I just watched the season three episode, where we hear about Mrs. McKenzie's revenge. It's where she takes a cabbie home, sleeps with him and then he's never heard from again. Curly Melnick is the example they all mention.

Maybe that's what happened to John. He was invited over for dinner, whether he had sex with her or not, it didn't matter (according to Louie), because she would tell her husband that they did sleep together and the cabbie would vanish.

I don't seriously think that's what happened to John Burns, it's just a funny thought.

 It always bothers me whenever characters disappear without any explanation, even if they're not important characters like John Burns. John's last appearance was in Memories of Cab 804 part 2, if you go by production order, so I've always assumed that he was fired for wrecking Cab 804 . He wasn't a very good cab driver to begin with. Louie threatened to fire him a couple of time, IIRC so it would have made sense. Still, I wish the writers would have explained his disappearance.

Adam, I like your idea of John Burns vanishing after a night with Mrs. McKenzie. I think that line about Curly Melnick disappearing would have been much funnier if they had said John Burns' name instead.
