC, thanks for the link about the Bob Sagat stuff. After reading all those comments and the reviews on Netflix, I have absolutely NO desire to rent any of his stuff. I mean, I know he's trying to shed his "Danny Tanner" personality, but that's going a bit far! :eek:
