View Full Version : The recent wave of Lucille Ball dvds!
Robert 13 07-21-2009, 02:15 PM I know there are other fans out there who are just as excited as I am that we have had so many wonderful announcements lately involving Lucille Ball's tv series and specials.
I just picked up my copy of "The Lucy Show" Season 1 and found the stunning insert with info on MPI's releases. Does anyone know how soon we will see more of these releases (specials, "Mothers-In-Law")? I'm wondering if these will all be available by next year or whether they are going to stretch these out over the course of several years. I hope not. I think it would be better to gain momentum on the previous release by annoucing the next set or dvd close to the release date of the previous release. I'm already eager for the next double feature of TV specials.
Hope you are all enjoying "The Lucy Show"! :)

I got both The Lucy Show AND Lucille Ball Specials today!!!
I keep thinking about this too, and thinking just a year ago we knew nothing about any Lucy-related releases coming. Now its all on the horizon. I'm excited about The Mothers-in-Law too. I check for news on that every day.
It looks to me like Heres Lucy and the specials will be released timely, and I just start to get anxious for further info on Lucy Show releases.
Pitooey 07-22-2009, 10:11 PM I'm a fan........ I can't wait for the M-I-L DVD's to come out too.
Robert 13 07-23-2009, 09:50 AM I watched many of the bonus features on both recent releases last night and I am very impressed. Even the radio shows are fun to watch. The visuals they add really enhance the whole experience. I am really looking forward to the next Double Feature TV Specials dvd as well as the release of "Here's Lucy" in about a month. Can't wait for that.
I wonder if Lucie Arnaz was interviewed for future "Lucy Show" sets as well. She didn't mention too much about Gale Gordon since he doesn't come into the show until Season 2. I imagine Season 2's release could be really spectacular. :happyface
comedyfreak 07-30-2009, 08:48 AM I hope they continue to release the specials.
Jude The Obscure 07-30-2009, 11:52 AM I'm loving it all!!!!!!!!
And from what I hear, the Lucy Show season 1 has done very well for a classic show release!
Robert 13 07-30-2009, 12:06 PM Not sure how true this is but someone posted that they spoke to Ken Ross at Paramount and commended him on the release of Season 1. He said they are already planning Season 3 of "Petticoat Junction" and Season 2 of "The Lucy Show". What a great Christmas gift that would be! :) But I'm guessing maybe early 2010?
dakert 07-31-2009, 10:59 AM I looked through all 4 discs for the Jimmy Garrett interview and couldnt find it. Did I miss it or wasnt it included?

Its on disc 3. Go to Special Footage, and there is a yellow arrow for a second page. I couldn't find it at first either.
McGillicuddy 07-31-2009, 04:44 PM I hope they continue to release the specials.
I think they announced they're doing 6 or 8 specials. Somebody posted which ones are to be released. Lucy in London I don't think is one of them, but I hope its included with The Lucy Show as an extra.
Happy Anniversary & Goodbye, What Now, Catherine Curtis, Lucy Calls The President and Lucy Moves to NBC are to follow.

dakert 08-02-2009, 12:01 AM I looked on disc 3 and I still didnt see any Jimmy Garrett interview--even though the box said it was on disc 4
Lucy "the soda jerk" flinging the sodas to Viv was one of the most funniest things I have seen LOL
I finally got to see the Jimmy Garrett interview--it was good but it would have been nice to know what he did after The Lucy Show
