View Full Version : Paula Abdul Probably Not Returning to 'American Idol' According to Her Manager
Brian Damage 07-19-2009, 02:20 PM Paul Abdul has not been offered a new contract to return to 'American Idol.'
"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,'" the singer's manger, David Sonenberg, tells the Los Angeles Times.

Idol's best days are definitely over. This is a huge loss.
catlover79 08-05-2009, 01:03 AM Wow. Are they just going to stick with Simon, Randy and Kara or add another 4th judge? I really think the only judge you can't replace is Simon. Love or hate him, the show would definitely suffer without him.
HuntingtonM15 08-05-2009, 01:41 AM The back and forth antics of Paula and Simon is one of the best parts of the show. Kara is boring and annoying. I can see ratings continuing to slip even more drastically now.
Chocoholic 08-05-2009, 10:57 AM I'm glad she's leaving. Her antics and babbling are so annoying. I tune in for the contestants, not her.
icecream 08-05-2009, 11:21 AM good riddance :clap
Ugh. I hope next season tanks. Kara is so NOT on Paula's level.
catlover79 08-05-2009, 01:26 PM I always thought Paula would be better suited for something like So You Think You Can Dance. After all, Paula DID get her start as a cheerleader/dancer/choreographer.
Scoobiedoo30 08-05-2009, 02:05 PM I got an e-mil last Night telling me that Paula Abdul was leaveing America Idol. Good Luck Paula onto you Paula.

Not even close.
Scoobiedoo30 08-05-2009, 02:35 PM I wonder what will happen Next Season Now that Paula will not be apart of American Idol.
browneyes106 08-05-2009, 04:34 PM I'm kind of sad that Paula won't be back next season. But I watch for the contestants and I think maybe Kara will improve as a judge next season.
icecream 08-05-2009, 11:27 PM The back and forth antics of Paula and Simon is one of the best parts of the show.No it isn't. I got tired of Simon and Paula fondling each other while ignoring the contestants. When he's not distracted by her Simon has insightful comments but unfortunately Paula brought him down to her level a few times.

I agree that a dance show would seem like a better gig for her. She'd be more believable and could really judge the contestants by their talents instead of just her instincts. I say that just in speculation. In all honesty, I have no desire to (nor have I ever) watch(ed) either show!

Exactly!!

Which many people, including myself, find fun. They have a great chemistry.
TVFactFan 08-06-2009, 11:07 PM Good the "medication girl" is LEAVING
Impressions 08-07-2009, 10:45 PM I didn't like the idea of 4 judges anyways. During the live shows, not all of them were able to judge the performances because of time constraints anyways. Plus, I think it's good that Paula is moving on. I'm not sure she could do another reality show, since Hey Paula was a flop but something on TV doing with choreography wouldn't be a bad start.

I completely agree - Paula is a huge part of Idol. Like her or not, it just wouldn't be the same without her. Hopefully ratings will take a drastic tumble next season, showing them just how important she is to the show. Randy, Simon, and Kara?? I don't think so. The chemistry just isn't there without Paula. Things are just not going to be the same on the show without her.
I still don't think she's totally gone, though. It's all about money, but didn't they already hold auditions? If she isn't back by now, she isn't back.
Impressions 08-07-2009, 11:55 PM Maybe it's a just a conspiracy to increase the ratings for next season :p
