A sequel to "The Strangers" is set to begin shooting this fall.
"Strangers 2" will be produced by Relativity topper Ryan Kavanaugh, Roy Lee and Doug Davison from Vertigo, and Nathan Kahane from Mandate. Exec producers include Tucker Tooley from Relativity, Joe Drake from Mandate, Sonny Mahli from Vertigo and Marc Evans and Trevor Macy from Intrepid.

Producers have tapped French helmer Laurent Briet to direct. Briet's a commercial and musicvideo director who also worked on visual effects for "The Ring."

Bryan Bertino, who wrote and directed the first film, wrote the sequel. Story is being kept under wraps.

"The Strangers," starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman and shot for $9 million, grossed $80 million worldwide last year. That film centered on a couple terrorized by masked assailants at their remote summer house.

The sequel will be distributed by Rogue, which is wholly owned by Relativity.

This one I am not interested in. I didn't like The Strangers at all.

I read about the the sequel a few months back. It's supposed to be about a couple with two children who are squatting in a trailer park getting terroized by The Strangers.

Yeah, I heard about this sequel a few months ago as well. I like some plot in what I watch. I just don't want to see a bunch of people fighting against random attackers for no apparent reason.

That's what I didn't like about the original. All it is was a random attack with nothing at all behind it and full of cheap thrills.

I hope the sequel might explain more on what these "strangers" are about and not just show another pointless attack movie.

I loved The Strangers. It was the creepiest horror movie I had seen in quite a while. While I am a huge fan of horror, very rarely does it scare me. I'll definitely check out the sequel.
