I know the episodes from the 90's were more popular due to Steve Urkel coming to the scene. He was in season one but was not featured as much. Personally, I loved it and enjoyed the fact that the show focused more on the family. It was a nice and refreshing feel for me.

But the show always focused on the family too. Even in the 9th and last season, there were storylines about Eddy becoming a cop, and Carl and Harriette adopting 3J, and they saved that season from being totally awful to me. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't always all about Steve.

I liked the earlier seasons better than the later ones. But I did like some of the storylines last season.

You may have a point. It is just to me, that there was too much Steve in the way. However, his presence was helpful in making the show a success. I am still partial to the first season.

Well, since I like Steve (except in the last season), I don't feel too bothered by it. But I can see where you're coming from too.

I find that the best seasons were 4 and 5 when the show wasn't too Urkel obsessed and the characters grew up into their roles a little bit better.

But I don't think, that the show became "Urkel obsessed". Sure, he was their most popular character, but there were always room for other characters too.
