RENO, Nev. – A woman is accusing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of raping her last summer in his penthouse hotel room at Lake Tahoe.
The woman worked at Harrah's hotel-casino at the time and says the attack happened when the Super Bowl-winning quarterback was in Tahoe playing in a celebrity golf tournament. She also alleges in the civil suit that Harrah's officials refused to investigate her complaint and went to great lengths to cover up the incident.
Roethlisberger's lawyer David Cornwell denies the claim and says the quarterback will be "fully exonerated."
The lawsuit filed in Reno on Friday seeks at least $390,000 in damages. It says she has been in and out of hospitals for treatment of depression since the episode.
It was not immediately clear if the woman went to law enforcement with her complaints.

This is unbelievable. Hopefully, not true. A lot of these situations happen with women accusing NFL players or an athlete in general of this type of wrongdoing.

False accusations of athletes and other famous men happens often. I do feel sorry for Ben if this isn't true.

I don't believe this at all. Ben could have any women he wants. This womans story has more holes than swiss cheese... Nothing but a way to exstort (SP?) money.

They just had someone from the Pittsburgh press on tv and he said the same thing. I tend to agree with him. This is a year old incident and there was no criminal charges filed. It seems very fishy.

Yea, I don't know about this.
I go to another message board that has talked about this and someone posted that they knew people who knew Ben back in when he was playing at Miami of Ohio and that he was a creep.

^^ Yeah but, like Bandito said, Ben could have any girl he wants- being who he is and a 2 time superbowl champ as well...not that he's a man whore, but athletes tend to get a lot of women coming towards them, to talk or rondevu etc. (spelling?). Not that no athlete never does this type of thing, but I don't believe it. Plus, Ben seems like a good guy. Don't know him, but just going by his personality in interviews, away from the game etc. Who knows though.

Super Bowl Quarterback Confident He Will Be Cleared In Sex Claims
23 July 2009 3:06 PM, PDT
American football star Ben Roethlisberger has broken his silence to categorically deny accusations he sexually assaulted a New Jersey hotel employee last summer.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is accused of forcing Andrea McNulty to have sex with him in his room at Harrahs in Lake Tahoe, Nevada back in July 2008.
The civil charges she is levelling at him include one count of assault, sexual assault and battery, false imprisonment, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Roethlisberger's attorney David Cromwell immediately dismissed the allegations, suggesting McNulty only came forward with her complaint now because his client won the Super Bowl back in February.
Now the footballer has issued a new statement to the media to reassert his innocence, insisting justice "will prevail".
Speaking on Thursday, Roethlisberger says, "I did not sexually assault Andrea McNulty.
"Saturday was the first that I learned of her accusations. Her false and vicious allegations are an attack on my family and on me. I would never, ever force myself on a woman. I want to fight to protect my family and my reputation. I'm not going to discuss my private life or this civil case in the media. I'll respond to her outrageous allegations in the appropriate forum...
"The allegations against me are reckless and false. As much as I would like to answer everyone's questions, I am going to respect the legal process and I am confident that the truth will prevail."

I just hope that those who are hard headed won't think Ben did this when he really didn't.

I saw Ben on TV and he has said all the right things. He acts like what an innocent person would do and say. I guess we'll find out as the court case gets near.
