The co-host of “20/20” John Stossel vented publicly on ABC’s Web site after the network pulled his report on Canadian health insurance for an update on Michael Jackson last Friday, the day after the singer’s death, the New York Post says.
“I am sick of the Michael Jackson coverage,” Stossel wrote on his abc.com blog, adding that, “I hate it that ABC didn't run my piece.”
He didn’t stop there, adding that “free markets sometimes encourage pandering to the masses,” and noting, “Of course, maybe my bosses made the wrong choice. Maybe more viewers would have tuned in for my health care report. But the beauty of the market is that if they regularly choose wrong, they will go bankrupt.”

Mr. Television 07-03-2009, 12:15 AM Sorry John but I probably would have fell asleep if I was watching your report. lol

I agree, although I will say that Stossel sounds like a big cry baby.

John IS a whiner, I admit that.

But he is also an excellent reporter. And I think Americans could probably learn something from our health insurance system(like how it doesn't work and you should avoid copying it!) Anyway I'm sure John's report was informative and well done. To bad in never made it to air.

I agree with that, and I can see his point. Michael's death was very sad, but there's always going to be time to report on it. Right now they are running the stories into the ground, and I am getting sick of hearing about Michael myself. I'd rather hear about his music instead of the endless garbage about his personal life which may or may not be true.
If ABC really wanted to they could have aired both stories. I would have liked to have seen the health insurance story. As Marvo says, we could definitely learn something.

Well, health insurance is a very important issue, so I would've watched the report.
bmasters9 07-03-2009, 12:11 PM I'm tending to stand on Stossel's side in this. I mean, we know that Jackson is dead; they should just bury him and get on with it. But no, they say, we can't do that; better to make an "Anna Nicole Smith" of this than to shelve it for something worthwhile like insurance.

I for one would like to know how Canada's health insurance differs from health insurance here in the states. With Michael, they're not reporting anything new. They'll have things to report with the funeral, memorial, the tribute concerts, and of course, custody of the kids, but as of now it's just the same old stuff they were talking about last week. It's overkill!!!

My thoughts exactly! Let the guy rest in peace!!!
