Recently rechristened cabler Syfy has set its fall slate, with the two-hour series premiere of "Stargate Universe" airing Friday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m.
NBC Universal-owned net has also skedded telepics including "Open Graves," featuring "Dollhouse" star Eliza Dushku, and a remake of Stephen King horrorfest "Children of the Corn."

Debuting helmer Alvaro de Arminan's indie horror pic "Graves" is now set for a Sept. 9 premiere on Syfy; movie had been seeking distribution since 2006 and finally found it with Voltage Pictures.

"Children," set for a Sept. 26 airdate, features "Battlestar Galactica" vet Kandyse McClure and sports a teleplay co-written by King himself with helmer Donald P. Borchers.

Reality series "Destination Truth" has been renewed for a third season, airing at 9 on Wednesdays starting Sept. 9, and "Sanctuary" will return for a second season on Friday, Oct. 9, at 10, making it the first online-to-small screen transition to survive its first season.

"Scare Tactics" will be back on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 9 p.m., and "Ghost Hunters" will continue Wednesdays at 9 p.m. with an October guest spot by rocker Meat Loaf.

I will probably watch it. But the kids in the remake use technology or something more modern in their tortures.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. King is co writing the script, and he's said multiple times in interviews that he didn't like the 80's theatrical version.

I would hope we'd get the original ending from the short story, but even with King involved we probably won't get that.

*SPOILERS*

I don't dislike Children of the Corn, used to love it back in the 80's. But for me the film falls apart when 'He Who Walks Behind The Rows" is revealed. Some things should be left hidden.

And whatever creepiness factor Isaac had was totally extinguished when he walks out with this hair sticking up, all the sudden it feels like your watching a character from SCTV.

Before arriving on DVD October 6th from Anchor Bay Entertainment, killer kids stalk a bickering couple who are stranded in an Iowa town in SyFy's made-for-TV remake of Children of the Corn, which stars Kandyse McClure and David Anders.

Beyond the break you can watch the trailer promo for the film that premieres this Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9/8C only on Syfy.

I missed it on Saturday. I figured it would be bad. I'll probably watch it at least once either on SyFy or on Netflix.
