View Full Version : Have you ever dated outside your race??

I've never dated outside of my race. Not because I don't want to, but simply because I've only been on the dating scene for a few years, and just haven't had the chance. I'm an equal opportunity lover though, and would consider going out with any race. I believe there are great women of all races, so why would I limit myself?? ;) Anyway, have you ever dated outside your race??

And just for the record, if this thread gets taken down, I completely understand. I've pondered for about 24 hours whether or not I should post this, and have decided it's an okay question to ask. If it's not though, I completely understand, and apologize in advance for posting it.

I haven't so far, but no one really knows who they'll date, so it's not impossible that it would ever happen in the future. I'm currently in a relationship, however, so am off the dating scene at the moment.

I did something more with a Native American, if you get my drift.

He was horrible, by the way.

I've barely dated! Only guy I ever have is white, so no. But then compared to me, most white people with a half-decent tan look like a different race! I'm so nasty, icky white. puke:

^Hey, don't make fun of us pale women!
I, like Cathy, haven't dated much anyway, and am not really interested in it at all... I'm not looking for someone to date just to 'be in a relationship'.. I'm looking for the love of my life. :D But yeah, I've never dated outside my race... but I have absolutely no problem with it... like you said, Brad.. why limit myself? :)

I have always been extremely attracted to Latina women!!! There's just an exotic beauty about them that is unexplainable. Latin women are some of the sexiest women on the planet IMO, and I hope to get the chance to date one sometime.

I totally agree here, Brad! I have to say, I've always found Latino/Hispanic/Mexican men very attractive. It's really a turn on for some reason when a guy can speak another language that I don't know. :D

If you're into Hispanic men, you would absolutely love my neighborhood. It is one of the highest populated hispanic neighborhoods in Oregon, and is probably atleast 70 percent Hispanic. Being as beautiful as you are, I have no doubt that you'd end up having a line of Hispanics lined up around the block just to get the chance to be with you. ;)

Hmm. I would say kind of, back in '85 I worked at an electronics company and was good friends with a black lady she was very cool. We met at our company Christmas party and stayed together the whole time. She was separated and in a volital relationship. It was funny we were both buzzed and I couldn't find my way to the freeway and I followed her since she was more sure of her way than I and we ended up lost in Palo Alto, LOL. We had a great time. Nothing came of the our friendship and a few months later we both got laid off as the company folded.

Yes, I have. One of the first men I was in love with, was a Hispanic. I was also in a very, long term, living with, relationship with a man, who was an Asian American (Japanese). I have also dated men who were of Pacific Islander heritage and African American.

Ii think it's cool when people are as open as you when it comes to dating. The only problem with interracial dating in my neighborhood is that many of the people where I live are very racist when it comes to interracial dating. A few weeks ago I was walking to the store, and there was a white girl holding hands with a Mexican guy, and these Mexican girls were saying some very mean things to them, including telling her to stay with her own kind. I felt so bad for this couple, but sadly they just walked on as if they were use to it. Personally I'm all for interracial dating, and have no problems with it whatsoever.

^I have witnessed a lot of stuff like that. Racism is a universal condition and various people oppose interracial relationships. One of my friends is half-black and half-white. Her father is white and his family was more accepting of the parents relationship than her mom's family.
Some of my relatives don't like interracial relationships. I think the biggest problem with our society today is that race group are falsely seen as monolithic. In reality not all people of a certain ethnic or race group live the same lives or have the same beliefs. I grew up in a small conservative town in New Mexico. Many Hispanics who grow up in those types of communities have very different beliefs from those who grow up in larger communties. My boyfriend grew up in a small town in Oklahoma so I can relate to him more than my previous boyfriend who grew up in a very liberal Hispanic neighborhood. Sometimes dating a person of a different race isn't a big stretch.

I got something similar to that a few times. When I was dating this white girl and we were out shopping once, these two black women gave us dirty looks and shook their heads. I didnt pay much attention to it, but the woman I was with smiled and said "they're just jealous cause I am with a fine looking brother and they are not".

Damn right! ;)

I've grown up in a family who are still stuck in their old Southern ways. I was taught growing up that I was never aloud to date a Black man or a Hispanic man. My mother even told me once that she's rather find out that I was a lesbian than that I was dating a black guy. Well guess what, I'm 22 years old and I don't judge people by the color of their skin. If I fall in love with a man of another race, that's fine with me. As for my family, they can either deal with it, or disown me, it's their choice, but they aren't going to tell me who I can or can't be with.

Do Hispanic men seem to favor white women? Odd question, but I get a lot of Hispanic men looking at me (usually from the car...creepy). Just an odd observation I made.

This cannot be classified as dating but when I was in junior high, there was an asian guy who was infatuated with me (sorry if that sounds snobbish, but he just hovered over me all the time). He wrote me a note asking if I would "go with him". In case you aren't familiar with that term, all it meant in junior high was that you and the other person were dating or boyfriend/girlfriend. I was so desperate to have a boyfriend back then (even though I could have cared less about this guy) that I said yes. It lasted all of a day, LOL. We never kissed or held hands or anything. I think we barely even talked and I felt uncomfortable about it, so I "ended it" the next day!

I've only dated a handful of men in my life (less than ten, including my husband-who is white like I am... and very pale skinned as well), so that was my only "experience" in "dating" outside my race. However, if I were single and found the right person, it wouldn't really matter what color they were.

I'm not sure if they favor them exactly, but the ones around here seem to really like them alot. You always see them staring, even gauking at times when a sexy white girl walks by, and they also whistle alot too. I never whistle at a woman because I find it incredibly disrespectful, but alot of dudes in my neighborhood do that. There's also alot of Hispanic guys who are with white women as a couple. The more I think of it, maybe they do favor white women. lol!! I certainly don't blame them, because white women are incredibly beautiful!! ;)

It seems the more things change the more things stay the same.

The flip of what you just wrote Lauren is I know some black people who are outraged when they see a black person dating a white person. They feel that that person is some sort of traitor to their race. My advice to them is to get over it.

You can say that again. My neighbourhood is super multicultural. Basically there are only two homes where the husband and wife are of the same race (one black, one white). All the others are mixed to some degree. And the real killer is that the kids of the mixed couples are the best looking kids in the neighbourhood! If things had stayed the same as my parents wanted them (like Lauren's mine weren't too thrilled at the thought even though they both didn't think they were racist and were open thinkers) then this world would be pretty boring.

One of the most beautiful women I've ever met was Trinidadian (sorry 'bout the horrible spelling). Her background was Spanish, East Indian, African, and Chinese and she got the best features from them all!

Sorry, but in my opinion, people who are against the races mixing have their heads up their asses.

I've dated a lot of southeast asian and filipino guys. Cambodian, Vietnamese, Laos, Thai ect. I also have had like three filipino boyfriends. I have a lot of asian friends, family so it makes sense. I've only dated white and asian guys before though, not that I'm racist or anything- I've just never been out with any other race.

Edit- I just remembered I dated a guy who was half black, half filipino.

30+ years ago I had a black girlfriend who was nicer to me than most white girls I had known. Lasted 6-8 months. As I tried to blend that relationship in with the rest of my friends...it just didn't go well. It's not that they were mean to her. They just treated her like a museum piece, and it made her uncomfortable.
