The commercials make me feel sad. It's not the same as a deceased actor on a tv show or in a movie. He's still selling stuff, yet he's gone. It just all feels strange to me, kind of hard to explain.

I know what you mean. The ads bother me...mostly because since it is a commercial it is as if he is talking directly to me, yet I know he is gone. Sad. They should take the ads off in my opinion. :(

I think they should too. I wonder what's behind their decision to keep airing them. Perhaps he owned it all, and it's a family decision. I don't know, but good to know I'm not alone. The ads bother my husband as well. You put into words what I couldn't do, thanks for that. He seems so alive in the ads.

Yes, it is morbid. I don't even know what he's selling in the commercials, because I'm so fixated on him and the sadness of it all. His death was so sudden, and he was so young.

Watching DVDs means never having to watch commercials--Billy Mays was hardly a legend--more like a Huckster!

I think it's sad watching them again. Makes his death even more permanent. I think whenever I hear about celebrities dying, I register it but I don't really realize what it means until a little while later. So seeing these commercials is like reality setting in.

Today though, I saw a commercial for OxyClean but Billy Mays wasn't in it. It was just a commercial that showed the product, talked about it really quickly. Some lady's voice was in the background. Didn't seem right to see the product without his face or voice.

I saw a commercial for him a couple of nights ago. I was sleepy and not really paying attention so it didn't disturb me much.

I haven't seen any commercials, believe it or not. Weird, since I used to see them all the time!

Yeah, my first reaction to it was Awww :( . BTW did anyone else see the Pitchman tribute to Billy Mays? It was good. I was surprised when my brother told me that they were going to continue to shoot Pitchman, I mean I like Sully, but come on Billy was the reason people watched.

yes, I saw that "PITCHMEN" tribute to him. You're right, it WAS good. I was surprised though, that they didn't mention his and Sullys appearance on "THE TONIGHT SHOW" about a week before he died.

But about the original question: no, it doesn't bother me.

It's a little unsettling. What's worse is the Oxiclean commercial with the female voice over. It's just not the same, you know? When I heard Oxiclean, I expected Billy to shout about it enthusiastically.

Since Mays' death, they have reallly cut back on the commercials. But I never payed attention to how many commercials he did until the day he died. Some networks had one of his spots during every commercial break!

I've only seen one since his death and it doesn't bother me. Actually, I think it would bother me more if they pulled all of them at once.
Hopefully the royalties are still going to his family too so that's nice to know.

The one that DID bother me aired last night. It wasn't Billy, but Vince's lastest on his slap chop or whatever it is. I was busy packing stuff in the kitchen and wasn't looking at the t.v. when I hear his voice screaming out "YOU'LL LOVE MY NUTS!" I had to do a double take on that one!

Billy Mays ads have always disturbed(annoyed) me. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but the sooner that they discontinue them the better! He was probably a nice guy and it's a shame that he died so young but that voice! I won't miss the ads at all! Right now they are probably looking for a suitable replacement for their pitchman and I'm afraid it will be another loudmouth.

I was never a big fan of his commercials to begin with, but it still saddens me that he died so young and suddenly, especially since he left behind a young daughter.

I know what you mean. It's like the mattress commericals they still air with Matress Mac (save you money) guy. The NBC local news announced his death months ago yet channels still air his commericals. It seems strange and perhaps a little disrespectful to keep using commericals with him in it and he's deceased.

psh, believe me, we haven't seen the last of him. he's loud enough to be heard from "the other side". i think people will start hearing unexplained voices yelling about cleaning product offers.

It happens. When Jesse White the original lonely Maytag repairman died he was replaced by Gordon Jump. And when Gordon Jump passed away he was replaced by another actor (whose name I don't know). So it is likely that Billy Mays will also be replaced with another pitchman.

I've noticed a new Kaboom ad with the same female voice as the Oxi Clean one. Looked like Billy Mays' hand scrubbing the bathtub, but didn't hear his voice or really see him.

I saw one that had basically a voice over and it made me sad cause I know Billy will never do another commerical for that product again :(

It made me realize even more that HE was the man behind the product, HE is the reason they sold

It does seem strange to still see his commercials come on. It's gotta be really, really strange for his family to see those things.

I used to watch JAG, and the guy who played Mic Brumby, the Aussie guy, made a commercial one time for some kind of a vacuum cleaner. I think also that the commercial had a real kangaroo in it or something.

Anyway, I saw that commercial within the last few months, and I said "wow, this guy died a while back and they're still running this commercial".

I couldn't even remember his name, but it was Trevor Goddard... When I looked him up on Wiki, I saw that he died back in 2003. And six years after his death, they're still running that commercial.

Weird.

I feel a little sad when I see a Billy Mays commercial now in all honesty. Hearing his cheery voice backing up so many products just breaks my heart for some reason. Guy was so full of life, and now he's just gone, I just find it plain sad. :( I would prefer that they stop playing the commercials, but that's just me.

I feel the exact same way. I wrote my reply before reading any other replies, but I think sad is the best way to describe it. I also feel a little uneasy seeing his commercials now. Can't really explain why it affects me so much, it just does. I just miss the guy, I really do. It's amazing how one can have such feelings towards a tv pitchman, but sometimes we just can't really explain why certain things affect us the way they do.

His commercials always annoyed me before, because he was always so loud and yelled when he spoke and I had to turn down the volume. Now, I just feel bad that he passed away at such a young age when I see his commercials today...

New Orange Glo ad is now airing similar to the OxiClean and Kaboom ones, without Billy Mays.
