Specials & Marathons
-Malcolm in the Middle Launch Marathon
Sunday, July 5, 2009
8:00pm-1:00am ET/PT, encores 1am-6am ET/PT
Malcolm in the Middle joins the Nick at Nite line-up with an all-night marathon on Sunday, July 5! Then the series will air Sun-Thurs in the 8pm hour and 12am hour. On Fridays and Saturdays it will air in the 11pm hour, with an airing on Saturday nights in the 2am hour.
Created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning writer Linwood Boomer (Writer, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Night Court, Silver Spoons; Actor, Little House on the Prairie), this inventive half-hour series is seen through the eyes of Malcolm (Muniz), a regular kid trying to navigate his way through life despite the various obstacles thrown in his way -- a complete misunderstanding of girls, an eclectic group of classmates and the constant burden of masterminding plans to get himself and his brothers either into or out of trouble.
Although Malcolm has a genius IQ, he cannot seem to make any sense of the opposite sex, much less his embarrassing family. Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) is the outspoken, opinionated Mom, and her creative punishments and tough-as-nails approach always prevent the boys from slipping one past her. Hal (Bryan Cranston), a dad who is a certified legend in his own mind, is perfectly content to let Lois "wear the pants," but often finds himself creating more chaos than his four boys combined. Reese (Justin Berfield) has mastered the art of a perfect blank stare, but has made up for his lack of intelligence with deviance. Francis (Christopher Kennedy Masterson), Malcolm's oldest and favorite brother, has grown accustomed to life away from the family, whether it's at a military academy or a dude ranch. And then there's Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan), who just doesn't know any better than to look up to his brothers. Hopefully, he'll catch on before it's too late.

- The N's The Assistants Pilot Encore
Sunday, July 12, 2009
9:00pm-9:30pm ET/PT
The Assistants follows the aspiration, optimism and ambition of four 20-something assistants at Kinky Bunny Pictures striving to make it in the chaotic, sometimes cruel, but always-zany world of Hollywood. With the hijinks of workplace comedies like Scrubs, a Devil Wears Prada boss-from-you-know-where, and the fun and camaraderie of Entourage, The Assistants touches on everything from first jobs, friendships and rivalries, to the glitz and not–so-glamorous side of Hollywood. These assistants will ask themselves the question we all ultimately ask ourselves: “How much nightmare-ish crap am I willing to put up with in order to follow my dreams?”

Brent88 06-22-2009, 01:33 PM WOW... George Lopez moved and Family Matters replaced it. That's the biggest surprise to me. The Nanny stayed in place on weeknights which is good to me.
Home Improvement is now only at 5am! This show will be totally gone by fall IMO.
Pavan 06-22-2009, 01:35 PM George Lopez moved so it can anchor their primetime again, since we have an extra hour added. It is their number one show ever.

Makes perfect sense and it's likely a good move.
I like this schedule pretty well. Didn't really like FM at Midnight.
Wondering what's up with the 2 TBD hours on Sunday.
ryan423 06-22-2009, 02:05 PM Sucks they are moving G.LO. I always tuned in at 10 after primetime. I guess I would've been watching the Jay Leno show this fall anyway.
JulieSomoski 06-22-2009, 02:11 PM Still doesn't seem like the smartest move to me. Family Matters probably would have done well at 9pm, but 9pm will still be lower rated like it always has been. George Lopez might see some rating fall off airing in the earlier hour, but I'm sure it will still remain strong.
I'm glad to see The Nanny stay at 11pm. I've been watching it every night in the slot, and I'd hate to have to change my routine so soon :D Family Matters at 10pm is also better for me, especially in the summer. Come fall, I'll probably be watching Jay Leno, though.
I don't see the midnight Malcolm airings doing well. I bet we'll see that and Home Improvement swap slots eventually. Overall, not a bad schedule at all.
Am I the only one that's sort of  as to why Home Improvement isn't already on TV Land? It's barely doing anything for NAN, so I don't get the hold-up. They certainly weren't shy about MWC and Roseanne, so I don't understand.
Not really a bad schedule. NAN has been long due the 8-9PM hour.

Yeah, with NAN now slowly phasing it out, TV Land should be slowly phasing it in. With only Roseanne and Cosby airing in primetime, you'd think TV Land would want another show like HI.
Heckles101 06-22-2009, 02:51 PM Are the midnight episodes of MitM an encore of the 8pm episodes?
Are the midnight episodes of MitM an encore of the 8pm episodes?More than likely, that's their usual practice.
Well Julie, knowing TV Land they could be airing HI next week, lol. You never know with them, it was supposed to be coming back in January.
JulieSomoski 06-22-2009, 03:58 PM Well Julie, knowing TV Land they could be airing HI next week, lol. You never know with them, it was supposed to be coming back in January.
Very true. We may just see it appear on TV Land's next 2-week schedule

I don't get why HI isn't on TV Land either. It's such a waste to just be on at 5am(just like Roseanne was in it's final months). I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen at the last-minute knowing TV Land(Roseanne was supposed to be weekends only when The Nanny started but it ended up premiering on TV Land that same week and never happened).

No, its ratings have not fallen. Again you're assuming just because it is moving. It's not like it moved to 12am. Think about it Julie, Nick at Nite has GAINED an hour in primetime, so now 9pm is their prime spot on the schedule. Before it was 10pm when the network started at 9pm. So is it really an hour earlier when it is STILL airing in the 2nd hour on Nick at Nite?

No, I said G.Lo's ratings will see some fall off with the move to 9pm. Even though its now the anchoring hour for NAN, it still is the earlier 9pm hour, which has always been lower rated on NAN from past ratings information. Still, as I said, it will remain strong like it always has been.
It is an hour earlier, only because 9pm has never been rated as high as 10pm for the network. You still have to think of this based on ratings, not based on the 8pm hour being added.
Pavan 06-22-2009, 04:38 PM You're basing it when N@N started at 9pm. Now they are starting at 8pm. That is a big difference. Plus Malcolm in the Middle is the perfect 8pm hour show as it will skew well with the Nickelodeon audience. and when there are George Lopez marathons, it does very well at 9pm.

I'm sure it does well at 9pm during marathons, but I'm also sure the 9pm airings aren't rated as high as the 10pm airings and so on. I'm just saying that 9pm was lower rated before. Now 8pm and 9pm will be lower rated than 10pm and 11pm.
Just because they add an hour doesn't mean viewer patterns will change. I remember the ratings for when Family Matters was airing at 8:30 - both it and Home Improvement were much lower rated than George Lopez and the 11pm Family Matters.
George Lopez will still be a stronger contender at 9pm. I just don't think it'll be as strong as it was at 10pm. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
Pavan 06-22-2009, 04:57 PM You're basing it when N@N started at 9pm though. You don't know how 9pm will do now with a compatible lead in at 8pm. Come on iCarly to Home Inprovement was not compatible.
And years ago 9pm did well when N@N started at 8pm.

I guess we'll have to see then. It might also make a difference how well Malcolm does at 8pm.
nickandmore 06-22-2009, 05:18 PM I think Malcolm will be a better transition into N@N than HI was. Home Improvement is a great show, but (like Pavan said) when you go from Nick's shows like SpongeBob, iCarly or Drake & Josh into Home Improvement, it just doesn't fit right.
Pavan 06-22-2009, 05:23 PM Exactly, Nick and More. Plus I think shows like iCarly and Drake & Josh are compatible with Malcolm in the Middle more than any other early Nick at Nite show (they have aired older shows at 8:30pm and they didn't work). I don't know where Everybody Hates Chris will fit in with them now. 10pm seems way too late, but that could work out of George.

That's a VERY good point and makes complete sense.
I don't see how Chris will fit into this schedule either, unless they end up replacing one of Malcolm's episodes.
I don't see how EHC will fit either.....I guess they will try it at some time and if it falters they can move it to BET or TV Land, lol.
I bet by fall we will see Home Improvement and that FPoBA airing in the middle of the night gone, I guess they're their lowest rated..

I agree with that - I doubt Fresh Prince will be around by September. Same goes for Home Improvement. For Chris, I could definitely see it taking an airing at 8:30. IMO, the next show to be cut down is Family Matters - 10pm will be its third slot. What NAN could do is Malcolm at 8pm, Chris 8:30-9:30, then Family Matters at 9:30, with GL going back to 10pm come September.
Tubehead 06-22-2009, 09:24 PM I hate thatthey show homeinpromvent at 5:00am. i wish they would get rid of gereo lopez. i hope tv Land adds home inprovment. it would be inprovment for tv land.

bliggenstrauff 06-22-2009, 11:20 PM Just like Nick at Nite. Once they get a great schedule like they have now, they have to botch it up when a bogus new show comes on. Never liked Malcolm. Used to occasionally catch episodes in my apartment and be bored. Now I'm just gonna have to watch or tape Home Improvement on TBS. At least the show gets good treatment there, I guess that's a better time for the show. Anyway, I'll enjoy Home Improvement at 9 for as long as they show it.
DSfan 06-22-2009, 11:36 PM Wow, I think it's safe to say that this scheduling change has been a shock to all of us here.
- I like Family Matters being on at an earlier time (10PM)
- Smart of them to keep The Nanny at 11PM where it has been doing well
- Malcolm at 8 is a great way to lead in to N@N since it is a teenager show
- George Lopez move I don't know if that will work out as well as they have planned. It is their highest rated show, while being on at 10. I have to disagree with the above comments on how since N@N starts earlier GL would be good in the 2nd hour of N@N. I don't think that makes a difference. Viewers don't care when N@N's programming block starts. Nobody watches N@N from 8 until late at night. Most viewers probably just want to see the show and GL has done well for them at 10 so hopefully continues to do well but might be a risky move. Although maybe they hope that the viewers will move to watch the show at 9 since it is so popular.
Buffyboy323 06-23-2009, 12:31 AM Does everyone remember when Nick at Nite used to have marathons of different shows almost every night during the summer? Those were the days....

DSfan 06-23-2009, 11:07 PM Does everyone remember when Nick at Nite used to have marathons of different shows almost every night during the summer? Those were the days....
THAT WAS GREAT!!!
I remember watching shows like Happy Days, Bewitched, Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Happy Days, Newhart, Andy Griffith, etc... oh, how could I forget I Love Lucy also!

DSfan 06-23-2009, 11:34 PM I'm just talking about shows they have ever aired in marathons during the summer. Lucy, Brady Bunch, etc were definitely all in summer marathons before 2002, I guess it was 1999 and 2000 that I am referring to.
They did those as far back as the mid-90s. They were Block Party Summer then Summer Camp.
JulieSomoski 06-24-2009, 12:32 AM He is talking about the summer of 2002 and none of those shows you listed were part of the marathons
Why does it have to be exactly the summer of 2002? lol. I remember just a few years ago when NAN had those marathons, and I loved them. The first half of the night would be the higher rated shows like Roseanne and Fresh Prince, and the 2nd half of the night were the lower rated shows like Murphy Brown and Who's the Boss? - I wish NAN would do something like this again for the summer

JulieSomoski 06-24-2009, 02:37 PM This is a joke, right? Fresh Prince back in primetime? You have to be kidding me. And we were just talking about how NAN was slowly phasing it out. What's even worse, it's replaced Family Matters, which is now only airing in latenight. This really, really sucks.
I thought Family Matters was doing well. What happened? I'm really missing the old schedule now. I loved George Lopez at 10pm. I loved The Nanny at 11pm, and I loved Family Matters at midnight. I'm not liking this new schedule at all. Seems like Malcolm messed everything up.

It scares me that NAN is getting back into its old habits with all this schedule changing.
I doubt we'll see this schedule for long though. GL will end up back at 10pm, Family Matters will be back at midnight. I just can't see this schedule lasting for long at all.
I agree, though - I couldn't be more upset with these new changes.

This schedule is just terrible. I am extremely unhappy. I thought N@N had changed for the better. Only two hours remain the same on weeknights. Did TV Land's programming chief make this?
*jaw drop*
WOW! Hm, FPoBA is back, I kept thinking it was pretty much dead! I would have done Family Matters 12-1am then encore MitM from 3-4am. I always thought Family Matters didn't do that well, but I didn't think it was that bad.
Pavan 06-24-2009, 02:50 PM I updated the original blog story so there is no confusion. I suggest you read it again and see the reason probably for Fresh at 10 Mon-Thurs:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/06/nick-at-nite-july-2009-with-malcolm-in.html
I'll post a mention tomorrow on the blog that the schedule changed. As far as Family Matters goes, it does do well. I think it does even better late nights. But if Malcolm falters at 12, the schedule could easily have Family Matters back at 12 with Malcolm just at 8.

It's almost hard to believe NAN would make these changes. It was surprising enough to see Malcolm in the Middle added to the lineup. it's even more surprising to see all these changes. I can't believe The Nanny is the only show keeping its timeslot (which is the only thing I'm happy about). Family Matters should definitely be airing at midnight.
And Fresh Prince back? I really can't stand this at all. I just have a feeling this schedule will be changing for the better soon. Something tells me NAN's recent success is going to their heads

If Fresh Prince is holding the slot for Chris, why couldn't Family Matters do that? If I had to guess, George Lopez is holding the slot for Chris. NAN is hoping GL will keep it warm, giving Chris a big a launch airing at 9pm, with George Lopez moving back to 10pm.
It still doesn't make sense to me.
Buffyboy323 06-24-2009, 03:04 PM I can't believe they moved Family Matters to 3:00 and 3:30am. It's only been on Nick at Nite since last fall. Are they phasing it out already?

Because Family Matters will end back up at 12am soon anyway.
JulieSomoski 06-24-2009, 03:32 PM Because Family Matters will end back up at 12am soon anyway.
I guess that makes sense in a way. I really don't see the Malcolm midnight encores doing anything. NAN should just put Family Matters back at midnight and MITM at 3am from the start.
DSfan 06-25-2009, 01:28 PM I was really excited about those new schedule changes until they had to alter them!
The thing I find the most annoying is that Fresh Prince airs on The-N from 10PM-12AM. The own both networks so why put Fresh Prince on at the same time on both. Can't they give Family Matters to air at a reasonable time.
It seemed as though FP was on the way out but now has been brought to 10PM. They have already phased out Home Improvement which I wasn't too thrilled with and now, one year into its addition to the schedule, Family Matters' only legit airing is Sundays at 10 (good to watch after Newhart for your classic Sunday nights in case anyone wants a good lineup suggestion lol).
Hope this isn't too permanent.

Brent88 07-06-2009, 01:06 AM Really enjoying Malcolm in the Middle tonight, much more than I did The Nanny when it launched. Very curious to see if N@N's recent successes continue. This show is definitely different from the others though, being a single camera comedy with no laugh track or audience, and a violence rating on some of the episodes. Roseanne got a G rating and this gets a PG-LV?
I still DESPISE the schedule that starts tomorrow. Hate that FM is relegated to 3am and Fresh Prince being back in primetime especially.

Ive always liked the show but Im also enjoying this marathon. I havent seen these early episodes in quite awhile. It seems to fit in with NAN really well. Now Im thinking it'll actually do pretty well. If I had to guess, this is going to so better than Chris. Just a hunch.
I also hate the schedule. The FM/FP switch is terrible. I dont know why NAN would ever stoop so low to bring FP back. I think the problem with NAN is that all their shows are doing well, theres just not enough room for them in primetime. Probably why they added 8pm. Still dont get why FP is needed, though.

I don't either, and they had made a much better schedule with FM in primetime and FP at 2am after the GL encore, I don't get why they had to change it 3 days after announcing it.
and yes I expect even if Malcolm doesn't do really well like The Nanny/George Lopez it will still do considerably better than Chris does, and I do think it will keep the 8pm slot. The late night encores are the ones I see that could get pulled.

If it can pull Home Improvement's old numbers an hour earlier they'll be fine with it. Seeing how well Malcolm fits on NAN, I just cant see Chris fitting at all. There's really no room for it anyway, unless they'll put it at 9pm and bump GL back to 10pm.
The first sked they had was much better. It was actually great, yet they changed it. Too bad.
If EHC doesn't work, what about it maybe moving to BET? Viacom loves to shift their shows, so I guess they could always try it there.
That will be the strangest fitting show on NAN anywhere - it wouldn't work as a transition show, but wouldn't work late at night. I wonder what they were thinking about when they got it?
Pavan 07-06-2009, 10:36 AM Chris will already get a run on BET as well.

At the time, their entire lineup was doing well, especially George Lopez, which was such a recent show. They probably saw Chris as another recent show they could also turn into a hit. Not so sure it will be, though.

It must have done really well last night(the only time it aired at 10pm last week).
It's different episodes than the ones listed at 3am also.

This was the only real complaint I had about the 2nd schedule they made, that FP didn't belong in primetime. Glad it didn't last long. Hope FM stays there awhile.
Does anyone know how MitM is doing? We haven't seen a press release or anything.
Being the type of show it is (single camera), I wonder about it.

Well, they've already made schedule changes and Malcolm's timeslots didn't change at all, so I would guess it's at least doing good enough and didn't bomb.

That was my initial thought as well. For the timeslots it's airing in, Malcolm must be doing well.
And very happy about this schedule changes - like you, it was the one complaint I had about it, but now everything seems to be great - actually, the entire primetime schedule is just about perfect for me. Good to see NAN back to their senses.
Pavan 07-14-2009, 01:41 PM Not sure what this means, maybe Fresh is the reason but Nick at Nite was down week-to-week and primetime was the lowest since week of May 18, but it wasn't a big drop:
July 6-12: 1.54 million viewers in primetime (8-11pm) and 1.52 million overall (8pm-6:30am)
June 29-July 5: 1.7 million viewers in primetime (8-11pm) and 1.65 million overall (9pm-6:30am)
Even if Malcom in the Middle wasn't doing great, with it being a new acquisition and recent show (and they probably paid a lot for it), I'm sure they're going to leave it for a while.
It's not like a Mad About You or something.

I agree, the only thing I could possibly see changing anytime soon is the late night encores. The 8pm slot is perfect for it because it's the perfect transition show from Nick to N@N. FM didn't do well at all at 8:30 when it aired there last July but was a huge hit at 11.
JulieSomoski 07-14-2009, 02:38 PM Primetime seems down, not latenight. But, when NAN's primetime was higher, they also didn't have the 8pm hour. That hour is going to be lower rated no matter what airs there, so even if Malcolm is doing well there, it's probably lower than the other primetime shows.
Still, Fresh Prince must have been the main cause, clearly because it was the only show removed in the recent changes. Perhaps George Lopez is also down a bit? My guess is The Nanny is holding strong, though.
TVFactFan 07-14-2009, 09:01 PM Family Matters at 10pm?

George Lopez airs at 9:00pm and 9:30pm. It's been in that slot since Malcolm in the Middle joined the lineup and they started Nick at Nite at 8:00pm.

Do you not read anything Solomon? lol. Yeah, GLo has been in the 9pm slot for a week now. Fresh Prince was airing at 10pm.

LOL, do you ever read this thread?
DSfan 07-15-2009, 07:21 PM I'm so happy they switched FP to FM again. On Sunday night, I went over to N@N because I am also a fan of Fresh Prince and then I saw Family Matters it was so nice. Last night's episode with Carl realizing how fortunate he is after seeing his rich future without the family is one of my favorite episodes.
I'm thinking N@N wanted to put Fresh Prince from 10-11PM just for the first week of their new schedule because maybe they wanted to keep the slot warm for FM (which obviously was not the case). In general, I think FP is regarded as a more popular show in society so maybe that was their intention. Nontheless, great to watch Urkel again!
Scoobiedoo30 07-15-2009, 09:00 PM yes it good to see Family Matters on at 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm CT Time

Are you kidding me? Can't they let us be happy for a little bit before changing things again? So now we get 2 hours of GL in primetime? It's Roseanne/Fresh Prince all over again. And Fresh Prince for 3 hours, knocking HI off the lineup altogether? They're going back to their old ways . . .

They are becoming worse than TV Land with these weekly schedule changes. It's so ridiculous. This is the 3rd schedule in 3 weeks.
I think we're back to 2005-2007 again! GLO makes sense for 2 hours in primetime since it does well. The most stable show seems to be The Nanny, lol. No Home Improvement? Well, I guess it could have a resurgence, just like FPoBA, lol. Can't believe Home Improvement is totally gone.
Brent: Actually, as horrid as their schedule is, TV Land has become more stable. LOL!
JulieSomoski 07-17-2009, 02:01 PM Really - they are becoming worse than TV Land. This latest schedule is the worst one yet, by far. Even if GL does well, it should not be getting 2 hours of primetime. If I recall, the most FP and Roseanne had in primetime was an hour and a half, so GL already has that beat. With just over 5 seasons worth of episodes, the same thing is going to happen that happened to FP and Roseanne - viewers are going to get tired of it.
But the good thing out of all this is The Nanny stays at 11pm. How odd is that? lol. It really is ridiculous. NAN is ruining a good thing.
Pavan 07-17-2009, 02:35 PM Home Improvement is not gone. This new schedule is only M-F. Still need more info, before I can make it official. And as far as George Lopez goes, it's still really 2 episodes a night. They still can't air more than that. 10-11pm repeats the next night at 9-10pm. The show is their top show of all-time.

I don't understand why they'd rather move their repeats of GL to primetime when they were perfect in latenight. Makes no sense to me.

That's dumb.
I'm so ready for this show to get old. Enough is enough already. If FP and Roseanne got old, then this can to. It airs on locals also.
and I wish they'd stop moving FM. It's now gone from 11pm, to Midnight, to 3am, to 10pm and 3am, to now 1am. Gah!
Next Friday is listed as this:
10-11 George Lopez
11-12 Fresh Prince
12-1 Malcolm
1-2 Family Matters
2-3 Nanny
3-6 Fresh Prince
and Next Saturday:
10-11 George Lopez
11-12 Nanny
12-1 Malcolm
1-2 Family Matters
2-3 Malcolm
3-5 Nanny
5-6 Home Improvement
When TV Land aired Andy Griffith from 8-10pm, 9-10pm was repeated at 8-9pm the next night. So it's not unheard of.
But I still can't believe Home Improvement is gone from 5-6am? It can't even air then, for at least some variety? I was thinking it was maybe moving to another Viacom channel (CMT, Spike, TV Land?), but none of them show it. According to TheLink recently it is still not slated for TV Land, which surprises me because it was supposed to be there.
JulieSomoski 07-17-2009, 03:30 PM Brent, I completely agree with you. I'm ready for George Lopez to hit the bricks. I'm so sick of hearing the show is #1 - hopefully with these 2 hours in primetime viewers will finally decide they've had enough.
HI could have had the quicket fadeout of any show on NAN before. It's airing in primetime 4 times a day one month, the next week its down to 5am, and all of a sudden its weekends. I don't get that.
I agree about HI. And Family Matters hasn't really been a smash hit, either (it must have bombed at 10pm).
HI did last longer than Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Newsradio, Wings, etc.

I think Family Matters has faded but used to be a huge hit, it did air at 11pm for almost a year(out of George Lopez), so it obviously did very well to have stayed there so long. But ever since The Nanny came and it moved to Midnight(and now 10pm, 3am, 1am etc.), it seems it's ratings have fallen.

Yes, and it seems like they don't want to take the risk of moving The Nanny, which must be doing solid numbers at 11pm. Family Matters seemed to only do well at 11pm, which is a shame. I wonder how GL is doing at 9pm, though. If they're giving it the 10pm hour back, my guess would be it's doing lower than it was doing.
Pavan 07-17-2009, 04:56 PM Nick at Nite's fortunes changed when The Nanny came. They had little schedule changes and everything was clicking before that. The Nanny is doing decent, but it has caused other shows to move slots where it can't perform as well. The Nanny would bomb in primetime.
As for 10pm, I think Family Matters must have not done as well as they would like. If George wasn't doing as well at 9pm, wouldn't they have moved it to 10pm only and kept 1am? I think George is doing fine at 9. In fact one of its airings earlier this week was in the top 10 in 18-49.
Interesting insight about The Nanny. I think NAN got too carried away with their success by getting Malcom in the Middle. They got it when the ratings were so huge and they seemed to just be doing excellent. Now we're back to musical chairs like early 2007. I don't think Everybody Hates Chris is going to work in to all of this well.

You're right about Malcolm. They got carried away, and now they have too many shows to work with. Chris will just be another added to the bunch.
But Pavan, if The Nanny works at 11pm, why say it would bomb in primetime? I doubt NAN is going to move The Nanny to primetime anytime soon, so what does that matter? If it's doing well at 11pm, they obviously want it there more than they want Family Matters. FM is just the odd man out now it seems.
And whether George is doing well, it shouldn't have 2 hours in primetime. Roseanne and FP were also doing well, until they went on overload. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen here.
Pavan 07-17-2009, 05:42 PM Family Matters had that 11pm hour for a long time. Once it moved, it seems it hasn't drawn as much anywhere else. I don't think The Nanny would work between 8-11 at all. Not that I think NAN will move it to primetime or anything, but just saying if they move it to another hour, I think it would bounce all over the schedule like FM is doing right now. I think the addition of Malcolm was more of getting the 8pm hour. I am not a fan of that show, but I don't think it is to blame here. It doesn't need the 12am hour, but if it is doing well...then I guess nothing more can be done. As for Chris, I think it could work for them. Especially if they air it at 8 or 9.
Roseanne and FP had like 4+ episodes a night. Difference is George is still only 2 actual episodes. Stacked episodes are working elsewhere such as with NCIS on USA Network in primetime. FP must be doing loads better than anything between 3-6am, for it to get that back on weekdays.
nikrewind9 07-17-2009, 06:47 PM Did Home Improvement really do poorly in prime time? Average #s were higher from 8-11 when Home Improvement was in prime time than they are now. I'll admit, HI being an older show, it fits awkwardly between George and Malcolm. But what in the world do George Lopez and Malcolm in the Middle have in common?

That is another fantastic point. HI being faded out in less than a month is unlike them, especially lately. Was it doing that badly? I just don't see what they're going to get out of 2 hours of GL in primetime, in the long run.
EDIT: Just checked the schedule myself, and they're still saying the current schedule (with FP at 10pm) for the week after. Maybe they just didn't update it yet?

Probably. When they announced that FM was at 10 on Monday, next week's schedule still had FP at 10.
TVFactFan 07-17-2009, 09:39 PM Did anyone really think Home Improvement was going to last at 5am to 6am?-lol
TVFactFan 07-17-2009, 09:46 PM I think Family Matters is a 8pm-9:30pm type of show. Defintely not after 11pm
What baffles me is what will become of HI? Spike? CMT? Back on Nick@Nite at some time during the week? I have a hard time seeing it weekends only, I bet the contract is pretty long. Viacom has been sharing shows a lot lately. It is likely not coming to TV Land, as TheLink was pretty certain in my message to him that there are no plans in bringing it there any time soon. Coming shows he is usually correct on.

Is't home Improvement on TBS?
Scoobiedoo30 07-17-2009, 10:25 PM Yes Home Improvement is on at 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm CT Time
Thomasman 07-18-2009, 07:11 AM Why do they keep doing this hour crap? If they have too many shows, stop having hour timeslots. Shows with only five or six seasons shouldn't even have back to back slots.
How hard would a schedule like this be done?
8:00: Malcolm in the Middle
8:30: Family Matters
9:00: Everybody Hates Chris
10:00: George Lopez
10:30: Home Improvement
11:00: Glenn Martin, DDS
11:30: The Nanny

1:30-6:00: Various TV Land Shows
spunkygirl 07-18-2009, 09:17 AM What's the point of Glenn Martin, DDS? Why not air it earlier in the day? Has N@N ever had an original show that has lasted more than a year or two at the most?
They better keep the Nanny at 11, IJS. I am sick of them showing promos over the tag scenes though, that pisses me off royally.
How well is Malcolm doing, does anyone know?
TVFactFan 07-18-2009, 10:41 AM I had no idea it was going to be a "SPONGEBOB" marathon last night
Who thought of that silly sh*T?

I despise the fact it was on all night. Doesn't Nick have enough hours already(16 on the weekends?) Who the hell watches Spongebob after Midnight anyway?
It's on again tonight too.
MikeLutton 07-18-2009, 03:03 PM what is glean martin dds
JulieSomoski 07-18-2009, 04:46 PM Has anyone seen those promos for Glenn Martin? This is supposed to be a family show, but the language isn't exactly something I'd want my kids hearing, lol. There's no way it's going to work on NAN.
I also couldn't stand seeing Spongebob all night. What kid was up at 4am watching Spongebob? lol. It was so bad I had to sit through Letterman and call it an early night
And ZKS, I agree with you - The Nanny should stay at 11pm. I'm really enjoying it there, as well as Malcolm at midnight. They stopped showing promos over the tag scenes for a little bit, but then they started it up again.
Julie, what about Roseanne on TV Land? LOL
What do you all think about Home Improvement moving to another Viacom network? I just can't see them keeping it at 5am on the weekends only. If it's not coming to TV Land any time soon (which I don't really understand), I don't know what else they could do with it other than maybe Spike or CMT.
FWIW, Family Matters still is airing at 6am.

I have to say, I'm quite surprised Home Improvement is not coming to TV Land. God knows they need another PRIME show(Cosby and Roseanne is the only two shows on weeknights, how sad is that?).
I can't see the show working on Spike(which is more about adult shows that skew towards males, CSI's and Married With Children which seems to be turning in a hit unlike last time with an all-day marathon on Fridays now), and CMT would be just weird.
Pavan 07-18-2009, 05:32 PM Just because TheLink said Home Improvement is not coming to TV Land, doesn't mean anything... no offense to him, but I think it will go there.

I agree - if it doesn't end up on TV Land in September it'll be there by the end of the year. Sounds to me like TheLink is left out of the loop most of the time anyways-lol.
Home Improvement was supposed to go to TV Land in January but it never happened. If TV Land is wanting younger demos, I don't understand why they don't go ahead and add it. Their schedule at night needs more variety, no argument there. As for TheLink (I agree with you though, Pavan), he doesn't say that something is coming until it is definate, never gives his opinion or what he thinks will happen. He is very careful, guess he has to be since he represents TV Land.
I'm just surprised that as popular as it was originally, HI faltered so on NAN.

I wouldn't say faltered - its been airing on NAN for going on 3 years now. I think NAN just had to rotate what they were airing, and HI got the shaft.

I agree, I think N@N now has too many shows with Malcolm now on(which came out of nowhere). I think HI was probably the weakest of the bunch(though it's ratings weren't bad, just not as good as everything else), and that's why it got the shaft.
Those are good points. TV Land should bring Home Improvement this fall (although I hate the idea of another recent show, that's just the way it is) an re-launch PRIME, do it like this:
9:00PM-10:00PM Home Improvement
10:00PM-11:00PM Cosby Show
11:00PM-12:00AM Roseanne
PRIME wasn't bad when it launched, it was just 3 hours. Leave the rest to the other TV Land shows. Keep the PRIME shows in that 3-hour period.
Sorry...back to N@N, lol.

Exactly. Although, HI could easily be airing at 9pm and George Lopez staying at 10pm. Or, Family Matters could be airing at 9 with GL at 10. The whole 2 hour GL thing just bothers me.

That's the perfect schedule for TV Land, and exactly what they should do when/if they bring over HI. And, they could easily repeat those same 3 hours 11-2am, giving more variety than the straight 5 hours of Roseanne.

I think I would switch and have Cosby 9-10pm, then Home Improvement 10-11pm, because Cosby is a better bridge between the older shows that would've been airing throughout the day and the PRIME shows. PRIME needs to be more structured like it was back in October.
Actually, an encore may not be a bad idea, but I was thinking M*A*S*H, Sanford and Son, Good Times, Three's Company, etc. could air after 12am.

DSfan 07-18-2009, 09:49 PM I don't like the sounds of their new schedule. My 10PM tv watching keeps getting screwed. Just getting back into Family Matters and if it's gone Fresh Prince isn't on the N until 11 ughh.
Come Fall, N@N should try this:
8:Malcolm in the Middle
830:Everybody Hates Chris
9-10:George Lopez
10-11:Family Matters
11-12:The Nanny
Not sure about the rest.
It seems they're ditching Home Improvement so hopefully it goes to Spike. It would fit in very well there with all their other macho shows and they can air it (damn, does TBS own all the good timeslots here?) right after MWC.
If not Spike, it would do well on TV Land at 10, as someone mentioned above.
Also, have to agree with the fact that N@N airing commercials over tag scenes is the most annyoing thing ever. Don't they realize it's not over yet?

Ugh, I hate it too. Is it not enough that we already have to sit through 9 minutes of commercials each half-hour?
Oh and their precious George Lopez is left intact. I can't stand the special treatment it gets.

So? It's Spongebob's 10th Anniversary. I don't blame them for doing it. Plus tomorrows primetime is 10 new episodes, so it will do better than Nick at Nite repeats.

What do you mean out of nowhere? Hasnt Malcom's entry on N@N been planned for 2 or 3 years? I mean we already know Friends will join in 2011, and if I remember, I saw stuff about Malcolm joining 2 or 3 years ago.

That's news to me. I knew Everybody Hates Chris was coming later this year, but the first I heard of Malcolm coming was last month right here on this board. I'm pretty sure it was a very last-minute addition.
Malcom was announced last month I think.
I agree DSfan, Home Improvement would fit on Spike I think. It would go along with MWC. They almost tried Scrubs, that's far from 'macho' isn't it? They air EM: HE on CMT, and it doesn't fit, lol....

Well the marathon makes sense after finding that out but I still dont like it

Spike desperately needs some new shows... this is their Monday-Thursday schedule
2 hours of MWC
2 hours of Spike's Most Amazing Videos
4 hours of CSI: NY
4 hours of CSI
2/3rds of their entire daytime schedule is something CSI related. I'm honestly surprised Fridays is now an all-day MWC marathon.
I would do:
2 hours of HI
2 hours of MWC
2 hours of Spike's Videos
3 hours of CSI: NY
3 hours of CSI
I really think HI would be an interesting fit on Spike. They intended on Scrubs, and I think Home Improvement is more macho than that, lol. Spike needs more variety.

I just checked and it was announced last month. For some reason I thought it was announced awhile back. I must have been thinking of some other show.

Yeah, it's pretty rare to have a last-minute addition like that. Family Matters, The Nanny etc(and most shows in syndication) were all known for years they were coming before they actually did.

Chris was planned since last year, but yeah, Malcolm was a last minute pickup by them.
And Brent, I agree with you on George Lopez - maybe if NAN gave some of their other shows special treatment, they'd be getting higher ratings as well. Seems like everything is always "George Lopez comes first, everything else comes second" to them.
If GL is doing well at 9pm, then keep it at 9pm, but something else should be airing at 10pm when they have other shows, like Family Matters, to air.
But does Family Matters do well? I keep seeing Family Matters all over here, but I imagine if it did better, it would be airing at a better time. It obviously bombed in primetime last time, it could be the lowest rated show seeing when it's airing. Fresh Prince obviously does better, seeing it's getting 6 episodes per night.
I'm sick of George Lopez everything too. I don't even like it.

That's because it's a show you are not a fan of. It you were you would not care if it was on 20 times a night--lol
Like I hate that Roseanne is on 11 times a night but not the fans on this board who love the show.

I liked Roseanne being on all night the first few weeks but now I've gotten sick of it again(I got sick of it on N@N for a time years ago as well). Every show gets old if you play it enough. Unlike TV Land which only has 2 shows in primetime, N@N has 6 shows, and I think it's very unfair two shows get most of the attention(George and FP). :barf:

Solomon, I love Roseanne, but I also hate how its on all night, every night. Brent is absolutely right - NAN has quite a bit of shows to air, yet GL gets 2 hours of primetime.
I've come to like GL myself, but I don't like all the emphasis it gets.
Roseanne will air 74 times on TV Land in the next week. That's a joke. NAN never ran a show in to the ground like that. NAN has a little more of an excuse, but not TV Land....they have tons of shows they could be airing at 2am.

Roseanne is played a lot on TV Land. I remember watching the series finale a few weeks back (I never saw it) and it was on again last week or something like that. Its ridiculous!

They are relying on Roseanne to apparently get some ratings for a certain demographic, but those people are going to get sick of it and quit watching. That's what they need to be worried about. We don't get the breakdowns but if they keep this schedule flying through the Roseanne episodes, overall ratings are going to keep falling (and start in this demo it's apparently doing decently in too). People are going to get sick of it if they already aren't.
Aren't they on like the 3rd or 4th rotation?

This is the 2nd time they've started over, though some of the episodes have aired 4 or 5 times already from the launch marathon etc. (while others have aired only once or twice).

I don't agree. For example, it is fun to have a marathon of a show you are a fan of every once in a while as a special stunt event. But to have a show on nonstop everynight gets tiring. I find, at least for me, that when I watch a lot of episodes of one show in a row, it sort of gets all mashed together and I don't even remember, after coming back from commercial, what episode I'm watching lol.
Remember in the old days, when a marathon of 4 episodes was such a great event? Now, everyday a regular schedule technically has a marathon of practially every show.

Well I will say that if any of the shows below had a marathon every night I would be in TV Heaven
Jeffersons
Three's Company
George Lopez
Cosby Show

And to the ones complaining about the marathon....you'd be really surprised about how huge of an adult fanbase the Sponge has, myself included. And by the way, you don't HAVE to watch the marathon if you don't like the show. Rather than spew hate, just don't watch. If I don't like a show, I don't call it ''********'' and such, because every show has its fans. If you're going to criticize something, at least be constructive. It really bothers me when people pass judgments on shows without even really giving them a chance, even if they are, for the most part, aimed at kids.
And FYI, it isn't just ''mindless kiddy trash'' - there are some hilarious double-entrendes in the first three seasons, you know, things that only adults would understand. I think this poster on Yahoo Answers, ''Irncholliman'', sums it up best:
''Because it appeals to both adults and children in the manner that the jokes are mature in nature but not dirty and slap-knee. I admire how the show doesn't insult kids' intelligence and actually still uses the same brand of comedy it has been using since it's beginning. Plus SpongeBob's jovial nature, Patrick' bewilderedness, Squidward's cynicism, and Crab's greed just go perfect for kids and grownups. Main thing: The jokes can be interpreted so that while the kids get the surface joke, we're laughing at the hidden meaning behind it.''

They're phasing out Home Improvement even faster now. Like you said, what's the point of 2 airings on a Friday night?
It's hard to make anything out of these new weekend schedules - Family Matters gets 2 hours in latenight, and The Nanny gets 3 straight hours. Are they doing well in latenight or is it just filler? The clear thing is that Malcolm must not have been doing well past 1am. I wish we could get some breakdowns here.

Weird how a show can do well on weekends in latenight but not so well on weekdays in latenight.
Nonetheless, I am glad to see The Nanny airing all week at 11pm. Those 3 hours on weekends is a bit too much, though.
Like I said earlier, FM airs at 6am during the week still as well.
I have a feeling Viacom has plans for Home Improvement. I don't think they'll let it just sit at 5am on early Saturdays. I'm really surprised it didn't do better than it did.

That's a good theory. Maybe the older folks are up later on weekends, watching more TV than they do during the weeknights.

I think he means the credits being promo'ed over? But if he is, well ABC Family completely destroyed the credits(at least N@N leaves them partially intact). Otherwise the episodes are not anymore edited than they were on TBS. ABC Family had different edits because the end credits didn't take up as much space.

If I'm up doing something or working on my laptop late at night NAN will be on my television, but lately I've been cutting it off at 1am.
And Solomon, I don't think the FM episodes are edited too badly at all. Actually, I like how they have commercials at around the 10 and 20 minute marks only lately - it's much more enjoyable that way.

Completely destroyed the credits? They were the first channel in quite a while to actually air the theme song in its entirety, every version of it corresponded to its proper season. I think they treated the show very well. Wait, did they cut the tag scenes to put their stupid ABC Family commercials with the black strip on the left. If so, I will argue this a little less lol

Yes, I mean the closing credits with tag scenes. I loved seeing the original opening credits, a rarity since TBS/WGN/N@N didn't do that.
My other complaint about ABC Family was the weird edits, they put in commercials where they didn't belong at times and it drove me crazy.
nikrewind9 07-23-2009, 06:49 PM Lol, they're just credits. Maybe 40 seconds of the show.
TVFactFan 07-23-2009, 07:08 PM Lol, they're just credits. Maybe 40 seconds of the show.
THEY ARE NOT JUST CREDITS, it's the TAG SCENE that's connected to the Family Matters episode

WOW!! Shocking changes!! Malcom in the Middle removed from 12am-1am - it must have not been doing well there. That shows something there. Since we haven't seen a PR or anything, I'm going to assume it did OK but not excellent. I don't really think it fits after 9pm, it doesn't really fit between something like Nanny and Family Matters.
So 3 hours of The Nanny and FPoBA. Interesting. Yet they can't get any Home Improvement on during the week? Too much Nanny!
Brent88 07-24-2009, 11:49 AM What a horrible schedule. N@N is becoming unwatchable again after such a great year or so. There's a grand total of FOUR shows between 9pm and 6:30am. They have changed the schedule every week this month now. Don't even get me started on that stupid George Lopez marathon.
Malcolm being gone at Midnight sucks, I can't watch at 8pm most nights.
Pavan 07-24-2009, 12:13 PM These Viacom changes are getting crazy. Spike TV is now airing nothing but CSI all day from 9am-7pm on weekdays.
Here is the Nick at Nite change (Sundays starts Aug. 9). 1-2am weekdays should be Family Matters, so it can also have a 2-hour block like GLo and Nanny.

I don't understand any of this. NAN was looking great for ages, it started when MITM came. I don't really blame it on The Nanny. Things were great when it was 9-10 Home Improvement, 10-11 Lopez, 11-12 Nanny, 12-1 Family Matters, 1-2 Lopez, etc. This mess started when they got 8-9pm.
I agree, Viacom is nuts. They love Roseanne on TV Land and CSI on Spike, apparently.
JulieSomoski 07-24-2009, 01:08 PM I'm tired of this. I really don't understand the reasoning behind all these schedule changes on every single Viacom station. Nick at Nite is becoming worse than TV Land, believe it or not. These schedule changes are insane. As much as I love The Nanny, airing 3 hours in a row is completely nuts. I was really enjoying watching Malcolm at midnight, but I guess ratings were bad there.
Not really sure what to make out of this - we get 2 hours of George Lopez, 3 hours of The Nanny, then 3 hours of Fresh Prince? The Nanny must be doing fantastic to get 3 hours out of the blue like that. Family Matters must have done better than Malcolm, but right now it seems to be holding on by a thread.
Overall, another terrible schedule by NAN. What is going on with this network? We get a schedule I could somewhat enjoy, then they yank it away from us.

Yep, I completely agree. The whole thing started when Malcolm came. I think they just have too many shows and don't know what to do with them. I'm also beyond sick of these constant schedule changes. TV Land gets a steady schedule(shock!) and now N@N is making last-minute changes weekly and overplaying shows far too much. It's incredibly annoying.
One thing I did notice... no George Lopez on Saturdays at all?! There are THREE shows the entire night. That's beyond pathetic.
Pavan 07-24-2009, 04:09 PM No George on Saturdays because they are airing the 2 weekend hours on Sunday from 9-11. The weekend plays are different from weekdays for it.
spunkygirl 07-24-2009, 05:21 PM WOW the Nanny must be doing awesome to get 2 back to back airings like that
This mess started when they got 8-9pm.
Seems like that's how it usually does. I remember when they aired some of their N@N shows at like 8:30 pm years ago, after that the whole schedule became a hotmess
DSfan 07-24-2009, 06:31 PM I am sort of biased in all of this because the shows I watch on N@N are Family Matters, Home Improvement, and Fresh Prince.
It sucks how those shows air so late. The schedule now has less variety and too much of the wrong shows. Too much Nanny.
I agree that they have too many shows to make a regular schedule. Back when they had all those marathons every night they also had a lot of shows but would air only 2 a night in marathon format. I guess they're just trying to figure out how to work in all these shows at the best time - although it seemed like it was figured out before, and better.

Seems to me like Larry Jones left TV Land and came to Nick at Nite 2 weeks ago - the fact that TV Land has an unchanged schedule for 2 weeks, yet NAN has had 3 (or is it 4?) schedule changes in a little over 2 weeks, is very bizarre.
The schedule changes started when Malcolm came, but it can't be blamed on Malcolm. It's probably doing fine at 8pm - the 9pm-2am mess is a mystery to me. Seriously, for 9 hours, only 4 shows are airing. What happened to the variety? I don't get why we need 2 hours of GL in primetime and 3 hours of The Nanny in a row.

Home Improvement should at least be on the weekday schedule. It should air at 12am or 1am. I find it hard to believe it was doing that badly. MITM must not be doing great though with it losing its late-night airings and not getting any more - it's probably doing OK. I'm betting more of the Nickelodeon audience is watching it than the NAN, but I'm not sure.
I think HI is the best show on NAN and it deserves a little better. I'd way rather see it than Fresh Prince or Family Matters.
TVFactFan 07-24-2009, 08:44 PM Well my days of watching N@N after 11pm just ended

Brent, are you saying Nick at Nite has too many shows to deal with at once? Or are you saying Nick at Nite doesn't have enough shows - which is why they're airing two shows in three hour blocks on a daily basis?
Buffyboy323 07-25-2009, 03:43 AM Seems to me like Larry Jones left TV Land and came to Nick at Nite 2 weeks ago - the fact that TV Land has an unchanged schedule for 2 weeks, yet NAN has had 3 (or is it 4?) schedule changes in a little over 2 weeks, is very bizarre.

Three hours in a row of any sitcom is crazy, especially when it's almost every night. What makes it worse is that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Nanny only have 6 seasons and no more than 150 episodes each.
A fair schedule on Nick at Nite would look like this:
Mon-Thurs
8:00pm Malcolm in the Middle
9:00pm George Lopez
10:00pm Family Matters
11:00pm The Nanny
12:00am The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
1:00am Malcolm in the Middle (encores)
2:00am George Lopez (encores)
3:00am Family Matters (encores)
4:00 The Nanny (encores)
5:00am The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (encores)
Nice schedule Buffyboy, only thing I would swap was FPOBA with Family Matters. Fresh Prince probably does better for them.
Pavan 07-25-2009, 11:04 AM Fresh Prince is a late night hit now. Doesn't work for them in primetime.
Something like this needs to be done for Fall:
8:00pm Malcolm in the Middle
9:00pm Everybody Hates Chris
10:00pm George Lopez
11:00pm The Nanny
12:00am Family Matters
1:00am George Lopez
2:00am Home Improvement
3:00am The Nanny
4:00am Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
5:00am Everybody Hates Chris
6:00am Family Matters
If Chris doesn't work in the ratings, then they need to share it with Malcolm in the 8pm hour, and have George 9-11.
Buffyboy323 07-25-2009, 02:29 PM Is there a possibility of Nick at Nite getting another last minute pickup before the end of the year? Some feel they have too many shows right now, so they may have lost their focus. My opinion is the opposite. I think it's too much of the same shows over and over. George Lopez and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air have been on the lineup for a long time. Decent ratings or not, Nick at Nite has to know these shows are going to get stale to the every night
viewer sooner or later. It would be smart of them to have a show or two on hand to eventually spice things up. And if there's no show on hand, they should at least be considering some "new" shows. We're sure going to need some spicing up now that they're airing 4-6 episodes of their biggest hits every night. They can't do that all the way to 2011, when Friends debuts on the network.
JulieSomoski 07-25-2009, 02:36 PM Home Improvement should at least be on the weekday schedule. It should air at 12am or 1am. I find it hard to believe it was doing that badly. MITM must not be doing great though with it losing its late-night airings and not getting any more - it's probably doing OK. Home Improvement should gt its midnight slot back. I thought thats where it was doing best previously, so why not give it another shot there? NAN has many shows to work with - Malcolm, George, The Nanny, Family Matters, Home Improvement, and Fresh Prince. That's 6 shows they can use in even amounts during the night, but they'd rather air 2 and 3 hours of certain shows only. Makes no sense to me what their thinking right now.
There's a simple schedule they can do:
8pm Malcolm
9pm George Lopez
10pm George Lopez
11pm The Nanny
12am Home Improvement
1am Family Matters
2am The Nanny
3am Fresh Prince
4am Fresh Prince
5am Malcolm
Or something along those lines. If they want GL for 2 hours in primetime then fine. The Nanny, Home Improvement, and Family Matters can give some variety past primetime, Fresh Prince can still air big in latenight, and Malcolm can be a good leadout.
That's exactly what I would do Julie. HI should be airing more.

I think the success they had from George Lopez, Family Matters, and The Nanny went to their heads. Malcolm was a last-minute addition and I believe that's the main reason(because they thought since they had launched 3 hits in a row another would be an automatic hit), but I think the downside to that is now they have too many shows and they can't decide on a schedule. They have pulled HI from the weekday schedule and buried it at 5am on Saturdays, moved FM around several times(from 3am to 10pm then to 1am and now 2am), tried FP in primetime(before putting it back on for 3 hours in late night), and have gone from 1 to 2 hours of George Lopez in primetime, all in the span of 3 weeks. It's ridiculous.

It is ridiculous, but I agree with you 100% - success went to their heads, it's that simple. Now, they're finding themselves struggling to find a schedule after 2 years of a schedule that worked. Their newest one is a mess, and NAN's problems are clearly showing through.
And, I do agree with Solomon and clj - Fresh Prince should not even be on the schedule anymore, and Home Improvement needs to come back. All NAN has to do is find a consistent schedule that can pull in old numbers - this schedule they have now, though, will likely last a week, if that.
DSfan 07-25-2009, 09:47 PM I was just thinking about Fresh Prince. It's been on TBS since at least 2002. ABC Family is airing it at midnight-2AM every Saturday, er Sunday. Are they planning on getting it to air full time for the near future cuz it seems weird just to air late once a week when it would be a great fit for them. When does the TBS contract expire?

It may have been renewed
spunkygirl 07-26-2009, 06:00 PM Wow could N@N actually be listening to their viewers? I noticed last night that Nick moved the tag scene for the Nanny after the last scene, then when they came back from commercial it was the credits.
That I don't mind, it's what ABC Family used to do with Boy Meets World.
Hopefully it lasts, I'm so beyond sick of them disrupting tag scenes with their stupid promos, it doesn't make me wanna watch those shows, just makes me want to watch them even less
nikrewind9 07-26-2009, 10:03 PM The first Everybody Hates Chris commercial was seen during National Lampoon's Vacation.
Buffyboy323 07-26-2009, 11:37 PM It may have been renewed
I think it was. And DSfan, I believe The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was on TBS before 2002.
Dontdomornings92 07-27-2009, 01:14 PM Here is my opinion. I have been watching N@N for a while now and the have completely lost it. They put George Lopez on WAY too much and it needs to be moved off already. I have seen every episode of it way too many times. And now they are putting it on 4 episodes a night WHAT. I don't understand why they moved Home Improvement off either. Also why are the bringing Fresh Prince back, yes I like the show but it has been on N@N forever now and it airs on ABC Family. Also what is with the block marathons every night for a week of The Nanny and Fresh Prince?? Everything seemed to be fine before they brought Melcom in the Middle on, I didn't even expect that to change the lineup. Also what is up with Glen Martin DDS, how is adding that going to change the lineup?? This lineup with the block marathons seems to only last a week, then it seems to go back to this starting on 8/03:
8 Melcom in the Middle
9 - 11 George Lopez
11 The Nanny
12 Melcom in the Middle
1 Family Matters
2 The Nanny
3 - 6 Fresh Prince
http://www.nick.com/shows/tv-schedule.jhtml
On another note does it bug anybody else that they don't show the episodes in order and that they completely skip some episodes??
Dontdomornings92 07-27-2009, 01:23 PM The older shows probably do better overnight because the kids are asleep, even during the summer
I don't think that is true, I am 16 and my sister is 13 and we like the "older" shows a lot so...
Pavan 07-27-2009, 01:25 PM The line-up for 8/3 and on is not updated yet on their website. This schedule that starts tonight is in effect until further notice.

Isn't Glenn Martin airing Tuesdays at 9:30? How does that play in? And if you've seen the promos for GM, it doesn't exactly strike me as a family-oriented show. I think Malcolm is the perfect bridge between Nick and NAN.

I am sticking with what I am saying beacuse if you go to this site http://www.tvguide.com/listings and look for monday August 3rd it says the same thing, that the schedule is back to somewhat normal...
Nick@Nite's website's schedule page has always been that way. Pavan is right.
Dontdomornings92 07-27-2009, 06:31 PM Nick@Nite's website's schedule page has always been that way. Pavan is right.
I have 2 sites that say the same thing though, why would they both be wrong?? Here is another site that is saying almost the same thing http://www.comcast.net/tv/tv-listings/ So do you want to argue with me that all 3 sites ive posted are wrong??
Dontdomornings92 07-27-2009, 06:35 PM Sorry guys I don't want to argue but I just want you to look at what I am saying before you automatically say I am wrong. So alright does it annoy anyone else that they don't show the episodes in order and that they completely skip some episodes??
Pavan 07-27-2009, 07:08 PM Dontdomornings92, just check their website tomorrow and you'll see the new schedule. I have been dealing with them for 10 years, so I know what I'm saying. TV listings and their own website can't keep up with SitcomsOnline ;)
Does anyone else think that Nick@Nite's schedule page was better when TV Land was running it? I hate the Nickelodeon schedule page. This is what the old one was like:

I hate that flash-filled one they have now.

Pavan is right, N@N's website is very slow to update(only updates early in the morning) and he almost always has changes before they do.
The TV listings sites also only update daily. Last-minute changes they may never even show(for like 2 weeks they didn't even show Roseanne as airing on TV Land back in May), and I have noticed TV Guide's website is terrible. They had the old schedule before The Nanny launched for the longest time after it did and took forever to show Malcolm in the Middle as airing.

Nick at Nite's schedule section on their website. It'll update by 9am tomorrow.

Ok thanks =)
GolfDude 07-27-2009, 09:15 PM i think i called the glenn martin timeslot perfectly.. they just aired the promo for august 17th at 8 pm... they are using this as a cut over between nick and nick at night, cuttign down malcolm on the days it airs...
That really makes the best sense, IMO. An animated show for Nick@Nite fits well between the Nick shows then MITM.
Pavan 07-27-2009, 11:51 PM I think I announced the Glenn Martin timeslot and premiere date roll-out months ago on the blog.
EDIT: Yes, I did: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/nick-at-nite-june-2009-cbs-summer-2009.html
I'll have more on the August thread soon.

I personally fee the NANNY has no business in between George Lopez and Family Matters

It dosen't really matter to me, I just hate the block marathons of shows, I liked it better the way it was before =)

I don't hate The Nanny, but I HATE that it's on for 3 hours a night. It's totally ridiculous. To me these block marathons are the worst schedule N@N has had in probably 2 years. I don't get why they can't stick to a schedule that is decent, where each show airs for an HOUR ONLY. George Lopez for 2 hours is stupid too, and don't get me started on FP which needs to leave N@N.

And I think the 9pm hour of GL is a repeat of the 10pm hour from the previous night

EXACTLY!! Actually The Nanny is my favorite show but 3 hrs a night or more is ridiculous. AND its the same episodes on at 1am that are on at 11 so that makes it even worse!!

You don't like The Nanny?
Home Improvement really needs to get the 12am-1am slot back. It seems to have done OK there, and it deserves better than one hour a week at 5am.
ThaMahstah 07-29-2009, 04:25 AM I'm missing Malcolm in the Middle in the 12:00-1:00 timeslot, because I can't watch it at 8. :(
Oh well, must not've done good in the ratings.

I love The Nanny, probably one of my favorite sitcoms, and I love watching it at 11pm, but I agree with you that it has no right also airing at midnight and 1am. This is probably the worst schedule we've seen from NAN since Home Improvement/George Lopez joined the schedule.
I also agree with clj2 and TheMahstah - HI should get the midnight hour back, at least for more variety, and I very much miss watching Malcolm at midnight. It's too bad one of these 2 shows couldn't be airing there.

I am shocked at how well The Nanny is doing -- it hasn't ever been a syndication hit, has it? The last time I remember it airing locally was on my then-UPN affiliate at like 4am with Mad About You.
ryan423 07-29-2009, 05:17 PM I'm enjoying the Nanny. It was never a favorite of mine, but usually the programming on Nick @ Nite is enjoyable. But this schedule is repulsive. This is obviously only gonna last until fall. When Everybody Hates Chris comes, It'll either air at 8:30 in the hour with Malcom, or take the 9pm hour, pushing George Lopez back to 10pm and 1am, the Nanny to 11 and either 12 or 2am. Glenn Martin DDS looks like a failure. It looks horrible! If it's a hit along with Chris, we could see them sharing the 9pm and 12am hours. I highly doubt HI will be back this fall...maybe at 6am. I'm sure this fall FP will remain three hours a night!!
Viacom can't run any of their networks right, excluding Comedy Central/MTV|VH1 channels/Nickelodeon channels.....Spike, Nick@Nite, and TV Land are all disasters. TV Land is nothing but Roseanne, Spike is nothing but CSI, now Nick at Nite is just perplexing.
With GMDDS, I'd do this:
8:00PM Malcolm in the Middle
8:30PM Glenn Martin, DDS
9PM-11PM George Lopez (ugh)
11PM-12AM The Nanny
12AM-1AM Home Improvement
1AM-2AM Family Matters
2AM-4AM Fresh Prince
4AM-5AM The Nanny
5AM-6AM Home Improvement
6AM Malcolm in the Middle

For now, I'm calling both Glenn Martin and Chris flops. GM does look terrible and I can't see how a show like that will ever do well on NAN. With Malcolm only semi-working at 8pm, Chris is going to do no better wherever it airs. But, I highly doubt things can even get worse than they are now.

I've thought it would flop since they got it. Malcolm only looks to be doing good enough for it to keep airing there. I think it will work over at BET much better. NAN's days of immediate success with anything they try are over.
Is there a set date for the BET run (Chris), or do they get it whenever?

Yeah, Malcolm only seems to be holding up at 8pm, but since its an earlier hour, its probably doing much worse than George Lopez is, while still doing well for the hour. Chris is going to be the same way, and will probably do better on BET. It'll be interesting to see what NAN plans on doing once Chris comes. I hope to god these 2 and 3 hours blocks are just for the summer.
icecream 07-29-2009, 06:54 PM I'd do this for September.
8PM Malcolm in the Middle

12:30AM Home Improvement
1AM George Lopez
1:30AM George Lopez

2:30AM The Nanny
3-5AM Fresh Prince
5AM Malcolm in the Middle
