According to Yahoo! Music, American Idol season eight contestant Ju’Not Joyner used an online chat on website AI Now to accuse the show’s producers of forcing contestants into unfair contracts and manipulating the contest’s outcome. Joyner claimed that he was not invited back for his season’s Wild Card round because producers objected to his qualms about the contract signed by all Idol hopefuls regarding compensation on and after the show. He also maintained that the show employs writers to help guide the public toward voting for a specific contestant. Calls to Idol’s parent company 19 Entertainment were not immediately returned.

I have always thought certain parts of the show are rigged. I don't think the voting is rigged.

I think the producers have more say than they should. Like, bringing Tatiana del Toro and Normund Gentle this past season for wildcard??? That was purely for entertainment. But I get it, it is a TV show as well as a talent show. They want to entertain first. I do think that they tend to focus a lot on peoples' back stories a lot as well, almost like they want to influence from the very beginning who you are "supposed to like." I won't stop watching the show, though lol!!!
