Yes indeed. I always liked how Ted revered Mr. Cronkite

Ted Baxter meeting Walter Cronkite was a great episode, and Walter played his part very smoothly...I'll read the obits tomorrow, but he was so good in his TMTMS cameo it wouldn't surprise me if he had summer stock or minor acting experience.

I loved it when he told Lou, "I'll get you for this" at the end of that episode.

It's sad when these giants pass on...and I include Ted Knight in that category in regards to situation comedy for the Ted Baxter role. God bless both of them!

Same here, Kristen.

Ever notice how watching a Mary Tyler Moore Show episode can sometimes be like burrowing down under a warm blanket on a cold winter night?

Just ... pure ... comfort.

Walter Cronkite was on Mary Tyler Moore? How cool is that?!!! MTM doesn't ever air around here, but I wish it did. I'd like to see this episode.

I watched this episode off of my 4th season DVD set last night. It had been awhile since I had seen it. Very funny.

Berry Ford appears on the season 6 episode called "The Seminar."

Trivia: This episode is directed by Stuart Margolin, who played Jim's friend "Angel" on "The Rockford Files."

Andrea,
If you have Netflix, you can rent Season 4, disc 3, and watch it there. Or else check your local library. Unfortunately, only seasons 1-3 are availible to watch online at the moment. Hopefully once more seasons are released on DVD, they'll post the rest online.

I don't know how I feel about that. When viewing the episodes online, are people required to pay for them? Why I ask this is because if people are able to view them for free online, then that might cut into FOX's DVD sales and stall the later seasons even more. Or is it set up where you have to purchase each episode for like $1.99 in order to view it? If that's the case, at least FOX is getting their money.

What is the actual arrangement?

On iTunes and Amazon, episodes are $1.99 apiece. Hulu has episodes online, too, free, legally. So it's not like anybody's pirating them to put them there. And there are limited commercials, too. But as I said, S4 isn't availible online. I guess Fox figures it's a "try before you buy" type of thing. I wish more shows would be put online. It gives you a chance to test an ep. before buying it.

I wonder if it's a licensing thing? Most of the MTM shows* currently on iTunes and Hulu have only their first three seasons available , except for St. Elsewhere, WKRP and Newhart where only the first season is available.

*Mary Tyler Moore Show
*Bob Newhart Show
*Hill Street Blues
*Lou Grant
*White Shadow (not available on iTunes)
*St. Elsewhere
*Remington Steele (only the first two seasons are available on iTunes)
*Newhart (not on iTunes, first season only on Hulu)

I didn't realize Newhart was on Hulu. Saves me getting it again from Netflix. Thanks for the heads up!

Walter was about 6 years older than Ted and just died in 2009, while Ted died way back in 1986.
