M-Males. Only males in the house till later seasons.

N = Never Look Back, an episode from season 4.

O = orphan: Orphan Ernie Thompson is Chip's friend, and later his brother Ernie Douglas.

Q - quit - season 9 episode 9 - Robbie decides to quit school so he can work to support his new, large family, but Steve and the school counselor dissuade him.

R = Roadburner: Chip's friend Wayne owns a car called the "Roadburner."

T - Teacher - in a late season 10 episode Chip's teacher thinks he cheated on a test, and Barbara confronts the teacher and blows her stack.("MY SON DOES NOT LIE!")

Z = zee - In zee early seasons of M3S the family visited zee city of Paris.

A - Allowance - The Douglas boys have a family meeting to discuss a raise in their allowance.

B - back (to Bryant Park) - In season 10, Rob takes Katie on a nostalgic visit back to Bryant Park.

C - Claudia Farrell: Jaye P. Morgan plays former star singer Claudia Farrell, for whom Steve enlists the aid of Robbie (and the Greefs) to modernize her performances.

D - Driver License - in a seventh season episode, Steve gets a parking ticket, and the meter maid finds his license has expired. He tries multiple times, and has trouble passing the written exam to renew his license.

E - Ernestine Coulter: Played by Vera Miles, Miss Coulter worked on the case of young orphan Ernie Thompson when his foster parents moved overseas (Season 6).

F - Fred MacMurray

G - galley: Sometimes Charley refers to the Douglas kitchen as the galley

H - Harper, Barbara Harper, Steve's wife as of the 10th season.

I = Iron - Uncle Charlie has to iron the clothes for the family.

J - James V. Kern and James Sheldon - shared director duties in season 7. Sheldon had to direct scenes from many episodes due to the death of Mr. Kern.

K - Kristen, Marta: young guest actress in the black-and-white era who went on to star in the series Lost in Space

L - Lyn, Dawn Lyn, who played Dorothy Harper/Dodie Douglas, 1969-1972.

M - "Margaret Smith" -- Steve and the family meet a stag party entertainer named Margaret, whose stage name is "Flame LaRose" (played by Leslie Parrish).

N = Nice - Steve was nice

O - Oui--Oui, say the Douglases, we've been to Paree.

P - Polly

Q - Quiz - Chip and his friends embarrassed their dads when they got a better score on a TV quiz show.

R = Ronne Troup as Polly

S - Sudsy - Hubert (Sudsy) Pfeiffer, Chip's best friend for the first three seasons.

T - train set: Chip puts Ernie to work earning money doing small jobs, so that Ernie can buy Chip's old model trains ("pimped" him out!!).

U - Up, Up, and Away - in Wednesday's MeTV episode, the Douglases are off to visit Hawaii, in the final episode of season 7.

V - Vacuuming - Charlie did a lot of vacuuming

W = Walking in the woods to bird watch with a date is what Steve did on an episode.

X - Mister X- late season 10 episode, where a mystery man appears to be spying on the Douglases, and he turns out the be the father of Barbara's late husband. He has a nice reunion with his granddaughter, Dodie, toward the end of the episode.

Y = You Can't Go Home, an episode from the 10th season

Z - Zsa Zsa - In a late eighth season episode, Ernie is poking around in Beverly Hills, and falls into Zsa Zsa Gabor's pool.

A - Anderson's Porch: A music hangout by that name exists in both Bryant Park and California (curiously seems to have moved right along with the Douglas Family, getting a very early Season 8 mention!). Young people's music, like Robbie & the Greefs back east and folk out west.

B - Boss - a 60s term that could be used to describe Robbie's music group.

C = Cookout - The Douglas family invite their new neighbors over for a cookout after they move to California.

D - doughnuts - when the Douglases were housecleaning at the opening of season 9, Katie wanted doughnuts--an odd food craving that was a sign of things to come--triplets.

E = Ernie

F - Flying saucer: Young Ernie sees what appears to be a spacecraft that's landed in the Bryant Park area

G = Grouchy = Uncle Charlie, rather often

H - Hot - On Steve and Barbara's honeymoon, Steve ordered his food "mui caliente", which evidently meant very hot, and he didn't know it. He then consumed a lot of water.

I - Idol - Don Grady became a teen idol

J - Jaye P. Morgan, in the 7th season, plays a singer who Steve sees on the West Coast, and he thinks she should come back to Bryant Park with him, where she can sing with Robbie's group, and renew her career.

K = Kissing, Robbie & Katie did a lot of kissing while they were dating.

L - lip lock - Robbie and Katie, kissing, had a lip lock on each other.

M = Mother of triplets Katie

N - Night - Bub decides to go to Night school.

O - open for business - Robbie starts a birthday cake business, in the sixth season.

Q - questioning: Ernie faces some questions from the police, after Charley notices some used tires are missing from the Douglas garage

R - resisting arrest - When Steve and Barbara were stopped, and dressed up as cats, Steve could have come close to resisting arrest.

T - TV Land - My Three Sons was shown on TV Land, many years ago.

U = Understsnding & wise = Steve

V - Verna Benson: One of Ernie's teachers, played by Jan Clayton (Lassie & broadway), Verna wants to marry Charley and travel to exotic places with him.

X = eXtra laundry Charley has to do when Katie moves in.

Y - Your Three Sons, Steve, change from Mike, Rob, and Chip, to Rob, Chip, and Ernie, in the sixth season.

Z = Zero tolerance for b.s. from Uncle Charlie -that lovable curmudgeon.

A - ABC - the first five seasons were on ABC

B - Beverly Garland played Barbara

C - Color - M3S went to color episodes when the series moved to CBS for the sixth season, in 1965.

D - Dolenz: Micky Dolenz (best known for The Monkees) guests late in the series.

E - ESP - in a season 9 episode, Ernie thinks he has ESP, and is convinced something bad will happen if Robbie and Katie take the triplets to a doctor appointment.

F = Frawley, William Frawley played Bub

G - Guts - it took guts for Ernie to come back in the house and face his AP teacher, Miss Houk (who actually apologized to him for misjudging his writing), in the final episode of the ninth season.

H - Husbands Steve, Robbie and Chip

I - Ignores - When Chip feels Ignored, by his family, he decides to run away.

J - jets - Steve solved engineering problems for jets and other aircrafts.

M - "mush" -- favorite word of young Ernie, to describe kissing in real life or on screen - or what he was eating at breakfast!

N - Natal Day - in a (probably) season 6 episode, Robbie starts a business where he helps people celebrate their birthday, with a cake and a birthday greeting, or, as he cals it, celebrating their Natal Day.

O = Old man that Burt Mustin played in a few episodes

P - Pregnant - in the first episode of the ninth season, the Douglases are house cleaning, and Katie faints. They eventually learn she is expecting triplets.

Q - Quickly - Steve Quickly comes home to stop Mike and Robbie from
coming to blows.

R- Relocated - The Douglas family Relocated from Bryant Park to Calufornia.

S - Snell Family: The Snells move in next door to the Douglas Family. Peggy Snell is played by Jackie DeShannon.

T - tea - In the episode Charley's Tea, Katie wants her friends to come over for a tea, and Charley makes it into more like a kid's party. Chip's female friends save the day for Charley, and remake the event into what Katie had in mind.

U - Umpire - Steve subs as a volunteer Baseball Umpire.

V = Vincent, Mrs. Vincent was played by Eleanor Audley in several episodes

W - Weddings - lots of weddings over 12 seasons - all three original sons, and Steve. We saw Robbie's and Steve's, but not Mike's and Chip's.

X = ProXy Parents, an episode from the last season

Y - youngest - youngest sone was Chip in seasons 1 thru 5, and Ernie in 6-12.

z = zeal: It's obvious that Don Grady has a zeal for music when playing on the series as part of Robbie and the Greefs.

A = Argumentative = Uncle Charlie, at times

B - boys - boy, there were a lot of boys around that house!

C - Cecile: Katie's Aunt Cecile (played by Marsha Hunt) comes to the Douglas home in CA to visit, and disrupts the household in a big way after being invited to stay a while. (Marsha apparently is now 100 years old...!!!)

D - dog - Ernie's dog, Wilson, disappeared a few episodes into the sixth season, never to be referred to again. Maybe Tramp filed a grievance.

E = English fellow visiting the next door neighbors in the Liverpool Saga episode.

F - Fergus - In the four-part season 12 opener, Steve's identical cousin (they're cousins...identical cousins...two of a kind), Fergus, visits from Scotland, aiming to find a wife. Steve dislikes the one he finds, Terri.

G - Grady (Don)

J - jealous streak: Robbie has a jealous streak that's "a mile wide," according to Charley (Season 8).

M - Married - On the day Steve and Barbara are married, Tramp gets out again, and makes it to the chapel in time for their wedding, too.

N - Nice - Steve was nice

O - Offer - Charley needed cream for Steve's coffee, and Sally at the diner offered him some.

P- Project - Chip catches a frog, for a school Project .

Q- Quick tempered. Uncle Charlie was!

R - Rough - When the boys are tossing the football in the house, it gets a little too rough for Dodie, who claims she hurt her elbow.

S- Spouses - Robby, Steve and Chip all took a spouse as the series progressed !

T - TV - In a season 6 or 7 episode Charley banned TV for a week.

U - Upbeat - Steve was upbeat

V - very long-running show.

W - water heater: A sudden, loud sound at the Douglas home in California leads the family to believe their water heater has exploded...!

X - X-ray - When Ernie was riding his skateboard in season 6, he could have fallen and would have needed and x-ray.

Y = You Can't Go Home, an episode from season 10

Z - ZZZ - Charley wants Ernie to go to sleep, in a few episodes, like the one after their day of going to the movie studio and getting bit parts, arranged by Charley's friend.

A - Accidentally - Robbie and Mike Accidentally end up with each other's blind date.

B - bye, bye -- bye, bye Bryant Park--to kick off the eighth season, the Douglases move to California, so Steve can start a new job.

C - cello: Uncle Charley plays the cello

D - Dear Enemy, the episode on MeTV right now. Each Douglas gets captured during war games, while Robbie is serving duty in the reserves.

E - Engineers Steve and Robbie (later eps)

F - First Night Out - (season 9) a cranky babysitter, played by Rose Marie, clashes with the Douglases, primarily Charley, as Rob and Katie get a break from their newly-born triplets.

H - Honorable Guest - The Douglases are set to go on a much-antiipated camping trip, when their old Bryant Park friends, the Wongs, stop by, and spoil their plans.
