How do you guys keep your cars clean? Do you go through the car wash, get a hand wash or wash it yourself?

I usually go through the car wash during the school year because I don't have time to wash it myself. However, today I decided I should probably just wash my car myself. It takes longer than going through the car wash for sure, but I love that I did it myself. I have a black car, which I love, but...it's a pain in the butt at the same time. It gets dirty pretty easily but I only wash it about once a month.

Hand wash. I went through a car wash once because I had a free coupon. I went by myself and had a panic attack (I felt so claustrophobic!). To make it worse, I forgot to take down my antenna (the car wash ended up doing it for me). Needless to say, a free coupon for the car wash ended up costing me about $100 for a new antenna.

When I go it's usually at the gas station after I fill up. I'm overdue, LOL.

I always go to a car wash because I hate seeing all that grease and so forth ending up in the streams and lakes around here. The Pacific Northwest is really big on promoting car washes instead of hand washing. A lot of places won't even let you hand wash your car.

I wait until the sides are thoroughly spattered with the cheap road repair material used around here. Then I work on getting the spots off with whatever fluid will work.

Usually after all that, I'm too tired to hand wash it myself, so when the neighbor spritzes our shared driveway with his lawn sprinker, I drive up and down slowly in both directions.

The above is not entirely accurate, but there's some truth to it!

Well, if any of you live in California, your car washing days by hand are OVER.

If I'm visiting my parents who live a few hours away I hand wash my car. In my city hand washing isn't allowed so I usually go to a car wash.

...Oh crap! I forgot about the water shortages when I posted this. It's so annoying!

There is a product called "waterless car wash." You spray it on and wipe off. Works pretty well but the bottles are kind of expensive.

I just googled it, and it looks pretty cool. I've never heard about that, but I wouldn't mind trying it. It'll definitely be less time consuming. It's $20 online, but depending on how many washes I'd be able to get out of it, it might be worth. Have you used it? How long did a bottle last?
