I never really wanted to try them. I heard so many bad things, yet people still buy them. I would probably never buy Redbull. It looks nasty and it heard it sucks lol. I bought 2 bottles of the orange 5 Hour Energy energy shots/drinks. What are your thoughts on 5 hr. energy and on energy drinks in general? I don't know if this topic has been brought up before, but just wanted to make a thread out of it- experiences for you, thoughts, favorite ones etc. I heard it gives you really high blood pressure, and I believe a kid that I used to go to school with for 2 years died of an irregular heartbeat. I heard he had a energy drink the morning he died, and went on the treadmill and had this irregular heartbeat, but I don't know if that's what killed him to it- I'm just seeing if that can be an affect of drinking them, or drinking TOO many of them like some people do, and if it links it to these bad things or not. What do you think?

I like energy drinks, but I don't abuse them. I only drink them once in a while when I'm feeling really sleepy and need to get through the rest of a workday. My energy drink of choice is Monster - it's really good.

Do they work for you? And for usually how many hours before crashing?

Monster and Red Bull are good. I like the Low Carb Monster one and the sugar free Red Bull-taste much better than the regulars in my opinion. I've also had Full Throttle, but that was gross. Monster is huge, but it really does the trick. I only drink it when I know I'll be up late-I used to have a bunch my first year in college, to help me get through those late nights. Red Bull I'll drink about twice a month or so, when I'm going out and I know I'll need it. I've never had the 5 hour energy shots though. I always wondered how they tasted/if they actually lasted for 5 hours.

I don't care for the taste, but I don't mind the cherry flavored Rock Star. I only drink it when my friends are drinking alcohol, though, so I don't sit there staring at them like they're idiots because I'm the only sober one. Being hyper helps. Good alternative to drunkeness, I say.

When I have to part take in a long trip, I usually have a Rock Star; but, normally, I stay away from these energy drinks, because they are not good for you.

yeah but with all being done and with that said, I still have a lack of energy 24/7. I absolutely don't want to die from these. I think if you just take them here and their as absolute necessary, then you'll be ok. I want to see if this 5 hr energy works. I got 2.

I hate them too. They're almost like a 'cool' or 'fad' thing, you see some Hollywood stars drinking them out on the streets.

i avoid them because i know that most of them have very little effect on you. i mean, drinking red bull or whatever is not going to make you run fast or whatever. energy drinks for me are just as bad as the fizzy sugary pop and regular pepsi, coke etc.

I'll drink one whenever I really need to. I get the sugar free Rock Star which tastes pretty good. I've even tried that 5 hour shot it was kind of bitter but, it really worked. I tried it last year when I went on vacation and only got 4hrs of sleep. I was good all day and into the night.

I've only tried Rock Star and I absolutely hated it. Never had another energy drink. I used to drink Diet Coke like it was going out of style, but I was constantly getting stomach cramps and migraines. Couldn't figure out what was causing it. Then I had a bad experience on a trip to Nashville with Diet Coke and I ended up not ever drinking it again. I switched to Sprite. Eventually I noticed that I wasn't getting the stomach cramps or the constant headaches and figured it must be from the caffine. To this day I have stayed away from soda with caffine in it.

i like Monster but it makes me extremely hyper, then makes me crash and then it makes me feel odd in general, so i dont drink it too often.

They have Monster Coffee drinks as well. I forget their names, but I had a mocha one once. It was tasty, but didn't do anything energy wise for me.
