View Full Version : Do you ever get embarrassed after posting certain threads??

I do sometimes. There are times when I'm having bad days, and maybe feeling a bit vulnerable, and I can sometimes end up posting threads that are too personal. I usually notice my mistake right away, and become instantely embarrassed. I've come to the conclusion that I should NEVER post when I'm feeling overly emotional!! Unfortunately you can't delete your own threads, because that would have come in handy many times for me. lol! I also feel weird when I post threads that center the attention on me. You guys are always awesome, and always have great advice, but I guess this insecurity just goes back to my middle school days, as I was the kid who sat in the back of the class hoping nobody would recognize me, and the guy who spent lunchtime in the bathroom cause I had nowhere to sit in the cafeteria. So those are a couple circumstances where I sometimes get embarrassed over my threads. Do any of you ever post stuff, or start threads that later embarrasses you?

I do.

I'm a private guy when it comes to my problems or sadness. I have once or twice posted here about things like that and usually around the next day I get back on and think "Oh no, I posted that." I mean most people here are so nice, so it's not really a *bad* thing. It's just that it's not in my nature to talk about certain things and yet they make it so inviting here, lol.

Oddly enough I do like attention. But more for being funny (when I am) or my niceness (which I can have) than for my problems and sadness.

With all this said, I'm sure you'll see another one of my threads where I talk about a problem I have or something I'm sad about (like with the girl I've named Sunkist here).

I guess the thread I'm most embarrassed about is when I decided to ask the question that I was so unsure of for 27 years... Where Do Babies Come From? I felt foolish after that one. Who knew men and women had different parts?

Okay, that last bit was a joke. Hopefully you already knew that. ;)

Not so much embarrassed but regretfull. If I am in a bad mood and I take something the wrong way and make a post about it, I have regretted doing that. Something like that just happened on Facebook between me and someone, but thankfully we have settled it. I just got to learn that if I am in a foul mood to say away from forums.

Hmmm, not really. I mean, sometimes, I'll run back and delete a post if I find it a little too complaining-ish... but I so rarely start threads, that I never really have an opportunity to regret it... But just so you know, Brad... I happen to think that your threads are some of the most interesting ones here at SO, and I always look forward to them!:D

But yeah, I always respond to a post by typing exactly what I would say if I was sitting around a table with ya'll. ;)

Brad, are you referring to the thread you made about your aunt e-mailing you? I'm sorry for posting in it. :(

No, no, not at all Jen. I didn't even have that thread in mind when I posted this. I actually agree with what you said in that thread, and appreciated your insight, and truthfulness. But don't feel bad at all, I promise you, this thread has nothing to do with what you said!!

Only the ones that get little to no replies because they're probably stupid and pointless to many people. lol oh well.

not really but one thing ive noticed about my threads is that some of the ones that i think might get page after page of replies get almost none and ones that i just maybe post at the last minute about something that i think noone is interested in get alot of feedback

I know exactly what you mean, Brad. I have posted some stuff when I have been in a bad mood, only to read the responses the next day and regret it. Fortunately though, I've only had that happen on threads I've replied to, and not started.

It's nice to have someone I can relate to on this. Iv'e posted such embarrassing stuff, especially when I first found this place, and so I don't even look at posts or threads from my first couple years here. Infact, even thinking about some of it now embarrasses me. lol!! I still embarrass myself every now and then, but Iv'e learned alot from my mistakes, and don't do it nearly as much.

No, because I try to keep things as general as possible. I'm a pretty private person.

Hell yes.

There's another blog site that I haven't been to in 2 months because I said a word that made people look down upon me and I couldn't even show my face on that site.

It's a word that made many people cringe and I mentioned it about myself...and it banned me temporarily on another site. That, and I was bitching about my life. (It hasn't been a very good year and I hate living at home).
