View Full Version : AT LAST!!!!!!!!! The 4th season is coming peter may 06-29-2009, 03:24 PM About bloody time!! (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Taxi-Season-4/12205) :D  http://www.tvshowsondvd.net/graphics/news3/Taxi_S4_early.jpg DavG 06-29-2009, 07:18 PM Oh YEAH! I saw this earlier today. Finally - a relatively clean transfer of these great shows! Paramount comes through. Better late than never, right? I am really excited for this! robyrob 06-29-2009, 07:23 PM wow - you gotta be kidding me.... maybe CBS-Paramount is still in business after all Scoobiedoo30 06-29-2009, 08:30 PM this is great news catlover79 06-29-2009, 08:31 PM YAY!! :D Kristen 06-29-2009, 10:10 PM I've been so excited all day since I heard. :D I just need to get S1 before this comes out, and my collection will be complete! zypherix 06-30-2009, 06:52 AM Notice how it says "The Fourth Season" and not "The Complete Fourth Season" though... like Cheers and Frasier it'll probably have music removed. MrRetro_08 06-30-2009, 09:24 AM Never thought they would bother anymore, thats four down and just one to go. gidgetgrape 06-30-2009, 09:54 AM Wow, I had given up hope on this one! Adamantium 07-01-2009, 07:45 AM Very few things in life make me giddy, but that's how I am thinking about finally being able to own season four of Taxi. My only main fear is the season premiere, "Vienna Waits" because they play that Billy Joel song all through out the episode. So I'm worried about that. But I've decided that even if they do screw that episode up I'm going to focus on the positive. And that's getting all the other episodes of season four and being one season shy of owning the whole series. As for the actual title "The Fourth Season", I don't think that means anything. Paramount has changed all their DVD titles to that rather than "The Complete (whatever) Season." And besides the Bob James music, which to me is as important as any of the characters, I don't remember much music that would be edited out for the release. TV DVD Fan 07-01-2009, 12:09 PM Wow, I always wondered if "Vienna Waits" alluded to the BJ song and since I've never seen it I never found out that answer until now. I'm a tremendous Billy fan so it would be so awesome for me if I could watch that episode with the music intact. It's such a great song too. If a studio like Shout! or MPI was releasing it, I wouldn't be worried at all, but since we're talking about Paramount, I'm leaning more towards it not being included in the episode. Knowing PHE, they'll just replace it with their crappy stock generic crap like they did in Cheers whenever a real song was played or even mentioned. I really hope they prove me wrong though because I would love to see two of my favorite things combined: Taxi and Billy Joel. Well, time will tell I suppose. catlover79 07-01-2009, 12:51 PM I'm just happy they kept that Boogaloo song on the third season DVD when Alex was dancing in the gay bar. That was the PERFECT song for that scene. I mean, of all the Taxi cast members, Judd Hirsch is probably the one you'd least expect to be disco dancing atop a bar. That just made the scene even more hilarious. Tony's line was the capper: "Alex, Elaine's heart is broken and you're having a great time here dancing." MickeyMac 07-01-2009, 07:38 PM It took them long enough Skywalker 07-01-2009, 08:46 PM :woohoo: I've been waiting for this announcement for 3 1/2 years! I just hope enough people buy it. It would be a shame if we had to wait 4 years for Season 5. Don't be surprised if "Vienna Waits" has replacement music. Remember, this is the same company that released the Bosom Buddies and Dave's World season sets without the original theme music and both of those themes were Billy Joel songs, plus they were sung by cover artists. Kristen 07-01-2009, 11:09 PM Ooh, I hadn't even thought about music replacement on "Vienna Waits." That would be a real shame, b/c not only is the song significant to the ep. (it's named after the song, for God's sake!), but the ep. is one of my faves. I'm going to try to remain optimistic, though. After all, this is the same company that released Wings, and we never found music issues there. Though I suppose one could argue there was never a situation like this one. Oh well, guess we'll just wait till Sept. and find out! - Kristen TV DVD Fan 07-02-2009, 02:01 AM Not to get O/T but in the Wings season seven DVD there was a song playing over Joe and Helen's honeymoon footage in the season premiere. Was that replacement music or was it showcased on DVD the way it premiered on TV? I just really hope Vienna Waits has the song intact. Kristen 07-02-2009, 03:06 AM I just thought of something. Maybe part of what took so long for them to release it was that they wanted to get "Vienna Waits," rather than release it w/o the song. I know it's a long shot, but it's a possibility. If it were just background music in one scene, I wouldn't care, but I honestly can't i himagine the ep. without that song! catlover79 07-02-2009, 08:51 AM I just thought of something. That's our Kristen, always the optimist. :D Adamantium 07-02-2009, 09:16 AM Not to get O/T but in the Wings season seven DVD there was a song playing over Joe and Helen's honeymoon footage in the season premiere. Was that replacement music or was it showcased on DVD the way it premiered on TV? I just really hope Vienna Waits has the song intact. It sounds a little phony to me but no, that's the original music for that scene. At least it's the same one that both USA and Nick at Nite air. I admit I didn't see the episode when it originally aired on NBC. The thing with Vienna Waits is that it's the whole episode. There's a scene in the plane where a guy with a guitar starts singing the song and the others on the plane watch and listen. Besides that scene, it serves as the regular music for that episode as opposed to the Bob James music. I will be truly upset if it's altered. On the other hand, like I mentioned, I'll be so happy to get all the other season four episodes uncut that I'm still a happy camper. After a four year wait, I really want these episodes. Plus season four contains two (or maybe three) episodes that were originally produced for season three. So even though season four is without Bobby Wheeler (besides his goodbye episode) we get to see him in those season three leftovers. Getting back to "Vienna Waits", that was the reason I thought Paramount took so long with this release. So all these four years I've been wondering that whenever they release season four, how will "Vienna Waits" be on the DVD? So it will be nice to finally get an answer to that four-year question, lol. I just hope it's an answer I'm giddy about. If they do replace it, hopefully they'd replace the music with the regular "Taxi" Bob James music instead of some generic crap. I'd imagine the scene with the guy singing the song would be cut altogether. I love music in shows. And ever since DVDs came out all I do is worry if the music is going to be included on the sets. A lot of times I'm saddened by the answer (Happy Days: Season Two, The Odd Couple: Seasons Two thru Five). But sometimes I'm happy (Happy Days: Season Three, Wings: All Seasons). Kristen 07-02-2009, 11:16 AM That's our Kristen, always the optimist. :D  Yup! Adam, I totally agreee w/ you about the song. It's played so many times in the ep, that it would be totally different without it. It'll be really interesting to see it finally in Sept. and find out! TV DVD Fan 07-05-2009, 12:32 AM Well, when "Vienna" plays in the episode, is it sung by Billy Joel or a cover artist? If it's a cover artist, there may not be a problem. I'm trying to look on the bright side but since we're talking about PHE here, I have to be cautiously optimistic. Sharop 08-11-2009, 12:25 PM I've just seen this, and I'm very pleased that it's finally being released! I really thought that they wouldn't bother to release any further seasons. I haven't seen any episodes from Season Four so this will all be new to me. catlover79 08-11-2009, 08:29 PM I've just seen this, and I'm very pleased that it's finally being released! I don't remember any of the post-Jeff Conaway episodes.
