For daytime tv, Oprah is currently the longest talk show.

NBC's Today began on Jan. 14, 1952, over two years before The Tonight Show (which debuted on Sept. 27, 1954). The daring blend of early-morning news and entertainment (including
interviews) was the brainchild of Pat Weaver and has been on the air continually for a record-breaking
57 years. Dave Garroway was the first host (and I'm old enough to remember him). Weaver
designed the show to be a TV "alternative to the morning papers and chatty wake-up radio shows of
the era" of the 1950s (quoting Marc Robinson's book, Brought to You in Living Color: 75 Years of
Great Moments in Television & Radio From NBC (2002)).

Oprah is the longest current daytime talk show but so far Donahue is the longest Daytime talk show ever. He began hosting it locally in 1967 and it went national in 1970. It lasted until 1996 so it ran 29 years total and 26 years nationally.
