View Full Version : A Very Constroversal Episode For It's Time.
callmetootie 08-17-2001, 03:08 PM I saw this episode of F-Troop that was so conrtoversal, it was not even funny. One of the characters went to do their laundry, and found marijunia in the dryer. Then a rapist shows up at the door, to take it back. Scary...huh?

That sounds like an awfully intense episode for F-Troop!

Are you sure you aren't thinking of an episode of "Gomer Pyle, USMC"? lol
17Mar59 01-17-2002, 08:53 PM Don't remember that ep.but on the other hand haven't seen
F-Troops in ages.
Artfiore1 08-04-2002, 09:35 AM Hi all,
Marijuana was certainlty topical at the time of the series (1965-1967). I don't know about the time during which the series was set (the mid-to-late 1800s).
What *should* have been a source of controvery was the fact that, at the time of the show's beginning, Captain Parmenter (Ken Berry) was a 32-year-old man going with a 16-year-old girl -- Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson).
Of course, to me at that time, eyeryone over the age of ten was an adult.

vze3t9q9 02-06-2003, 08:39 PM I Read that Melody Patterson was married to James Macarthur (Hawaii five o) for a time. I also read she was quite young when she was on the show. I just assumed she was in her early 20's

It had to be another show. They didn't have dryers in F-troops time period. Didn't even have electric.
fore284 05-12-2003, 04:01 PM Yes I degree they were no dryer at this time they used these things you scrap your clothes against and then you hang them on a line to dry.
tv star collector 10-19-2005, 07:31 PM Ken Berry was 32 years old -- but Melody Patterson was actually 18 (according
to the Dell magazine WHO'S WHO IN TELEVISION, which lists her birthday as
April 16, 1947).
Artfiore1 10-19-2005, 10:07 PM tv star collector,
It's been a little over three years since I posted my earlier reply in this thread. In that time, I have learned that it is true that Ken Berry was 32 at the time the series began. But, Melody Patterson was 16 when she was hired to play Wrangler Jane. By the time filming actually began on Season One, she had just turned 17. It's my understanding that throughout that first season, Jane merely chased after Parmenter. It wasn't until Season Two -- when she was 18 -- that he ever touched her.

TV Knowledge Fan 04-24-2006, 01:36 PM Melody was BARELY 16 when she filmed the pilot episode in early 1965. She lied about her age in order to get the part (if she officially worked UNDER age 16, there had to be a teacher off set so that she could continue her schoolwork inbetween scenes, and Warner Bros. didn't want to pay for that!).
RebelRose 01-04-2007, 09:27 AM I know that Melody had a trailer on the set and her mother ensconced in it due to being a juvie. I also believe she had a tutor. Adults did not get trailers and the nearest rest room to Stage 19, the Indian village, was about 3 blocks from the sound stage. Everyone jogged there during breaks. Not even a Port-a-Jon on soundstages. But the studio paid for Melody to had her own trailer.
