Can you believe it's been that long since this semi-autobiographical drama debuted on the big screen? Some of us can remember where we were and exactly what we were doing in the summer of 1984, when Prince opened up and displayed his personal side on film.
With a blazing soundtrack and a compelling story of a young musical genius trying to chart his own path and avoid the mistakes of his equally talented and tortured father, the film which starred Prince, scored him an Oscar for best music and original song score.

I remember this. My uncle took me to see this the day after it opened to the midnight showing and the theater was packed. What a great film and an even better soundtrack.

That movie and my brother arrived right around the same time. My brother turns 25 in mid-August. I think When Doves Cry was in the Top 5 the day he was born (the Ghostbusters song by Ray Parker, Jr. was #1).

I love this movie. I saw it with an ex old boyfriend. The boyfriend is gone from my life but Prince and his movie is still here to stay.
