I'm trying to remember the details of a story I saw years ago. All I remember is that it was about a convict who escaped from prison. What made the situation so ironic is that he had accumulated so much "good behavior" time in prison that he was even given the job of counseling troubled teens. I remember that some video footage of this was shown on the UM segment. In the video, he was leading these kids on a tour of the prison and I remember him yelling "there is no McDonalds in here!! This is it!!"
Does anyone remember who this guy was?
I know it's not the Steve Wilson segment.
His name is Richard Lee McNair. That segment aired during the 1992-93 season, shortly after his escape. He was captured in 1993. He escaped again in 2006, only to be re-captured a year later. He still incarcerated.

Is he the guy that was a trustee and in charge of/living at a water pumping station outside of the prison?

No, that was David Gordon Smith in Oklahoma, he was on the run for nearly 10 years but was eventually captured and is still serving his life sentence in an Oklahoma prison.
For some reason I don't remember this story.
It was one of those "special alert" segments, but it was rerun on Lifetime. I remember it being shown on that channel along with the update on McNair's 1993 capture.
