I have heard Mary J. Blige and Tyra Banks saying they loved this show. And the '80s singer, Cyndi Lauper, called this her favorite TV show during the '80s. I even remember Jessica Simpson saying she used to watch this show when it was still on TV. And even Ellen Page, the actress from "Juno", said this is one of her favorite shows and that she considers it much better than "Beverly Hills, 90210" and any teen show that's on today. Can you guys think of any other stars, or famous people, who have said they like this show?

I remember on I Love the 80's Aisha Tyler said she was a fan of the show and that Jo was her favorite character.

That is so cool! Aisha Tyler is awesome! I also remember hearing Kelly Ripa, Rachael Ray and Gwen Stefani mentioning they were fans as well.

I just thought of a few more. Katherine Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzy on "Grey's Anatomy", mentioned really liking this show. It was in a new interview I read just recently where she talked about her new movie and stuff. And at one point she talked about how teen girls have been misrepresented on TV through the years and mentioned that only "Facts of Life" and "Blossom" depicted real girls. She went on to praise "FOL" saying it has always been her favorite TV show as a kid and she would always watch the reruns as a teenager. She said she never got into "90210", or any of the teen soaps at the time and instead watched the reruns of "FOL" because, as she said, "the girls on 'Facts of Life' were so real and witty. They weren't just frolicking around in skimpy clothes obsessing about men. They were real people." Some other people I've heard say are fans of the show include Melissa Gilbert, Mayim Bialik (the girl from "Blossom" who actually appeared in the series finale), Eve Plumb (who played Blaire's former step-sister and who said she felt really at home on the set more so than she ever did on "The Brady Bunch" and that she and Lisa are still in touch), Alicia Silverstone, Christina Applegate, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Katie Holmes, Alyssa Milano and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I think I also heard somewhere that Janet Jackson was often seen in the studio audience watching the show, but she was also a longtime friend of Kim Fields (though I swear, she and Kim could easily pass as sisters because they look so much alike and have the same smiles...both beauties). And, of course, all the celebrity guest stars, like Janet's brother, Jermaine, and Stacy Q.

Speaking of Janet I found this bit of Info, I was reading Lisa Whelchel's twitter and one of her friends on there asked her if she knew Michael Jackson and she said yes but not real well she was good friends with Brooke Shields though. I just thought that was interesting.

Brooke Shields? Cool. She's beautiful. And I think I read somewhere an interview with Kellie Martin, the girl who played Becca on "Life Goes On" and the lead in "Christy", and she said it was one of her favorite shows growing up and one time her mom actually took her and her sister to one of their tapings and afterward she got to meet the actresses. She said all of them were really, really nice girls, but Lisa Whelchel was actually the sweetest of all of them, and they all really got along in real life. She later said that it's really rare to see a show where the young female characters were real and where you never heard about any behind-the-scenes in-fiting.

BTW, even though it came out a year before I was born, I used to watch "Life Goes On" when it was in reruns during the late-'90s and thought it was a really great show. Kellie Martin became one of my first crushes, because I thought she was so cute and pretty. They never show this anymore, which is sad. I guess because it was a nice, wholesome family drama that actually dealt with serious subject matter such as AIDS and drunk driving, rather than showing teens hopping into bed with each other all the time.

I just recently started following Lisa on Twitter; her posts (tweets, whatever, I'm still new to the place ) are always fun to read because they're actually interesting and not stupid things like "text me" or "off to work". Once she tweeted that she'd just gotten off the phone with Nancy McKeon and that they realized it was the 30th anniversary of FOL and that they were too young to be that old .

Wow, that is really cool that Lisa and Nancy get along so well in real life. Also, Gloria Steinam, who was mentioned quite frequently during the episodes in season 6, claimed to have been a big fan of the show.

I didn't know that Janet Jackson went to studio taping of FOL. I also didn't know she was a friend of Kim Fields, I love them both.

Wow, I never knew about all that. I've been a Kellie Martin fan for many years and was a faithful viewer of both LGO and Christy. :D

Yup, they were friends going back to Good Times, when Janet was playing Penny and Kim did a couple of guest spots on GT as her friend...Kim. Kim's real-life mom Chip played the role of Penny's abusive birth mother.

I bet Queen Latifah is a fan of Facts of Life. Hell it was referenced on Living Single and of course our own Kim Fields had a very prominent role on the show.

Oprah is a fan of the show too because she did a "Where Are They Now" segment with Lisa and Mindy on the same episode. It'll be cool if she did another one but this time with Nancy and Kim on the same episode.
