View Full Version : Which thread that you started are you most proud of??
Brad Russ 07-30-2009, 01:29 AM I think I asked this question several years ago, but lets face it, that was several years ago, and new threads have been made, and new users have joined, and so I think it's worth asking again. I honestly can't think at the moment which thread I started that I am most proud of, but most likely it was one that was interesting, original, and one that got a decent amount of responses. If you can't think of your best one, just mention some of the ones that you're most proud of. I'll think about it a bit more, and post which ones I liked the best when I think of them.
TripperFan 07-30-2009, 08:24 AM One that got closed pretty early because of some #&@*$(* troll.
It was something like, "When your pets act like Seinfeld characters" and I allocated a character to each one of my cats based on their personality.
Thunder - always entered a room like Kramer (crashing in)
Simba - was the central, straightman, Jerry
Keisha - a bitch of a cat who could play Elaine to a T.
Gizmo - the lazy, lumbering and chubby sidekick to Simba
Dusty - Newman - doesn't hang with the other cats and prefers to suck up to, and think he's a dog.
;)
Pitooey 07-30-2009, 08:38 AM I didn't start it but Chit chat games was one of the beginnings for me. I jumped right into this thread having fun from the beginning.
Brad Russ 07-30-2009, 10:34 AM Man, I just re-read my original question and feel like such a dork now. Asking what thread you're most proud of makes me sound like a complete loser. lol!! I guess the better question is, what thread of yours do you think was the best?? There, that makes me sound a little less pathetic.
Janice Johnson 07-30-2009, 11:07 AM I am proud of my "Dave" stories.... :) Who ever thought my background character would be so big? :)
MickeyMac 07-30-2009, 11:35 AM All of them :D
Brad Russ 07-30-2009, 11:38 AM All of them :D
You've definitely started some good ones. I always enjoy hearing what you have to say. :)

That reminds me of a thread I started a couple months ago, and it lasted a whole two minutes on the boards. I won't get into detail, but the thread involved sex, and it would have been very entertaining to say the least. I understood why it was taken down though, because there's no doubt that it would have become R rated, and with kids having access to the boards and all, it would have been innappropriate. I still wonder what hilarity would have come from it, but oh well. I guess I'll just stick to keeping the sex talk between me and my buddies. ;)

What was it? "Which SO member would you sleep with?"
Doodyville10019 07-30-2009, 01:22 PM My first - and best - thread - "How Did You Guys Get Your Nicknames?"
Cactus Jack 07-30-2009, 01:24 PM Some of the ones that get ignored or deleted LOL
Brad Russ 07-30-2009, 01:30 PM What was it? "Which SO member would you sleep with?"
Oh hell no!!! Not even I'm crazy enough to go there!!!!!!! It had to do with how annoying it is hearing sex noises from others. Problem was I got personal and brought my own sex life into it, which would have opened up a huge can of worms. That's all I got to say about it. I don't want another of my threads to get deleted. lol!!
howierules86 07-30-2009, 01:46 PM For me, it was "What were the best and worst school years of your life?" I had just joined these boards when I started that thread (as a matter of fact, that's a thread I start at every message board I find and register at), and I got more responses than I thought I would, and ended up getting more replies than any other thread I started here (that was not a "What are you watching on TV? or "What song are you listening to?" thread). Thanks to everyone who responded to that thread. You know who you are.
Sharop 07-30-2009, 01:56 PM I was quite proud of my "Can you cook" thread and a thread I started on the Family Ties board about the friendship between Alex and Skippy.
MonarC 07-30-2009, 03:08 PM I like the threads about 'animal abuse awareness' and the one about my neighbor who wasn't taking care of his dogs and I reported his ass!
I'm particularly proud of the year end Hawkeye Awards threads. They were fun, but it was lots of work trying to come up with categories and winners, and to try to do something different and better the next time around.
I also like the DVD Critics Corner threads. Riffing on movies is fun. I haven't done one of those in a while. moslty because I haven' seen a movie in a while that's either not dumb enough to goof on or too damn terrible to comment on.
;)

Thank you so much. :)
Schmoopie 07-31-2009, 02:34 AM Man, I just re-read my original question and feel like such a dork now. Asking what thread you're most proud of makes me sound like a complete loser. lol!! I guess the better question is, what thread of yours do you think was the best?? There, that makes me sound a little less pathetic.
Actually Brad, I like the way you worded the thread. It sounds kind of cool and it's an interesting question. I never know how a thread is going to go over until I see how many responses it gets, so I guess my answer isn't a detailed one....
The threads I'm most proud of are the ones that get lots of replies. I always have a big smile on my face when I notice that one of my threads (most recently my thread about the Pacific Northwest Heatwave) has been replied to by so many people. It makes me feel like I've written something so worthy of people's time that they cared enough to post a response!
So :thanks:!!!
Andrea
I'm most proud of a very recent one. It was by far the most personal I've ever posted. It took me a very long time to admit I had an eating disorder, and the support I received from my friends here has meant the world to me.

I  you guys so much. Thanks for being there for me when I needed it.
Janice 07-31-2009, 08:54 PM I made this thread, "Elizabeth Montgomery was Gorgeous!" over six years ago, in June of 2003. It's still going strong at 600 posts. Its still on the first page of the forum too. There are some beautiful pictures in this thread. I'm proud of it.

Still the thread that I'm the MOST proud of is the "Weekend Chat" thread. It started out as a Saturday afternoon chat thread. I then decided to create a weekly thread where people can chat about their weekends. It's now a classic, and it's my baby. The "Feel Good Department" was my idea too.
Chocoholic 07-31-2009, 09:15 PM I'm proud of any thread I started that made it beyond 300 posts :)
Mr. Television 07-31-2009, 09:19 PM I'm proud of any thread I started that made it beyond 300 posts :)
I'm proud of any that makes it past 10.

Thanks Tom. You've made some hilarious threads. Too numerous to count. I recall some funny take-offs of newspaper articles, lol. I laugh just thinking of them.

Who the hell eats a Pie out the Supermarket?
all pies/cakes should come from a bakery.
Family Ties Forever! 08-02-2009, 08:16 PM I'm not sure.
I guess the Family Ties transcripts I posted. It took me hours to do each transcript. I typed them out.
The thread I started with the most posts is the How Much Does Gas Cost Where You Live thread.
