Have the fun/anticipation of discovering new/old shows 20-30 years from now.

For example, I havent seen Shelley Hack in Charlie's Angels 4th season (1979-80) since it originally aired. On July 21st I will be able to see the episodes again :crazy:

New shows like 24/CSI are released almost immediately after the season is over. Fans of new shows will never have the joy of rediscovering them years from now.

If they do it probably won't be on DVD. The industry will have come up with a newer better format by then.

Which will mean those of us with large collections recorded ourselves will have to spend months dubbing everything again to the new format!

only newest show i have is smallville.

IN 20-30 years, they will have a hole new format of Home Video. Like how we went to VHS, To DVD, To Blu-Ray. We would Re-Discover them in whatevar new format they have in 20-30 years form now.

But another way to look at it, with current shows, the dvd season sets can introduce people to the show. I had trouble getting into The Office, until I bought the first season on dvd, now I have Seasons 1-4, and look forward to it. I also enjoy Samantha Who? and The new Adventures of Old Christine, because of dvd.
Some shows end up on the bubble of being renewed for a new season. That was the case with Christine, which eventually got renewed. My guess is dvd sets of the first two seasons helped. But that didn't happen with Samantha Who?:confused:

markway, that is my point--if you have The Office and Samantha Who? DVDs, in 20-30 years you wont have the fun of rediscovering the shows.

I know! I was just making the point that I may have never watched these shows had I not discovered them on dvd, but yes I get your point too!;)
